Thank you for all the love for Toxic Friends... this is the sequel. Will Elias and Serena make up? Or will she find someone who loves her while she's finding herself?
I sighed as I looked at the contract. I was looking at my new contract from the WWE. They wanted me to come back for 3 more years. I hadn't wrestled in over a year, but they wanted me back. They had been helpful in my recovery, and they had never given up on me. I felt like I owed it to them. I had to admit it didn't feel like a year ago when my world turned upside down. I was happy, I had a fiance, and my career was going great. I never imagined that making one mistake years ago would haunt me this long. I was glad that Finn was behind bars, and the trial was in a few months. I was going to be there, and I was going to see him sentenced for this.
I knew that I was better, but there were days I still had some fear. I guess that was always going to be a part of me now. I had spent the last year recovering, learning to love myself, training harder to be better, and avoiding anyone until I was comfortable with myself. I had let myself go back to my natural state... my hair was back to being reddish-brown, no more highlights, no more extensions, and gotten a few tattoos. I wanted to feel comfortable in my own skin, and not worry about what other people thought about me.
The only exception I made to being around people was Seth and Becky's wedding. I was the maid of honor and didn't want to disappoint my best friend. The wedding was in a small church in Ireland, and Becky was a beautiful bride. The wedding went well, and I left as soon as it was over, since I was still feeling anti-social. My Dad and Kristen had been there for me every step of the way, and even let me live in Nevada for the first 9 months on my recovery. I finally had to branch out, and found a beautiful home outside of Knoxville, Tn. I was surprised when Kane came to me about helping out with training when I was in town, and I was happy to do that; it made me fall in love with the area even more. The area reminded me of going to the mountains with Dad, and the time I spent near Pittsburgh with Elias. I knew that Elias wasn't the bad guy here, but I knew that walking away from him was a good decision for me. I also realized that after hearing nothing from him for 2 months confirmed that what we thought we had... wasn't what we actually had. I guess I was glad that I found that out now, and not if we had actually planned a wedding.
I looked down at the paper again and finally signed it. I looked up at Dad and he smiled at me.
"Let's go turn it in." he said and I nodded. We left the hotel and headed to the arena. He was on RAW tonight, and I needed to turn in the contract. I was fine until the building came into view... I felt butterflies. I took a deep breath as the car let us out, and Dad offered me his arm. They had us come in a secret part, and Stephanie hugged me when she saw me. I handed her the envelope and she cheered. I was actually happier than I expected to be back.
"How have you been?" Stephanie asked me as we walked through the hallways.
"I'm better... thank you again for the time off." I said and she nodded.
"I know the trial is soon, and we will help in any way." she said and I smiled at her. I had been trying not to think about that, but she was right. I was a witness and I wanted to see him put away for what he did to me. We got backstage and they had it cleared out for Dad's segment that was after Becky's. She was still champ and still feuding with Shayna. I was watching as Jessamyn had come out of the crowd to help her.
"You miss it?" Paul asked me and I nodded.
"Go help her." he said as they started to beat the crap out of her. I looked at him surprised and then looked at Dad. Paul held up a skull face mask that covered my mouth, and nose.
"Go, Serena." he said and I felt almost giddy. I was in jeans, black boots, a grey tank top, and a black Yankees ballcap. I pull the mask on and ran out there as they told people someone was coming. They didn't want to give it away that it was me. I jumped in there, and surprised Shayna. She went to hit me, but I threw her over the ropes. Becky saw she had help and threw Jessmyn out as well. She stopped and looked at me; she didn't realize it was me. We were in a stand off when Shayna came back into the ring.
"Like old times?" I asked her and it dawned on her who it was. We both ran, bounced off the ropes, and double clothes lined her back over the ropes. She pulled me in for a hug as the crowd started to go wild. They still didn't know who I was as she asked for a mic. Shayna and Jessamyn were backing up the ramp, and I could tell that Shayna was pissed. She had a busted nose.
"That's right, I have friends too!" Becky shouted as I smirked under the mask. She turned back to me as we looked at each other. The excitement was buzzing through the arena... I had missed this. We looked at each other before she hugged me as the crowd start to chant 'Who is it?'.
"You want to know who it is?" she asked them as they cheered and a 'What' chant started... thanks Dad. She handed me the mic and I chuckled. I pulled the mask down and my hat off as my hair fell around my shoulders.
"Did you miss me?" I asked them as the arena became so loud. Becky held up our hands as the crowd continued to go wild. We were turning to walk out of the ring when Dad's music hit and the crowd lost their minds again. He walked out and greeted the crowd with his normal greeting before motioning for beers. He passed them on to Becky and myself. We all cracked them open and enjoyed a beer together.
"Nice to see you back." Dad said and I nodded.
"Nice to be back, but what are you doing here old man?" I asked him and he chuckled.
"Careful, child." he said as the crowd was laughing at us. He got ready to say something when Elias' music hit... Fuck, I was hoping to avoid him tonight.
"Steve, nice to see you... Serena, you and I had unfinished business." he said and I motioned to Dad for the mic.
"Don't make it too personal." he said as he handed it to me and I glanced at Becky. She motioned for me to have at it, and I smirked. They had ended my storyline by someone attacking me, and Elias chose his performance over me. I knew that it made him look like an asshole, but it was almost true to real life. He made a real heel turn and it had helped him in his story line.
"We have unfinished business? I think you finished it all when you chose your music over me." I said to him and he pursed his lips.
"You had it all, and you gave it up for that damn guitar... we have nothing left to talk about. You can go now." I said as he started to say something else. The crowd went wild as he started down the ramp, but Dad took the mic from me.
"I have way more friends back stage than you and if my daughter tells you to leave... then you need to leave." Dad warned him and I knew that Dad was very serious as Seth's music hit. Great... it was just one big reunion tonight. Seth walked out with Roman and they both looked at Elias. He glanced back at us and then walked back behind the curtain. Seth and Roman made their way down to the ring. Dad shook their hands and they both hugged me.
Dad did his part, we drank beer, and all of us closed out the show. We stayed out for a little longer before walking back when we were done. I got behind the curtain and people were cheering. The news that Finn attacked me had spread... and I guess a lot of people didn't like Finn as much as we all thought. I took a bow and they were all hugging me. Shayna walked up and hugged me. I was surprised but I had helped her a few times in NXT, so we were friendly. I got a lot more hugs and glanced around. I saw Elias standing in the back and he had his eyes locked on me. I knew that we really did need to have a conversation, but who knew when it would actually happen.
"Come on, I will get you a new shirt." Becky said as Paul and Stephanie gave me side hugs to not get beer on them.
"That was a badass comeback." Stephanie said and I smiled at her.
"Thank you... for everything." I said and she chuckled.
"Go get cleaned up, and we will get you a new storyline asap." she said and I nodded.
"Can't we just picked up where we left off? Except Elias is now Roman." Becky said and I was surprised to hear that.
"We would just all be good?" I asked her and Paul shrugged with a nod.
"Yeah, and we can have a love triangle." Stephanie added as we all looked at her surprised.
"Just throwing it out there. Serena, meet me tomorrow for lunch... around 1 and we will talk about everything." she said and I nodded.
"Go change... I'm hungry." Dad said and I smirked before walking off with Becky.
"I'm glad you're back!" she said and I chuckled.
"I think I am too." I said as we got to the locker room. We walked in and found Seth and Roman cheering for us. I knew that I was glad to be back, and I just hoped that this run was better than the last.
