Synopses - This is backstory for my Into the Void OC Character Neri Enye. It takes place after the latest Star Trek series, Star Trek: Picard. Of course this was all written years ago when I was playing an old Star Trek play by email game. , long before Star Trek: Picard was ever a reality. Everything that you will read was written up during the final seasons of Voyager and the first seasons of Enterprise. Yes we're talking 20 years ago.

Chapter 1: Arrival

Neri Lrig-Naeco stepped off the transporter pad of the USS Chameleon. She noticed the transporter chief's confused look. She was sure he had been expecting a Vulcan, only to beam aboard, well whatever she was. No one knew what her species was as Starfleet had never encountered them. She had been found alone on one of the only uninhabited islands on Earth. The Vulcan Ambassador, Sterroc, adopted her. She gave a small nod to the transporter chief and then asked, "Where is the Captain?"

The transporter chief checked for her before replying. "The Captain is on the bridge," he said.

Neri nodded as she turned to look at her children. There stood the twins Thomas Jr. and Rebecca Armstrong. She smiled and then turned and looked at the transporter chief. "Can you beam my kids straight to my quarters." The transporter chief nodded as she left the transporter room. She moved toward the nearest turbolift having memorized the ships layout before transferring over from the Leningrad. She wondered for a second if there were any other telepathic species aboard before pushing the thought aside. As she approached the turbolift the doors slid open effortlessly allowing her entrance.

"Bridge," she said. The computer acknowledged the destination request and then began its ascent up to the Bridge. When the doors opened again, she got her first view of the bridge and made her way to the Captain's chair.

"Captain, Ensign Neri Lrig-Naeco reporting for duty."

"Ensign, a pleasure. And its Admiral, not Captain," Admiral Matthias politely told her.

Neri smiled. "I'm sorry, sir. It seems my transfer briefing was incorrect."

"Understood," he replied intending to talk to whoever had done her transfer briefing. "It's nice to have a regular counselor on board. Our Dr. Tebit was fine, but she is also our CMO. And she will undoubtedly wish to see you. But, get settled in first, get comfortable. I'm sure you'll find us much less strict in comparison to Academy life. Which I understand you attended twice. Impressive. Well, please excuse me." He left the bridge, stepping into a lift.

Neri moved to the turbolift herself and stepped in as the doors slid open for her. "10L," she stated simply. She began to think of her husband, Thomas and how proud he would be of her if he could see her right now. She shook her head and sighed, "It's not good to dwell on the past. Computer, where are my children?"

"Thomas Armstrong Jr. and Rebecca Armstrong are in your quarters," the computer replied in a matter of seconds. She had thought that they might have gone to explore the ship, but she was glad that they had not.

A moment later the turbolift doors opened close to her quarters and she made her way to them and entered.

"Computer, I want to set up a schedule with a teacher on the ship. Have one contact me at 1800 hours." She smiled as she saw her two children playing and noticed an ensign watching over them. The ensign stood and nodded and then headed towards the doors. "Excuse me," Neri said to the ensign.

Ensign Halliwell turned around and nodded again. "Yes, is there

something I can do for you, Counselor?"

"If you're not needed at the moment could you watch them for a little while I need to stop in at sickbay," Neri said.

Halliwell nodded. "Sure, I could do that. My shift ended five minutes ago."

Neri smiled and turned towards the door, "Thanks, I will be right

back." She went out the door and back to the turbolift. And waited for the doors to open. Finally, they did so and she walked in. "Sickbay," she said as the doors slid shut and she went on her way and finally stopped outside her destination. She left the turbolift and walked in and noticed a nurse right off the bat. "Excuse me, where is Dr. Tebit?" The nurse pointed over to the doctor and Neri stepped over to Dr. Tebit. "Excuse me, doctor. I am Ensign Neri Lrig-Naeco, the new Ship's Counselor."

Niaha leaned over a table as she looked at glass slide in the microscope. "Ah, welcome aboard, Ensign." Niaha smiled as she shook Neri's hand. "I am of course in charge of the psychiatric division of the ship, so if you ever need anything just yell."

Niaha turned and motioned for Neri to follow her. The two walked into

the CMO's office. "There is one person aboard that will avoid you at all cost or she may just be brief. Her name is Meassesa and she is my sister. As a counselor she's going to either hate you or ignore you. Suffice it to say, she was raised by Counselors and did not have the best of experience with them. I'm telling you now, because you'll be on the bridge with her." She turned to the replicator. "Would you like anything?"

Neri smiled and nodded. "Salt water would be fine," she said. She noted the doctor's confused look. "Some form of illness, no known cure has been found to date. It's not life threatening. But I have to drink regular doses of salt water every day." The doctor nodded as she reminded herself to look over Neri file. "Now is there anything in particular you can tell me about the crew. Any abnormalities besides your sister."

"Meassesa is about the only one off the top of my head," Niaha replied.

After they finished their talk, Neri left and picked up her children from her quarters. She thanked the ensign for watching them and then headed for the nearest holodeck. "AICC, program Armstrong 1," she said.

When the doors opened to the holodeck she stepped in with the children and set down at a table. A holographic representation of her late husband, Thomas Sr, sat down a second later. "How was your day honey?" he asked.

Neri began to slowly cry as she looked at the holographic representation of Thomas Sr.. Even though it had been months since his ship had went missing and he had been declared dead she still missed him. "Computer, freeze program," she said. Not wanting her children to see her in her current state she went into another room in the simulation and began to cry uncontrollably. "Thomas, why did you have to disappear?" she thought to herself.

0 – 0 – 0 – 0 – 0

Niaha, who was full betazoid, entered the holodeck having sensed Neri pain. She noticed that Neri's children were playing unattended. She walked through the door that led to the other room of the simulation.

"Is there something I can do for you, Doc?" Neri asked, looking at her

through tear filled eyes.

"I felt your sadness and thought I'd stop by and see what I can do to

help." Niaha said as she smiled at the new officer. "You lost a loved one?" The memories of a former love floating through her mind as she looked at Neri.

Neri nodded. "Thomas was the commanding officer of the Alamo. It was lost with all hands recently. All I have left is my children now."

Niaha nodded knowing the feeling. "I lost someone myself once I know how ya feel."

Neri smiled and seemed to actually perk up a little at hearing this. As time went on Niaha and Neri talk about Thomas and about other things. Finally, Neri stood up. "I thank you for the time you took to come and see if I was alright. Now it's time to put my children to bed. If you will excuse me. Computer, end program."

The scene dissolved around them to the plain grid of the holodeck as Niaha nodded. "Sure, Neri. If you ever need to talk you know where to find me."

Neri smiled and nodded. "I will be sure to do that. Good night Niaha."
