The sound of Carmelita's holster clicked against the bite of the cold.

"Go ahead, shoot!"

Beside them, a large, cascading waterfall crashed down to an endless abyss. Judy held herself open.

"Well? SHOOT ME, GODDAMMIT! WHAT MORE CAN YOU TAKE AWAY FROM ME? NICK'S GONE! SLY'S GONE! MY LIFE IS ALL I HAVE LEFT!"

Carmelita looked away from the front sight of her gun. She couldn't make herself do it no matter how much she wanted to. Her eyes welled.

"They could be dead, you know! Both of them!" Her world felt just as broken and hopeless as Judy's. Without any more hesitation, Carmelita pulled back on the slide.

"It NEVER had to end this way!" Carmelita squeezed the trigger and watched Judy collapse. The water pulled her body down. Carmelita could have sworn she saw the last glint of purple in Judy's eyes before the waves took her. Judy fell under the weight of the waterfall, within seconds, her pale body hit the surface of the water. As Judy sunk deeper, she looked back up at the top, watching Carmelita turn away from the fall.
