Important notice: I DO NOT OWN CODE VEIN! Just my own characters brought to you in this story.

For this story I'm going to be following the 'Heirs' or bad ending in which the Protagonist frenzies and dies bringing the need for a new set of successors. There maybe be little hints here and there and character references from the game but for the most part will be a stand-alone story following the events after the 'Heirs' ending. Now for the real reason anyone is here. THE STORY!

Chapter 1: A New Successor

A lone Revenant continued his walk through the ruined city, having walked now day and night for four days straight. To say he was exhausted by now would be an understatement. He wanted rest. He needed to rest, but he hadn't found any form of safe space in days. And he was alone.

The man continued to walk until he came upon a group of Lost, five of them to be exact. There were four standard sword soldiers and one larger crusher leading them. The group hadn't spotted him yet, so the man slowed as they were crossing an intersection fifty yards ahead of him. He knew a group this small wouldn't cause him any trouble but with the exhaustion he felt he wouldn't be able to swing his massive Zweihander blade as quickly or as strong as usual, meaning he'd have weak, slow attacks. That could make things dangerous if he wasn't careful.

The man sighed as he knew he needed to keep moving forward, knowing he couldn't let this situation slow him down. He breathed in deep, slowly exhaling as he brought the massive two-handed blade to rest on his shoulder. He started to run at the group, coming quickly to sprinting speeds despite the size of his blade.

As he neared the group of Lost, they took notice of the man and all turned to start charging at him, the Soldiers now charging in front of the larger, slower Crusher. The man now placed both hands on the hit of his blade as two Soldiers were now within his range and he used his momentum to bring the blade crushing down on the two lead soldiers, crushing them with the blunted edge of the blade. As the two remaining Soldiers came within striking range, he twisted the blade sideways and swung in a wide arc in front of himself, cleaving the last two soldiers in half before all four of them dissipated into haze.

He had forgotten about the crusher momentarily as she brought her massive stone hammer crushing down on where he was. Letting go of his blade, the man side stepped the swing dodging the crushing hammer strike but being knocked down by the shock of the blow striking the ground. After slowly getting back to his feet, the man looked to see the Crusher between him and his weapon.

Summoning his stinger tail, he struck the crusher, piercing her bloated stomach and staggering her. That was all he needed. The man sprinted around her and grabbed his blade, skidding to a halt flanking the Crusher. He readied his blade as she turned around and used his blood gift as he threw the blade forward, again piercing the crusher, and using his blood on the blade, used it as a fan circling him five feet around him finally killing the crusher.

As the Crusher faded into haze, the man turned to continue down the road he was walking on, looking for shelter so that he may rest awhile as night was nearing. The man walked for several blocks until he finally came to a rundown building that he could get into. The building appeared to be a large rundown hotel, the walls still being mostly intact from outside view. The man walked inside the hotel building and searched floor by floor searching each room to ensure there weren't any Lost in the building. He was also lucky to find that there was an active mistle in the building on the ground floor.

Night was begging to set in now, heading back down to the ground floor, the man opened the door to one of the rooms, the room only having a sing, wide bed, and a couch. Satisfied that he was alone, the man removed his Blood veil, which was a long coat with armor cladding the arms and torso. Normally these Silver Garb Blood Veils were pure white but this one had been died black. He folded up the garb and set them on the couch. He set his massive blade down beside the garb as well, setting it on the ground next to the couch. He walked over to the only window in the room and leaned on the wall so that he could gaze out into the sky, now in thought.

He couldn't remember much of anything really, other than his name. He'd lost track of how long he'd been wondering this hellacious, ruined city, only that he'd been going alone since he woke up as a Revenant. He'd met a few other Revenants here and there along his travels, but other than saving that group from some Lost, he hadn't met anyone else. It was lonely to be going on like this. When he had volunteered to help the group in exchange for his being able to stay with them, the group had left him alone when he awoke the next morning, with no way of knowing where they had gone.

As the man continued to gaze into the night sky, he could tell his body was finally starting to succumb to his exhaustion. He took his purifier mask off and set it down next to his Veil. He walked back over to the bed and laid down, laying his head on his on one of two pillows on the bed, and crossing his arms over his chest, his knee-length black hair sprawled all around him, the white ends of his hair momentarily confusing him. He'd forgotten his hair faded from black to grey to white, being snow white on the ends reaching his knees.

He drifted off finally, succumbing to much needed sleep, and dreaming of the beautiful face of a woman with silvery-white hair framing golden eyes.

Outside of the same building

A beautiful young woman continued to walk as she had done for the last year, only knowing she was looking for someone, a man whose face were in her dreams every single night, and a woman's voice telling her to "find him".

She kept going walking past the open doorway of another building only glancing inside for a second and continuing.

Then she stopped.

Something told her that she needed to search this very building. So, the woman went from room to room, quietly opening each door and peering inside to find each room empty. Finally, she came to the last room in the hallway, and once again opened the door quietly and peered inside. And she saw a lone figure on a bed, seemingly asleep.

The woman slowly and quietly walked over to the man, her bare feet making no noise on the ground as she moved. As she stood over him, she noticed his pale skin almost glowing in the night. There was a rather large scar on the left side of his face, starting at the bridge of his nose between his eyes and going down to the hinge of his jaw in a diagonal direction across his face and cheek.

This was the man she had been dreaming of, the man she had been told to find. What was the reason she was supposed to find this man though? She removed her own mask and set it down gently on the couch next to the man's mask.

The woman gazed over the man's body, looking for wounds or signs of frenzy. He was wearing a gothic kind of outfit, consisting of a black leather-type shirt. He had grey light padding on his shoulders and collar coming around his shoulders to cover his chest. There were blood red straps on the chest portion of the padding coming around to somewhere on his back that she couldn't see. His arms were wrapped in blood red bandage wraps on both arms, the wraps on his right arms starting mid bicep and coming all the way down to cover his hand, his left arm starting just below the elbow and also covering his hand.

As she continued to look, she looked down at the rest of his outfit, his pants being made of the same leathery material as his shirt, with blood red straps on his left leg at about mid-thigh level, and more blood red bandage wraps starting at his knees and going into the man's boots. There was also a blood red blood red, tattered sash around his waist that reached the man's knees and was held in place by two belts of the same color.

Being in the man's presence felt right, like this was exactly where she was meant to be. The woman didn't understand the feeling but accepted it.

The man stirred a little in his sleep and she placed a hand on his chest, the simple action seeming to calm the momentary restlessness.

The woman walked to the other side of the bed and gently laid down next to the man, her tattered white gown being all she had on her. As Revenants, the cold didn't affect them the same way it did humans. Soon she fell asleep herself only once again dream of the man that was now beside her.

She was woken up several hour later by the penetrating sunlight. She looked around for the man she had found, only finding him sitting against the wall next to where he had been sleeping, his knees up with his feet plated flat on the ground, his arms resting on his knees.

"Who are you?" was all he asked her.

"My name is Celestia, and I believe my purpose was to find you. For what, I do not know. But I have traveled a very long time searching for you. May I ask your name?" She replied.

"Jason" was all the answer she got from the man.

Alright and that is it for chapter 1! I am obviously using my own character from the game here but as stated above this is entirely standalone and following the "Heirs" ending of the game. It's a little bit shorter than I wanted but I'm kinda struggling getting back into the swing of writing and putting my ideas in my head to keyboard. My goal for chapters is to reach at least 5k words and ch1 making only 1700. Still better than all my efforts of past but this is now my 3rd story started so I think it's a good start yeah? Anyways please review and comment. Criticism is appreciated. Wanna know what I need to work on.
