Chapter 1

Clary fray

So it's a regular day today. I was just cleaning my art studio. The broom swishing back and forth across the floor. I had the radio on it helped me calm down. Why did I need to calm down? Well it's because my little girl had a nightmare last night and I had gotten no sleep so when I had a customer come in being very picky about my art work I got really mad. But anyway that was 5 minutes ago and I have texted Magnus by now. I needed to ask him to take care of my little girl for the rest of the day so that I can go to the spa and get a facial. Those always calm me down. It's hard being a single mom to a little girl. Luckily she looks a lot like me so the news papers didn't know that my daughter's father is a famous super star. We had been friends since kindergarten and once we started high school we started dating. It wasn't his fault that I'm raising Emma our daughter on my own. In fact it's my fault. If I had told him before he left for a great opportunity for his career. He was willing to stay with me not that he knew about the baby if he did he wouldn't ask me if he should go or not. He would just not go. Which wasn't that fair for him, he wouldn't be able to live his dream. I couldn't be the cause of that. So he doesn't know he has a daughter. He doesn't need to know. He's very successful he is the most famous singer world wide. His band consisted of his brother Alec and my brothers Jonathan and Sebastian. He wanted to still have a connection with me but I don't talk to him and I distanced myself from my family. So I haven't seen him in 6 years. Please stay that way. I then finished sweeping and closed the door to my studio turning the sign so it said closed instead of open. I stepped into my car and drive to get my facial done.

After the facial I needed to check up on Emma so I went to Magnus's house. But, they weren't alone! No, there was Alec! Why was he here? He had his back to me so before he could notice I started to back out the door but Magnus seem d to notice me because he said

" Hey biscuit your back!" Great! Note my sarcasm. Now Alec turns around to face me and it looks like he can't believe his eyes.

" Clary, is that you?"

"No, I'm a tiger." Again with sarcasm. Don't judge me I'm in a mood. Who wouldn't be if they just encountered someone they did not want to see? At least it isn't Jace.

" So you are Clary, I haven't seen you in forever."

" It's only been 6 years."

" Well, the whole band missed you. Your brothers are always in moods because they miss you and you refuse to see them even though they have asked many times." It was true my brothers texted me every day trying to arrange a day to meet up. The only times I text them back is to say happy birthday. The second I send the message they are quick to reply. ' will you come see us for our birthday little sis? Please' I had to say no, no matter what Even though I want to see them badly. If they saw me they would see Emma wouldn't they? I couldn't have them asking questions about her. I can't lie very well and they see right through it anyway. They wouldn't tell Jace if I told them not to. But, they could always slip up and I couldn't afford that to happen. So I never met up with them for their birthday or at all.

" Why are you here? I thought the band was touring in Arizona this week?"

" Well, at least you've been keeping tabs on us. It would've been nice if we could find you but no you changed your name and flew to Ontario! Where we couldn't find you! Thankfully I'm dating Magnus and I happen to find you here today. If I hadn't been here today I wouldn't of seen you!"

"I know that! I didn't want you to find me!"

"Wellll, we should have some tea that should calm everyone." Magnus said said probably to release the tension in between Alec and I. He also hates being left out of a conversation so he was reminding us he was here. I follow him into his magical kitchen. We sit down at 3 of the 4 seats at the table.

" Alec, what do you want to say?" Magnus said calmly.

" Why did you leave your Clary?"

" So, I wouldn't have to talk to Jace. Why are you here and not Arizona?"

"Sadly the Arizona tour was canceled so we came here for a vacation of sorts. I get to see my boyfriend. Your brothers wanted to search for you. That's really it. Why don't you want to talk to Jace?"

" There's a reason that I don't want to tell you because if I do you will tell Jace and I don't want that."

"I promise to not tell him."

" She has a..." Magnus was going to say when Emma walked in.

"Mommy!"

" Hey Emma!" I said back as she jumps into my awaiting arms.

" Emma? Is she your kid? She looks whole lot like you?"

"Yeah"

"Who's the father?" Here came the question I have been dreading ever since Jace left. I was dreaming if I believed that the band would never find me again I just hoped it wouldn't be this soon.

"Jace" I whisper hoping he didn't hear me. But he did hear me.

"Why didn't you tell him?"

"If I had told him he wouldn't have followed his dream of being a famous superstar. I couldn't be the cause of that!"

"Well, his biggest dreams were to marry and have kids with you and to be a famous superstar."

"Really?"

" He hasn't been happy since and he drinks way too much trying to forget you but he never does. He needs you!"

"I can't tell him though!"

"Then I will!" He said while he ran out the front door to his car. That ai hadn't noticed till now.

"But you promised not to tell him!"

" This is too important!"
