I did not create Star Wars. I hope I will be able to create a world that comes close to the Galaxy Far Far Away, but that may never happen. Disney, Lucasfilm etc. ought to be given rights and credits.

I've been wondering about this what-if scenario. I have changed the dialogue a bit (actually quite substantially). I believe it is more realistic. It also puts Anakin in a more sympathetic and respectful light. But that was always what was intended. That was what the tragedy was. Anakin was an incredibly good person who would be horrified by what he became. Vader regretted all his actions and hated himself. He is consumed by hate and rage but he's not an irrational, childish power-luster that the prequel films, however their intentions, sometimes portray.

I hope you enjoy it. Or at least it resonates with you on some… any level. Criticise me if you want. I have learnt to take it. In fact I would feel flattered that my work is worth criticising on a literary and story-wise level. I do want to make a good story.

"

Anakin watched Padme's ship. What was she doing here? He rushed to her. The landing platform.

She rushed to his arms. "Oh, Anakin!"

"What are you doing here?"

"I had to meet you. Obi-Wan… he told me terrible things. That you killed Jedi… even younglings."

"Obi-Wan…" Anakin shook his head.

"Anakin! Did you do that?"

Anakin looked straight. But he seemed tense and stiff. Cold and dark. "Everything I did, I did to protect you. I can save you from my visions."

"Anakin, I don't need saving. I won't die in childbirth! And what cost is this? This is not the way. Let's leave!"

"No, Padme! We can't. Don't you see? – things are changing…"

"You're a good person, Anakin. But I can't stay with you if you do this. Let's leave!"

"No Padme, I cannot leave! We can't leave! I won't let you." Anakin grows wild.

Padme rushes to him, but he throws her away, almost to the ground.

"Anakin!" A voice emanates from the ship.

"Ahsoka...?" Anakin looks temporarily bewildered. How is Ahsoka here?

"Anakin… what have you done?"

"Padme, you brought her here?"

"No Anakin!"

"No Anakin, I came on my own." Ahsoka's said.

"What do you want?" He looks at Ahsoka. "You can't kill me." Ahsoka, a padawan would never be able to defeat her Master in lightsabre combat…. Or the raw power of the force. That would be ludicrous. And he has tapped the power of the Dark Side.

"I don't want to fight you, Anakin." Ahsoka says. "You're a good person. Let's leave here."

Anakin stares, his face scrunched. Before he can calmly, and measuredly frame his sentences that he had been thinking with great clarity, he had an outburst.

"I've gone too far… We don't have to leave. We finally have control!

"The Jedi didn't believe in me. They didn't believe in my visions. I have done more for the order and the Republic than any of them! We finally have control and power… We can use it."

"Anakin, that's not true. You don't believe that." Padme says.

"I do!"

"You're a good person. It's not too late." Ahsoka says.

"It is… I've done too much… gone too far. Things can never be the same.

"Let's leave, Ahsoka, Padme. We will control it all… I won't let Palpatine hurt either of you. We can rule the galaxy..."

"Palpatine is evil, Anakin! We can still defeat him." Ashoka says.

Anakin looks at Ahsoka. "You're just a padawan, Ahsoka."

"But what choice do we have, Anakin? We can regroup with the Jedi and defeat him!"

"The Jedi will never accept me back. I've killed children." That's true. They wouldn't. If he had to or could go with the Jedi

"I know…" Ahsoka sighs.

"Anakin. Let's run away!" Padme says.

"No. Padme. We won't be entirely free." Ahsoka says.

"But our child…"

"Our only hope is to kill the Emperor."

"We cannot, Ahsoka!" Exclaims Anakin.

"We can. It's our only hope." She looks sadly at Anakin. "Do you really want to live like this, Anakin? You have done terrible things."

Anakin finally cracks.

"I can't ever come back…" Anakin cries. "I will never be forgiven…"

"I forgive you, Anakin. You are the only one who stood by me. I will never forget that. And I love and care for you, Anakin. You are who made me what I am today. The Jedi and person I am. My friend and brother. Nothing will ever change that." You are also the one who taught me kindness and compassion, Ahsoka also thinks, but she knows better not to speak aloud.

Padme looks imploringly at Anakin, too.

Anakin walks around the platform. I have to make a quick decision.

"The Emperor will be here soon.

"We must leave quickly."
