One day Gumball and Darwin were at school. "Class," Miss Simian said. "All next week, I am going to be gone, so you guys will have a substitute teacher. I wrote her a note, and I expect you ALL to be on your best behavior. Got that, Dumball and Garwin?"
"Got it!" Gumball and Darwin yelled.
"Now the next thing we have to do is…" Miss Simian began. Before she could finish her sentence, the final bell rang, telling the kids that school was over. "Go home," Miss Simian said.
"We can't wait to go home and tease our sister," Gumball said after gathering all his stuff together.
"Well tease away," Miss Simian said. "That's what little sisters are for."
At home later, Gumball and Darwin were telling Nicole, Richard, and Anais about the new substitute. "And I hope it's not Mrs. Mom this time, because she told us ALL to be on our best behavior," Darwin explained. "INCLUDING us!"
"Well," Nicole said. "It's not gonna be me this time. Thank God! Not after what happened last time."
"Thank God!" Gumball and Darwin said together.
That following Monday, Gumball and Darwin were sitting in their desks, waiting for Principal Brown to come in and introduce them to their new substitute for the week. When Principal Brown came in, the entire class grew silent. "Good morning class," Principal Brown said. "I know you guys are as sad as I am that Miss Simian won't be here this week. But fear no more! This week, you guys will get a young and spunky young lady as your sub. So please make welcome for Miss Oakman."
The entire class applauded as Bridget walked into the classroom. "Thank you, Nigel," she smiled. "I'm very excited to work with these kids."
"Bridget!" Gumball and Darwin cheered with excitement. They ran to Bridget and gave her a big hug.
"Hi!" Bridget smiled. "I didn't know you were in this class!"
"You know her?" the entire class asked in shock.
"Yeah!" Gumball smiled.
"She's our nanny whenever our parents are busy, and whenever our aunt Abby, our granny Jojo, and our grandpa Louie are busy," Darwin explained.
"Alright," Bridget said, putting down the two kids. "You guys go back to your seats. I have attendance to take."
"Okay," the two said, going back to their seats.
"Alright, time for roll taking," Bridget said, looking at the class list. "Alan?"
"Here," Alan smiled.
"Banana Joe?" Bridget said, giggling at his name.
"I'm a banana," Banana Joe said, giving Bridget a stupid look.
Bridget giggled, "Carmen?"
"Present," Carmen smiled.
"Carrie?" Bridget asked.
"You can't see her, but she's here," Darwin explained.
"I'm a ghost," Carrie said.
"Yikes!" Bridget shrieked, then continued to take roll. "Darwin is here, obviously, and so is Gumball. Hector?"
"Here," Hector said.
Bridget looked up at the multicolored giant and said, "Glad to see you managed to get into this giant school."
"His mom is a wizard," Gumball explained.
"Oh my!" Bridget said, then continued to take roll. "Idaho?"
"Howdy!" Idaho smiled.
"Hmm," Bridget smiled. "My new nickname for you is Home of the Potato, because your name is Idaho, and you're a potato."
"I love that!" Penny smiled.
"Okay," Bridget giggled, continuing to take roll. "Jamie?"
"Here," Jamie said.
"Juke?" Bridget asked.
Juke then began to beatbox. "He doesn't talk," Darwin said. "All he can do is beatbox."
"Juke, my nickname for you is Jukebox," Bridget smiled.
"Yeah!" the class yelled.
"Alright," Bridget said. "Leslie?"
"Here," said Leslie.
"Masami?"
"Present," Masami said proudly.
"Penny?"
"Here," said Penny.
"Sarah?"
"Here," Sarah smiled.
"Sussie?"
"Sussie here," Sussie said with a creepy look on his face.
"Okay…" Bridget said, cringing her heart out. "Teri?"
"Here," said Teri.
"Tina?"
"Here, Miss Oakman," Tina smiled.
"Oh," Bridget said, looking at the T-Rex. "You're a dinosaur. My nickname for you is The Last Living Dinosaur."
"We have another dinosaur in this school," Gumball explained.
"Oh yeah," Darwin smiled. "Molly, but she's not in this class."
"Gotcha," Bridget smiled. "And Tobias."
"Present," Tobias smiled.
"Alright," Bridget said, putting her list away. "Once again, my name is Miss Oakman, and I'm your substitute teacher all week. You already know me as Gumball and Darwin's nanny, but guess what Gumball and Darwin? You don't get to call me Bridget at all this week. Don't tell Miss Simian or Principal Brown this, but all week is going to be fun and games."
"Yay!" the kids cheered.
"So if you have anything to work on, feel free to get caught up," Bridget smiled. "You have all week."
"Yay!" everybody cheered.
Later that day, the bell rang, letting the kids know it was time for lunch. "Lunchtime!" all the kids smiled, putting away their homework and running out of the classroom.
"Gumball! Darwin!" Bridget called.
