A/N: This story is different from anything I have written before, it's supposed to be a mystery crime kind of theme, meaning there's going to be clues and stuff, it's not supposed to be a long story but this might change, we'll be seeing following the story alongside Lucas, almost from his point of view, it's going to be a little bold from my usual writings, and the characters are a bit different from how we know them in the show, and I'm pretty excited to write this... I guess anything else will be explained as we proceed, so here it goes...

Oh, and tell me what you think about it in the reviews

Breathe in.

Breathe out.

Silence. Only his own footsteps against the rocky road. The voice changed when his legs hit the beach sand instead.

Breathe in.

Breathe out.

Shivering. Night sky hugging the crashing waves from a distance. Numerous stars dotting the pitch black above along with the half-moon allowing some light to illuminate the scene.

Breathe in.

Breathe out.

A large gulp burning down his throat. His fully unbuttoned shirt moving aside when the breeze hits him meeting his bare skin.

Breathe in.

Breathe out.

His bare feet sinking in the sand. He throws his head back staring at the sky as he keeps walking. He smiles. It feels free.

Breathe in.

Breathe out.

He finds a spot. He leans on the rock and takes a few gulps from the glass bottle in his hand before it's completely empty. He tosses it away. He grunts facing the clam waves crashing the shore.

Breathe in.

Breathe out.

Liberty is something everyone looks for. Even if they don't know it. He thinks it's the ultimate answer to every universal issue. The thing is, no matter what he does, no matter what he experiences, he can't seem to find it.

Inhale deeply.

Exhale slowly.

He wonders what would happen if he just starts running towards the water. It's dark, and even if he wants to swim, he doesn't think his body is capable of doing so at the moment with the amount of alcohol in it.

He hears the faint noises and the loud thumping of music coming from afar, no one will notice his absence. Not until tomorrow.

He doesn't want to die though. He's not suicidal. He's not depressed. He just wants to feel free.

Breathe in.

Breathe out.

He looks ahead. And he notices something in the water. Something emerging from it. He chuckles to himself; is he about to find mermaids are real? He focuses on it. It's floating. Nothing happens. Just floating there. And then he starts to think it's a body. The tiny head that floated appears to be attached to a body. And it's just floating there. Is it a dead body?

He's about to move forward when arms emerge from the water, hands washing over face. He stands in his place and watches.

The body starts moving forward to get out of the water.

Breathe in.

The breath catches in his throat.

Arising from the water is a girl being uncovered bit by bit as she reaches solid ground of the shore, completely naked, creamy skin glistening under the dim moonlight. Skinny with long legs. Breasts moving up and down with her movement. He watches her in all the glorious nakedness as she covers her breasts with her arm on reaching the shore. He wants nothing but to stumble his way over to her and touch this Milky Way in front of him, just to make sure it's real. And once knowing she is, he wants nothing but to run his hands all over the wet skin and lick all the droplets dry of her. She turns around giving him a view of her ass and that's when someone else blocks the view.

Being totally hooked on solely watching her he hadn't noticed the other person with the same amount of non-clothing, the person stood behind her both wet from head to toe, the person moved their lips to her neck as she threw her head back while their hands moved to her breasts before she gracefully took a step away and started getting dressed. Even with their back towards him. He could feel their disappointment as the girl only got dressed and walked away.

Breathe in.

Breathe out.

Breathe in.

Breathe out.

Maybe it was the alcohol, maybe it was his tiredness kicking in, maybe it was simply time for his body to claim some rest. Maybe it was all of it, but he let his body slide down against the big rock and allowed his eyes to blur the vision of her walking body in a light white dress that he knew didn't have anything underneath but her heavenly divine body.

Breathing getting heavier, body going limp, brain shutting and then nothing was any more…

Poke.

Groan.

Poke.

"Come on, man."

Louder groan. Headache. Annoying source of light, inability to open eyes, and a sharp pain attacking the neck.

