Jade stares at the mirror, horrified. This can't be happening, This has to be a nightmare or something, She'll wake up, any second now,
But of course, jade does not wake up, as she is already awake. This is not a nightmare, but a horrible reality.
You, Jade Harley, are stuck with the girl of your dreams, in your tiny little apartment, for weeks, Months maybe. Might as well be eternity.
My first mistake was moving to the city. My second mistake was looking for a roommate to help with rent. My third mistake? Thinking living with Rose Lalonde would be any better than living with that weird Gary guy.
Rose Lalonde - that name has a lot behind it. My pretty blonde roommate. My sapphic awakening. Junior author. There's nothing she can't do.
She makes my blood boil.
I hate her so much. Why does she have to be like, that?? I can't stand her long tangents about how H. P. Lovecraft would be perceived as a writer in this day and age. The sound of her knitting needles makes me wanna pull my hair out. It drives me crazy when she teases me and talks circles around me and calls me stupid pet names, And i absolutely despise the feeling of her hands playing with my hair.
I can't stand her. I can't stand this feeling. I can't stand seeing her with those girls she brings around. I can't stand when she drinks too much and ends up with her head in my lap, telling me dumb stories and secrets that make me laugh. I am in love with Rose Lalonde and i can't stand it.
A knock on the door interrupts my thoughts, and i know its her. She's the only other person who lives here, afterall. Who else would be interrupting my bathroom panic breaks? A burglar (or Dave, for that matter) wouldn't bother knocking.
"Jade?"
Her voice is that familiar smooth lavender and hot cinnamon that makes me want to melt into her arms. That same sharp tongue, and lips painted black, and oh god i'm doing it again.
"Jade, is everything alright in there? Its been ten minutes..."
"Sorry!" I quickly open the door and there she is, that sharp violet gaze that, the moment I am in view, starts scanning me top to bottom.
"Is everything alright? You were in there for a while and you seem tense, dear."
*Dear*
God fucking Damn it Lalonde...
I have to fight to keep myself composed. "Yeah, I'm fine. Just, ah- washing my hands real well! I'd hate to accidentally pass something to you.." I watch as she raises an eyebrow. She can tell it's so obviously bullshit.
"Washing your hands...for ten minutes?" She crosses her arms as she makes eye contact.
I look away, feeling that cold flush, like when you're caught in a lie (y'know- like i just was.) "Ah...haha... Better safe then sorry, right?"
She relaxes, letting out a small laugh (GOD that laugh of hers,) and just as I'm about to give relieved sigh, she opens that stupid pretty mouth of hers.
"you never fail to get a chuckle from me, babe."
SHUT UP SHUT UP SHUT UP SHUT.
SHUT.
SHUT IT.
I feel my face get red and i quickly push past her, mumbling an excuse about being tired as i rush to my room, leaving a confused Lalonde in the hallway behind me as i quickly lock the door. I toss myself into bed and bury my face in my pillow.
Babe,
Babe,,
She called me babe,
With a frustrated sigh i close my eyes. It won't hurt if i don't think about it, right?
In the hallway, Rose Lalonde stares at Jade's door, which was slammed shut moments earlier. A pang of... Guilt? Hurt?
A tight feeling of dismay gripped her chest. "Was it something i said?" She mumbles, turning away and walking back to the living room.
