Jason hesistantly shook Leo's arm, until Leo jolted upright.

'Where's the goat!' he half-shouted, half-yawned.

'Hey, hey, hey, it's just me. Your turn on watch, buddy.'

'Oh, 'kay, 'kay.' Leo moved towards the campfire in a daze, and sank down next to the log where Jason had been. Jason joined him, planning to spend some time with Leo to combat the loneliness a night watch could bring. In the silence that followed, Jason couldn't help but watch Piper, noticing the way she slept: breathing in through her nose, and puffing out through her mouth, in a repetitive rhythm which he found soothing. Leo caught him staring.

'You really like her, don't you?'

'I do,' Jason replied with a sigh, thankful that darkness surrounded them to cover his slight blush. 'Actually, that reminds me. I wanted to check that you were okay about this whole thing with me and Piper, that you don't feel like a third wheel or anything. I'd hate that.'

'No, it's okay. Really. I like seeing you guys together. You obviously like eachother - if you didn't get together, there just would've been a load of awkward eye contact and advances that are straight-up painful to watch, so it's better this way,' Leo answered with a giggle. Jason smiled as his friend poked fun at him.

'I'm glad. You know, although my feelings for Piper are obviously different to my ones for you...'

'That's good to know.'

'...you're both just as important to me. Nothing could change that.'

'Jason Grace, are you being bromantic? Wow, the night-time brings out a different side of you.' This prompted a soft, perhaps slightly embarrassed laugh from Jason. 'Just keep the PDA's to a minimum and all will be well - though to be fair you have done pretty well so far in that respect. Keep up the good work.'

'Understood,' Jason replied. After a further silence, though not an awkward one, Leo noticed Jason's eyelids beginning to droop. Giving him a small pat on the shoulder, Leo sent him off to a well-deserved rest. Jason willingly obliged, feeling the day's action finally taking its toll on his limbs and on his mind. He shuffled over to where Piper lay. Snaking an arm around her waist, he curled up next to her, before planting a miniscule kiss on the back of her shoulder - Leo would have to deal with this little bit of PDA. It was needed.

Soon, they were breathing in sync. Now alone by the fire, where he felt most comfortable, Leo gently chuckled to himself.

It was almost peaceful.