"Luke, get up!"

"Fuck off!"

"Yeah, I would, except I don't wanna have to explain your sunstroke."

Lucas groaned and attempted to get up with closed eyes and he felt a body leaning over his helping him and thankfully blocking the sun away.

"What happened?"

"You got drunk as fuck! You passed out on the beach."

"Fuck!"

"Yeah, come on in."

With struggle and groans from his headache, he got up, and with half-closed eyes he grunted as he followed his brother on the sand and then on the rocky road leading to the matching rocky stairs up to their beach house.

Once inside in the kitchen, Lucas threw himself on a stool supporting his head with his hands, elbows resting on the kitchen bar. "I don't remember anything."

"I told you to slow it down." Nathan shrugged as he handed him pills and a glass of water.

He lazily took them in silence. Seconds later he took the time to look up at the brunette brother of his who was watching him with a smirk, "What? What you laughing at?"

"You look like shit."

"Yeah, I feel like shit."

"It's a good thing you didn't go far though; wouldn't wanna miss dad."

Lucas groaned once again at the mention, the last thing he needed right now was a lecture from his father. He was yet to meet him after arriving only a day ago, and he wouldn't be too thrilled to meet him in this state after so long.

"Is he coming here?" Lucas' eyes squinted in confusion.

"No, but, if he went home and didn't find us, that's where he'd come looking."

"Let's get going then."

"Wait, I'm just waiting for my friends. They're cleaning up and they're coming. I assume you'll shower home?"

"Yeah." He nodded. He wasn't going to do any physical work at the moment, not until the headache goes easy on him.

"Do you even remember meeting my friends?" Nathan asked with a forming smirk.

Lucas opened his mouth before narrowing his eyes…

"Sure you don't." Nathan said shaking his head with a chuckle.

"No, wait, I remember a Brooke. And a… it was some body part."

"Mouth!" Nathan laughed.

"Yeah, him."

Nathan nodded before frowning as nervousness kicked in his body a bit remembering something he didn't want to really remember. "So, I get it you don't remember meeting my…"

"Good morning, drunken shit." A voice chipped cutting off his sentence as both boys looked over to see two girls walking their way sending the blond one smirks. "Good to meet you while sober."

Lucas looked between the three of them, "What did I do last night exactly?"

"If I were you, I'd not want to be reminded."

For a moment, the two girls looked almost alike to him, both had brown blonde waves, but one had more blond and the other had more brown. Both had big eyes but with captivating green and the other with warm brown, both skinny and both drop dead beautiful. The green eyed one was taller though.

"So, I guess introductions are due again…" Nathan said, "Lucas, these are Haley and Peyton." He introduced as he pointed towards the shorter with hazel eyes and more brown in her hair and then the taller green eyed blonde more than brown respectively.

"My girlfriend." He added as the latter reached up and captured his lips. Lucas's eyes narrowed as a strange feeling of familiarity washed over him but he brushed it off.

"Okay, I know your first impression of me isn't that promising… but I'm not just parties." Lucas said in a vain try to make a better first impression.

"Doesn't seem like it." Peyton smirked.

"Yeah, I know it doesn't."

He knows that when he drinks, he gets out of control, he's woken up to find himself in weird positions, and weird places numerous times, and today's was by far the less weird.

"I'm ready." Another voice said as Brooke joined them looking a lot like he felt, they are probably all hung-over however some handling it better than others.

"It's better we get going then." Nathan suggested.

"Yeah, let's." Lucas agreed as he got up from his seating ignoring the sharp pain in his head… he noticed how Haley said nothing but maybe one sentence and preferred to stay silence, he shrugged it off too, after all, he is not a big fan of talking right at the moment either.

He looked up as his brother led the way while Haley was pretty much next him and Brooke was behind them all. His eyes shifted towards Peyton walking next her boyfriend, and suddenly it hit him, déjà vu, white dress, graceful walk, those swaying hips; flashbacking to wet skin under moonlight and full body display, and a partner that he doesn't know who but was definitely not Nathan.