Gumball and Darwin then ran back in. "What is it, Miss Oakman?" Gumball asked.
"There's nobody in here, so you can call me Bridget," Bridget explained, but then added, "For now!"
"Okay," Darwin smiled. "What is it, Bridget?"
"How are you liking me as your sub?" Bridget asked.
"We love having you as our sub!" Gumball smiled.
"Yeah," Darwin agreed. "But we still like you as our nanny too."
"Aww!" Bridget smiled, hugging the two and kissing them. "Alright, have a good lunch."
"We will," Gumball and Darwin smiled.
Bridget gave them another kiss before they left. In the cafeteria, Gumball and Darwin were telling Anais about how Bridget was their new sub. "And she lets us do study hall all day long!" Darwin smiled.
"Wow!" Anais smiled. "I can't believe our nanny is your sub! I wish I could have a study hall all day long."
"It's SO much fun!" Gumball smiled. "Do you wanna see her right before you go to your next class?"
"I would LOVE to!" Anais smiled, clapping her hands.
After lunch, Gumball, Darwin, and Anais walked to Miss Simian's room and opened it. Bridget was still eating her lunch. "Oh," she said, looking at Gumball and Darwin. Anais was hiding behind them. "Hey Gumball and Darwin. What's up?"
"Someone wants to see you!" Darwin smiled. "You can come in, Anais."
Gumball and Darwin made way for Anais, who rushed up to Bridget and gave her the biggest hug ever. "Hi Bridget!" she smiled.
"Hi!" Bridget said, kissing the young rabbit. "Are you spending the lunch hour with your brothers?"
"I am," Anais smiled.
Before anyone could say another word, the bell rang, letting all the kids that were still in the cafeteria know that lunch was over. "Okay," Bridget said, putting the young rabbit down. "You gotta go to your next class now, okay sweetie?"
"Okay," Anais said, walking out the door. "Bye Bridget! Bye Gumball! Bye Darwin!"
"Bye!" the three said together.
"Alright, you two," Bridget told Gumball and Darwin. "You guys can have some D.E.A.R time. That means you can drop everything and read for a while."
"Sweet!" Gumball smiled, getting his My Little Pony comic book out from his desk.
"Thanks, Bridget!" Darwin smiled. "You're the best!"
"It's Miss Oakman to you!" Bridget warned.
"Sorry," Darwin said. "Thanks, Miss Oakman! You're the best!"
"You guys are so sweet!" Bridget smiled, looking at her Facebook page.
Later that evening during supper time, Gumball and Darwin were telling Nicole and Richard about having Bridget as their substitute teacher. "Bridget is so great!" Gumball smiled. "She lets us work on study hall work, and she even lets us get a book out and read once in a while!"
"I hope she lets you do some homework," Nicole told the two kids.
"She only lets us do one work sheet whenever it's a new period!" Darwin smiled. "She's the best!"
"Did you get a chance to see Bridget today, Anais?" Nicole asked.
"I did!" Anais smiled.
"That's good," Nicole smiled.
"Yeah," Gumball said. "We're gonna be sad when the week is over. Because Miss Simian will come back and we won't have Bridget as our teacher anymore."
"I know, honey," Nicole said sadly.
When Friday afternoon came, Bridget was lecturing until the bell rang. With that, she made a speech. "That's it everybody, but don't go yet!" she said. "You guys were the very first class I substituted for, and I'll be honest, I won't forget it. If I never substitute for you guys again, but wanna see me, you can always call Gumball and Darwin and ask if I'm babysitting them and their adorable little sister."
"Yay!" the entire class cheered.
"Have a good weekend," Bridget said. Then the entire class left, except for Gumball and Darwin. "Hi, kids," Bridget said to Gumball and Darwin. "You okay?"
"Yeah," Gumball sighed. "We just can't believe how fast this week flew."
"Yeah," Bridget said. "Time goes by fast as you get older."
"We know," Gumball and Darwin said together.
"Can I have a hug before you guys go?" Bridget asked.
"Of course," the kids said, rushing to Bridget to hug her.
That following Monday, Gumball and Darwin were sitting in their classroom with glum looks on their faces. "Are you sad, Gumball and Darwin?" Penny suddenly asked.
"A little," Gumball sighed. "Last week was just the best week of our lives, and flew really fast."
"Oh yeah!" Tobias gasped. "That reminds me! Do you know if Bridget's coming over to babysit tonight?"
"Honestly, we don't know," Gumball giggled. He wouldn't mind if any of his classmates were in the house just to see Bridget.
Soon Miss Simian walked in and said, "Good morning, class! I hope you guys are as excited as I am that I'm back! I know Miss Oakman barely gave you any homework, but I'm back now, so now you guys have A LOT of homework!"
"No!" the class yelled.
"We know where Bridget lives, you guys," Gumball whispered to his classmates. "Wanna go to her house right now?"
"Let's do it!" Tobias whispered back.
THE END!
