The Titans and The Justice League stared at the portal Raven was pulled through. Superman stares at it then faces it. "I'm going in." Batman shakes his head. Walking in front of the mass of heroes, young and old.
"You have no power when it comes to magic. We need to regroup, plan and-"
"She doesn't have that kind of time." Damian interrupts his father.
"Rushing in will do us no good. That's how people die Robin." He flares his eyes through the mask.
"Well we have to do something." Kara tells them.
"Batman is right, Kara." Nightwing says. "Raven isn't lost to us, but if we rush in there, we have no idea what we're even rushing into."
"Clocks ticking Dick. What's our plan?" Red Robin asks.
"Can someone besides the bats and birds have a say here?" Beast Boy asks. "She's not Justice League, why are you even here?" He asks Batman who overshadows the green man.
"Threat to the world. Kind of our thing." Cyborg tells him.
"You were one of us at one point!" Beast Boy shouts. Silence fills the air.
"Infighting solves nothing." Wonder Woman tells them.
"Enough." Damian says. "I'm done waiting and I'm not gonna fight friends or family. Zatanna, can you hold it?" He asks the woman in stage garb. She looks at him, concerned.
"I don't know for how long. It's unstable." She tells him. "If someone goes in, no promises you'll make it out."
"Leaves a small volunteer list." Kori says. "Raven wouldn't want us to-"
"I'm going." Damian throws his hood over his head.
"No. You're not." Batman steps in front of the portal.
"You're not ready."
"This talking isn't getting us anywhere. All it's leading to is more arguments and consuming time we don't have. I'm going in and I'll bring her back." He says.
"This isn't a game Damian." He says, narrowing his eyes.
"I promised her I wouldn't let anything happen to her. That I'd protect her." He admits to them. "I remember you promising mother the same thing."
"Your mother has never been sucked into an alternate dimension." Nightwing reinforces.
"Damian. We will save her."
"No. You won't. You'll stand here and talk and talk. She could be dying right now!"
"Or she's already dead." Green Arrow crosses his arms. "You'd chase after a dead girl?"
He acted like he was about to charge. Batman reaches out and his arm went through him. Phased all the way through.
"I gave my word father. I hope you understand." Behind them?! They look as a flash of black and yellow disappears into the portal with a whoosh!
"Robin!" Batman and Nightwing exclaim at once. Batman let's out a loud, very audible growl. "I'm getting them out of there!" He shouts. Nightwing grabs him, attempting to restrain. "What are you doing?!" He shouts.
"It's not your fight!" He replies. "Damian went in, we don't need you going in too! Wait!"
"I already lost him once!" He shouts, was Batman bereaved? Actually worried? "I can't-" He was interrupted by a comm channel clicking through all their various devices.
"This...Robin. Are...reading me?" It was weak, but it was there!
"Boost that damn signal!" Batman shouted, pulling out several devices from his belt. Cyborg started pressing buttons on his wrist.
"Robin. Come in!" He barked into the communicator.
"Reading you loud and clear." He replies. Batman growls.
"You're benched and grounded after this."
"As long as she's safe." He retorts.
"Find her. Bring her back." Nightwing interjects.
"Copy that. I'll check in every hour." He says, navigating through the rocky hellscape that was Trigon's realm. Raven was here somewhere. That was what mattered. A shadow appeared over him, and he turned, drawing his sword in the same instant. He stared eye to eye with a yellow skinned monster with glowing red eyes that matched his suit.
"Your swords do you no good here, for the end of the world is near." His voice was a deep growl, Damian didn't budge.