Although Lucas has always lived with his mother, his father has made sure he's not a stranger to him throughout the years; he'd go for visits or fly Lucas over, or take his two sons on vacation for the summer; after all, it wasn't his fault that his parents' relationship didn't work out. And Dan knew that as well as Karen.

Dan and Karen were high-school sweethearts, but towards the end of their relationship, it was an on-again off-again and it was obvious they are trying to revive something that has been dead. And it was three months after they'd called it quits for good when Dan has already moved on to his current wife Deb when Karen informed him she's five months pregnant with his son shortly after Deb said she's one month pregnant herself.

To say Dan was overwhelmed would be an understanding, but while Karen has already made the decision to keep her baby wither he wants to or not, him and Deb have also decided they were going to go for adoption knowing that it's way too early… but as Deb progressed in her pregnancy, they had a change of heart, and then when Lucas Scott was four months old, Nathan Scott his half-brother came to the world.

Lucas and Nathan are cool, they are not the best of friends, but they are also close enough.

And while Karen met someone, Andy, and as Andy asked her to travel with him during the summer, Karen has thought she can't for she has a son who comes first, but when Lucas found out, he told her his big enough to take care of himself, and while he was able to convince her, she insisted that she will not be going unless he goes to stay with his father in Tree Hill for the summer.

Dan was more than welcoming; he has wanted to spend time with his son anyway and he wouldn't turn down the opportunity.

So, here he was having been only one night there and he has already got drunk, woke up with a massive hangover, with a vague memory of his brother's girlfriend cheating on him, the girlfriend he remembers also craving as he examined her naked body.

He has met his father briefly in the morning and the man was glad he was staying with him, however, he said they would catch up later due to some problem at work he has to run and solve, and Lucas couldn't complain, he loves his father and all, but he was in no mood for bonding this morning.

They were now in bathing suits with blaring music as they stayed by the pool in his father's house, while some other friends of Nathan followed them there. It was too early in the morning, well, it was the afternoon but he has been cranky ever since he woke up that morning by his brother on the beach.

Thankfully though, he had the distraction of meeting new people from letting his shitty mood take over or stare at the blond in hot pink bikinis.

"Why don't you join us sometime?" Jake offered, one of Nathan's friends as Lucas has learned and his teammate in the school basketball team, "So, I can beat both of your asses." He smirked as Nathan scoffed.

"Ha. Do you hear that?" He nudged his brother who smirked.

"I don't know what you've heard about me, but, dude, I invented basketball." Lucas said cockily.

"So said your brother last week before he was humiliated. By me." Jake challenged as Lucas looked over at Nathan who rolled his eyes.

"Once, that's it. You won once!"

"Dude, I didn't just win." Jake exclaimed, "You should have seen him, it's like he never held a ball before." He addressed Lucas.

"I was tired and you insisted on playing."

"No, you weren't tired. You were nervous." Jake smirked on watching his friend's face crumble; he knew he didn't expect this remark.

"And why would I be, Jagielski?" Nathan frowned quickly covering up his nerves with anger.

"Hey, hey!" Lucas stepped between them when he saw the competitive looks they shared, "Easy, horses!" he smirked, "So, a game will put this to an end. What do you say me and Nate against you and… Julian?" he suggested looking at the other boy who has been watching in silence.

"Oh, no, I play basketball alright but with a joystick in my hand." Julian replied, "If you're looking for a competitor, Skillz is your man." He said pointing towards a black guy sitting at the edge of the pool and kissing a blond girl, both of which Lucas is yet to meet.

"Oh." Lucas said and analyzed Julian's physique, "You're a swimmer, right?"

"Right," he frowned at him, "how did you know?" he asked, he was just introduced to the guy and they have barely shared a few words so Lucas understood his confusion.

