Super Misfits
Chapter 1
This world is full of gifted people. Those with the power to make a...unique...difference. For the longest time it has been their goal to help those less fortunate than they, but not every apple from the tree comes out perfect. Sometimes there's a real rotten apple that pops up trying to use their gifts for themselves in an attempt to gain fame, riches, or just flat-out trying to hurt others. But not everything is so black and white, for there is a gray area. This area is what the society refers to as a "misfit." Somebody who isn't evil or does bad deeds to others per say, but they're still not really seen as the greatest people either. These misfits are sent to an island where they are taught to be better. This leads me to where I am. I have been "under transfer" for the past couple of months simply because of an overreaction. However, that's all behind me now. See me laying down in this little room? That's me.
It was true, by the back wall of a room decorated with dark aesthetics was a boy, seemingly early teens, laying on his bed. He was dressed in an orange and black shirt, with his pants and shoes being black with orange accents. But his most notable feature was his snow white hair. Many would say he looked like a ghost, and the funny thing is he kinda was.
The boy was laying on his bed reading a book when he heard footsteps. A woman who looked like a robotic bee walked up to the room's glass wall. She stood with her arms behind her back. "The time has come Mr. Loud." She said.
The boy put down his book, and sat up. "Ah, Sting Queen. A pleasant surprise. And I don't wish to sound petty, but I prefer to be called 'Haunt.'" The boy said greeting the woman.
Sting Queen sensed some sarcasm in his tone and took a step forward. "Very well Mr. Haunt, I have come to inform you that I have finally gotten a hold of proper transportation to our main facility. It is time I take you there."
Haunt appeared to be upset. "Ah man, but this place has gotten so comfy, couldn't I just stay here instead?" He asked.
"It is not my job to care for you for the rest of my life. This is not your choice to make. Once you're there, you will learn discipline and respect." Sting Queen scolded.
Haunt leaned back a bit. "So, no? Well of course not. You people hate fun." He said in an objecting tone.
Sting Queen opened the door to his room. "What you call 'fun' is not the issue here Mr. Haunt. This is a matter of respect." She said.
Haunt's smile grew at the opportunity. What seemed to be a line of afterimages zipped through the open door, with Haunt now standing next to Sting Queen. She seemed slightly angered, but mostly indifferent to his actions.
Haunt then turned towards her. "You can't fool me. I figured out your system front to back. I'll be damned if you think I'll let you cage me on this island. Besides, it's not like you can catch me now that I'm free." He spouted.
Sting Queen was now getting upset. "Don't be arrogant. Getting out of a 'cage' does not make you 'free.' I didn't want to have to do this, but it appears I'll have to teach you a lesson on respect myself." She said as she attempted to attack him.
Right before her tackle was able to hit him, Haunt's body split into four transparent bodies. Each strafed a different direction and flipped over to a platform suspended between some bridges to conjoin into Haunt's full body. It was then that an alarm system detected his escape and withdrew the bridges, trapping him.
Sting Queen then flew over to the platform using a combination of her wings and jet boots. "I fail to see where your plan is going Mr. Haunt. Of all people I would expect you to know that this building was specifically designed around my powers, and now you have fallen for my main trap." She said to him.
Haunt simply grinned. "When an armature chess player plays against a master, they are unable to read their opponent the same way. My current situation may appear like I have trapped myself, but in reality I am several moves ahead reading a checkmate." He said.
Sting Queen just shook her head. "I agree you are intelligent, but you have chosen to use your intelligence in a non-productive way." Sting Queen said. She stuck out her four arms, and from each palm shot a laser.
In response, Haunt split into four pieces again and each started running around the platform in different patterns. Sting Queen knew he was trying to break her focus, so she kept her mind focused on one of his pieces and pursued it.
Her lasers eventually reached the piece and burnt its foot. The four pieces flew together and Haunt was rubbing his foot. Sting Queen then flew right at him as he was distracted, however he noticed her sudden approach and jumped up into the air. String Queen struck the ground with a powerful kick.
As Haunt was rising from his jump, he split into two pieces. One grabbed the other and threw it towards the ground as it hung on, effectively sending Haunt as a whole to the ground in an instant. Sting Queen immediately responded by shooting smaller laser blasts from her palms towards him. He split into four pieces, each jumping around the lasers somehow and surrounding Sting Queen.
Each piece landed a couple punches and kicks, then reformed to a whole in front of String Queen for Haunt to land a bicycle kick that sent her flying over him. She landed and bounced off the ground a couple times before rolling to a stop.
Haunt then turned to Sting Queen. "That was a blast. I was hoping for more of a fight, but I got a lot of running time to make up." He said as he took off, jumping over the gap by dividing.
Sting Queen then stood up, getting past the slight pain. "This isn't over Loud."
Haunt was running through the halls of the building at super speed, accomplished by having four pieces running simultaneously, creating more forward thrust. He noticed that he was headed straight for the front door, so he pulled his leg pieces together to form a full-force kick, knocking the door down. This lead to Haunt riding down the hill on top of the door like a snowboard.
As Haunt was riding down the slope, he was thinking to himself. 'Two months was enough time to learn this island from top to bottom. My next stop is the main facility south east of here, but I need to be alone. There's no way I could've enacted my plan under her 'supervision.'' He thought to himself. He noticed a rock that was slanted just right to act as a ramp, so he aimed for it.
As he flew off of it, he jumped off of the door and flipped forward to land on the ground. He looked up and saw signs of the facility in the distance. "Jackpot, but first, I better suit up for the job. Can't sneak around with white hair after all." Haunt said sprinting into the woods.
The afternoon quickly turned to sunset as Haunt exited the woods wearing clothing fashioned from leaves and vines to cover his hair and the brighter parts of his clothes.
As Haunt continued to sprint through the wilderness, he drew closer to his destination. He then sprinted into the treeline and hid behind a bush. This building was indeed a large facility with guards posted at the front gate. Haunt then looked at the sun and saw that it was still setting.
"I wait for nightfall, that's when I strike. The second step is within my grasp." Haunt said.
