Something we share
The sky was dark, but his soul was darker. The sound of armored hooves striking crystal drew nearer as the pony frantically wrote his last words into a book. "With the sudden change in tidings and with my change of heart there is no escape from the light. May it's power kill me instead of enslave my soul as the dark has told me. I write these final words as a warning unto those who find this during the time of my departure… farewell my little ponies"
With a weary sigh the pony closed the book and put it on the shelf before turning towards the oncoming enemy.
"Writing your will sombry?" a chuckling voice echoed through the room, sombra looked up to stare straight into the eyes of his mortal enemy. Celestia.
"Actually, a prediction," he said with a smirk. Celestia tilted her head a little, "of what?"
"Your funeral," he roared, charging his horn with the dark one's magic, celestia barely had time to throw up her shield before sombras destructive magic was thrown straight at her. With her own magic she threw sombra off to the side.
"You fight the inevitable, the light shall win when you are gone" celestia growled lowering her horn straight at the crumpled form of a fallen king. A golden glow encased Sombra as the lights magic took over celestia and sombra let out one last final attempt at escape, casting his curse he let out a dark laugh.
"You may win now Tia but you won't win against what's coming, i wish you luck. Also you will now crave cake" and with those final words sombra and the crystal empire vanished in a golden flash of light. Celestia sat down on her haunches with a little squeak of surprise.
"Sombra you monster, I hate cake!" she screamed, but no answer came except the silent whistle of wind across the snowy desert. Cursing softly celestia stood and went off in search of her sister in hope she could remove the curse. The mare trotted over the next snow dune and found Luna waiting for her, the elements of harmony laying in front of her hooves.
"Sister, was thee victorious?" she asked, looking up, "thou did not needest thy elements? The light did bringest us?"
"No dear sister, Sombra fell easily. Just as easily did his dark religion, let us go home for i havest the most dreadful curse placed upon me, a curse of cake!" Celestia said helping her sister up and putting the elements in her pack. Luna gasped as she heard the curse but just grumbled as both of them disappeared in a flash of light.
The leaving of the two sisters did not go unnoticed, an ancient form of magic slithered away from the dune towards an ice cave. In this ice cave the magic disappeared not to return for another 1,012 years.
1,011 years, 8 months, 12 days later…
Across the blowing plains of western equestria a train rocketed towards the now sunny lands of the crystal empire. Aboard this train sat 6 mares and 1 baby dragon heading to a crucial mission for their land.
"Eh what was it the princesses wanted us to do?" applejack asked scratching her blonde mane, she turned towards twilight sparkle, a purple mare that usually always had the answers.
"Hmm? Oh sorry, i was lost in thought," Twilight mumbled looking towards the now looming crystal palace. "Thinking of some pony?" Rarity grinned leaning forward. The purple mare gave Rarity a look of horror.
"I don't have time for such things Rarity, you know that. I'm way too busy with my studies" Twilight blushed and turned back to the window, "no i'm thinking about flurry heart…"
"Hey people we gotta get going, the train is slowing down!" Rainbow dash ordered as she jumped into the air, spreading her wings she soared out of a window and into open air. Applejack just rolled her eyes and trotted out of the train door and onto the station.
"Come on Twilight, I have to get attention from the guards," Spike said climbing onto the mares back. "Alright alright, but no tall tails got it?" Twilight said looking at her assistant sternly. "Ok fine, but we have to hurry!" Spike agreed reluctantly. Twilight walked out of the train and was hit by sudden rays of crystal light. Putting a hoof over her eyes Twilight walked unsteadily towards her friends.
"I don't remember the crystal empire being this bright" Twilight noted looking at her friends. "What are you talking about, it's the same as it's always been," Pinkie yelled, the pink ball of energy just kept bouncing around them till finally applejack grabbed the excited mare and held her still.
"Yah twilight, are you feeling alright? I mean the crystal empire isn't very bright" rainbow said flying extremely close to the blinded mare. "I-it's probably nothing" Twilight stuttered, "lets just get to Cadence"
As the group of friends moved closer to the palace Twilight sparkle noted several things that didn't seem right about her. Everypony they passed had a certain golden glow around them, kinda like the sun, which didn't make sense since everypony in the crystal empire was an earth pony and didn't have very noticeable earth magic. But also that every time she looked at the castle it seemed to blind her causing her to jerk her head away.
'This shouldn't be happening' Twilight thought as they neared the palace doors. The guards at the doors bowed and out of the now open door way came a flying pink blur, it smacked straight into twilight's chest causing her to fly back 3 feet and fall down.
The cause of the pink blur was none other than flurry heart, her niece.
"Aw I missed you to flurry" Twilight said, hugging the little alicorn. She looked up and over flurry's curls to spot her brother and sister in law.
"Hey twily" Shining armor said, walking forward to take Flurry heart. He was almost immediately pushed out of the way as cadence started her and Twilight's greeting ritual.
"Sunshine sunshine ladybugs awake, wink your eye and give a little shake" both mares fell down laughing until shining cleared his throat.
"Um Twilight, we found something"