However, he shrugged, "Broad shoulders, toned arms and your tan, I think you also don't stick to the pool. You like the water don't you?"

Julian stared at him for a while and gave a chocked chuckle, "And you're a Sherlock fan, aren't you?"

"Among other things." He shrugged with a smile

"Lucas, I think we talked about freaking people out." Nathan smirked and Lucas protested, much like he always does, if Lucas has a hobby it's guessing, it has always been that way since he fell in love with the first mystery novel he read, it wasn't even the only type he reads, but he took fascination in the topic of solving riddles; mostly silly ones. It was nothing serious, but it taught him to notice the small things, it might have also made him fall in love with writing and creating stories… and freaking people out when he gets the chance.

"What? I didn't freak anyone out; I only have an eye for details."

"Oh, interesting." A female voice said with an impressed tone as everyone's eyes shifted towards Peyton who put both her hands on Nathan's shoulder intertwining her fingers together as she stood by his side, "I love details."

"Doesn't every woman?" Nathan muttered and she gave him a playful frown.

"No, not really." She disagreed, "That's why you've got yourself a keeper." She pecked his lips.

Lucas didn't really like the scene, and it has nothing to do with any sexual attraction he has had the night before pre to passing out, or maybe it did, but no, his main concern was this girl acting like a completely innocent girlfriend, when she's anything but, and he knows it, he knows that she was skinny dipping with someone else other than his brother less than 24 hours ago and yet, there she is acting as if he's her everything.

Lucas didn't even settle on wither it's right to tell him or not, but he definitely didn't like what he's watching.

"Well, I could care less about your affection for details." Nathan smirked teasingly.

"Who said anything about me?" she whispered but Lucas heard it, and he bet that everyone else did too. She smiled at his brother who rolled his eyes in annoyance and Lucas wondered what that meant, but before he could build up theories, she switched her attention to everyone else, "What were you boys talking about?"

"We were arranging a game." Jake said bringing back his topic of interest.

"Oh, fun." Peyton smiled cheerfully, "Name the time and place, and you've got yourselves cheerleaders."

"Who said cheerleaders? I heard cheerleaders." Brooke said as she caught interest in their conversation while passing nearby so she walked over and stood next the blond in her baby blue bikinis and wrapped an arm around Peyton's shoulder who replaced her hand on the brunette's waist.

"Great! Now they're going to come and ruin it." Nathan complained with an eye roll.

"Hey! You never complained about cheering before." Brooke shot at him.

"Yeah, Nathan, you never complained before." Jake smirked, "Or are you scared of getting your sorry ass embarrassed in front of everyone?"

"You wish!" he challenged, "It's just supposed to be a guy thing."

"Come on, Nate!" Peyton said, "You know you'll end up loving it anyway." She rolled her eyes at him before shifting her eyes to Lucas, "Besides, you don't want to deny your brother a proper welcoming now, do you?" she gave Lucas a smile that he really didn't like.

"I think it's settled." Jake decided, "Tomorrow night at the river court. What do you guys say?"

Lucas cut the mutual stare with the blond girl and looked at Jake, "What about Skillz?"

"Nah, he wouldn't mind a ball and his girlfriend in a cheerleading outfit." Nathan said giving in as he took a bottle of beer opening it and taking a sip.

"Alright then, get ready for your biggest walk of shame." Lucas addressed Jake and high-fived his brother as everyone else cheered for the competition going on.

XxXx

It turned out that they are having a party for the second night in a row, only this night it was more of a close friends, not like the whole teenager population in the whole state of North Carolina like the night before.

Lucas' grumpy mood was gone, and he was starting to chill and was actually enjoying his time, he has met everyone at this point, and he kind of made his first impressions, like he knew Brooke and Peyton were best friends and they were like the queen bees, being captain and co-captain of the cheerleading squad in school respectively, they were pretty close he could tell.

