SSEC - A Knight's Death

Chapter 1

The Beginning

Knight's life started in an egg, though he hadn't acquired or even thought of a name, yet. It was almost a normal egg. It had an oval shape with green circles dotted randomly around the surface. For another Pokémon this egg would be normal, but an Eevee's egg is never this big. Normally, an average Eevee egg is a fourth of a meter tall, but this egg is over half a meter tall.

The egg stayed up in its tree as time passed by. Days turned into weeks, and weeks turned into months. With no mother around it would seem that the egg wouldn't hatch, but as the egg reached its first year a crack appeared. The small crack spread faster and faster until the egg shattered and a baby Eevee popped out. Though, calling this Eevee a baby would be jarring as he was already bigger than a fully grown Eevee.

The small brown creature had big oval eyes with an ocean blue color. His head had two big pointy ears with blue-tipped ends shooting upward out of his scruffy fur. The blue tips were also at the end of the spiky fur on his head. His first instinct was to look for his mother. Looking around he saw nothing, so using his small, blue dog-like nose he sniffed the air for any scent of his mother. His mouth quivered as he found nothing.

"Eevee?" He cried out hoping for an answer. Only silence followed. Whimpering he stared down at his stumpy brown legs before standing up on all four of them. His legs quaked as he walked toward the edge of the tree. He turned around at the edge and used his paws to cautiously slide down the tree. Using the three fluffy toes on each of his legs, he was able to grip onto the tree bark just enough to slide slowly down.

It still took three minutes to get down. The tree he was on was massive. Far bigger than any other tree in the forest. Excluding the branches, the trunk was over one hundred meters tall and ten meters in diameter. The roots stretched far across the forest, while the branches went high into the sky. Oddly enough, the rainbow-colored leaves seemed translucent, but also opaque at the same time.

It was a gorgeous sight to see, but the Eevee had no time to gape at the scenery. It wanted to find it's mother. As soon as he touched the ground he sprinted off into a random direction. While slow at first from lack of experience and roots littering the ground, he quickly got used to running. The ocean blue tufts of hair surrounding the Eevee's neck shot back blowing in the wind. His tail, a puffball of hair that slowly extended outwards towards a single point of ocean blue fur, wagged widely as the Eevee ran anxiously.

For hours the Eevee ran and ran and ran, while calling out, "Eevee! Eevee!" He jumped, climbed, searched, sniffed, and moved everywhere. In the end, he found nothing, but forest. Disappointment and sadness slowly crept across his face during that time.

After a while, he finally collapsed from exhaustion as the fatigue caught up. He sweated furiously from the long, and yet, he still found nothing. Not a single Pokémon was seen, heard, or smelt. He quietly asked himself, "Abandoned?" His tears began to fall staining the fur on his cheek. He whimpered silently as he slowly curled into a ball right next to where it all started.

The massive tree loomed above him in all its glory. Trying to stay away from his thoughts, the Eevee analyzed his surroundings. The forest could only be described with one word. Breathtaking. The brown bark on the trees was rough and jagged. Grass and other plants had bright, varied colors. But the most outstanding thing in the forest was the leaves. The leaves were different depending on the tree. Each tree had a unique color that shined spectacularly. There were whites, tans, yellows, oranges, reds, pinks, purples, greens, browns, greys, and blacks.

While the Eevee's instincts told him the basics an Eevee needs to know, the names of colors weren't on that list. Though, you didn't need to know about color to gawk at the display. Even the blacks, greys, and browns were able to show beauty. The leaves were all dimly lighted. However, as the sun lowered below the horizon and as the moon rose, the leaves shined creating ethereal lighting. The brightest of which came from the gigantic tree in the middle of the forest. The light from that tree seemed to radiate warmth and tranquility. The environment was beyond relaxing.

Eventually, after hours of watching his surroundings, the Eevee stopped. When his tears finally dried up the Eevee gradually rested his head against his tail before slumbering. At last, getting the rest that he needed.