Their third wheel was Haley, also a cheerleader but she was less blatant than the other two, she was just as strong, but just more considerate than them, and then there were Skillz and Bevin, it didn't take a second to know that Bevin is a cheerleader, she was the stereotype of them if that's even a thing, but he could tell that they were a strong going couple, despite the odds and differences.

Rachel, needless to say a cheerleader as well, was just like Brooke and Peyton but just like Jake's competitive side in basketball, Rachel was the same towards the two girls, it was like an unspoken contest between the three of which one is hotter, or who can attract attention the most today, yeah, all the things that Lucas thought were vain, but would never complain about anyway.

Then there was Mouth, he was genuinely a nice guy, he seemed to be friends with literally everyone, he didn't do competitions, he was just… nice and everyone's friend. Julian on the other hand, although he acted like he's all cool and laid back, Lucas knows that he secretly praises himself when he's 'dragged' in a comparison and win.

With this being said, it's not like they are all fighters in a playground, it's not all competition, they are friends in the end, it's only, human's nature to want to be the top, it just always triggered Lucas to notice and watch the lengths people would go to win or actually stay on top, that's why he notices this, and of course in the end he is one of the competitors after all.

While everyone was getting out of the pool, as the night kicked in, and they were getting dried and dressed to find other ways to have fun or the rest of the night, Lucas was in the kitchen grabbing a beer after putting a shirt on when a laughing Peyton entered the kitchen.

"Oh, hi." She said noticing him standing by the counter, "I'm just grabbing a drink."

"Help yourself." He shrugged; he said taking a gulp of his own. He expected her to grab water, or a cocktail or anything else but he watched as she took a beer from the icebox and opened it chugging it down.

"God, I was so thirsty." She said after lowering the bottle from her mouth.

"You know when you're thirsty, it's usually water you drink." He said carelessly.

She looked at him for a second studying his expression, "Are you usually rude? Or you don't like me?" she asked with a smirk, he knew her question was based on a few encounters during the day and not just this moment, and seriously, his mind couldn't stop replaying what he has witnessed the night before, he hated the fact that she was playing his brother like that, he has been studying her face for any signs of regret the whole day and there were none, and he hated it.

"I'm usually rude." He nodded looking at her, "But, I don't like you."

She raised an impressed eyebrow, "Oh, don't you now? And why is that?"

He has come to the decision that he's not just going to stand aside and do nothing, and this specific moment he decided to confront her first, "You see," he started, "I'm usually an open-minded person, but, what I can't really stand is a two-faced cheater."

"Excuse me?"

"I saw you last night." He said looking in her eyes as her iris grew bigger while she maintained a calm face, he smirked though, "I saw you coming out of the water with someone else that is sure as hell wasn't Nathan." He spat.

She stared back at him for a while with no expression and he waited, he waited for her to deny it, or to ask him not to tell Nathan, or even to threaten him. However, she took a gulp of her beer and took a step forward, "You saw, huh?" she nodded; she wasn't denying it then, "For an open-minded person, you sure are judgmental." She smirked as she walked over towards him to stand right in front of him. "But…" She smiled and put both her arms on his shoulders, while he waited for her to continue whatever she's saying.

She looked in his eyes the smile never leaving her face as she pressed her body towards his before leaning forward and placing her lips over his, she moved her lips against him and let out a soft moan which seemed to have gotten him to move his lips as well, and just as he started giving in, she pulled back with a smirk.

Lucas was surprised, he sure was, but he also felt angry, "What the hell was that?" he glared at her which seemed to only make her smirk wider.

"I wouldn't want to keep you wondering what it's like." She smirked as she took a step away, he was going to come up with a spiteful comeback but she spoke again, "Get your facts straight, Scott, before you go around throwing judgments." She said and raised her beer towards him before turning around.

"What does that mean?"

She stopped at the door and looked at him over her shoulder, "Why don't you use that eye for details of yours?"

And she left.

Yup, he was right; he really doesn't like that girl.
