"Hey, mom!"

Kate pauses digging through the fridge for something resembling dinner, suppressing an eye roll at the sound of both of her twin sons calling for her attention from across the kitchen. That phrase from any of her children rarely bodes well, but from both of her sons, Kate knew mischief was afoot. "Oh my god, what?" she was almost afraid to ask.

"I have a joke for you!" Reece says, smiling slyly to his twin. Jake smiled back, trying not to laugh.

"Is it a dirty joke?" Kate asks, pinning the boys with a look. They definitely took after their father's sense of humor; especially now that they were fully-fledged teenagers who made any and every conversation inappropriate. And she wasn't in the mood for it.

"No questions allowed," Reece answers with a curt nod. "Okay: what's the difference between a tire and three hundred sixty-five used condoms?"

"It is a dirty joke!" Kate shouts, quickly turning to face her sons, mouth agape.

"I don't care," Reece answers, his twin already laughing at the punch line and trying to hide it in the sleeve of his sweatshirt.

"I don't know, what?" Kate says, already done with the joke.

"One is a Goodyear, and one is a great year," Reece says, laughing.

Kate rolls her eyes, grabs the nearest towel and throws it at the teen. "I cannot believe you! And you," she glares at Jake, the boy practically falling out of his chair from laughing so hard. "You were laughing the whole time!" she grabs a potholder and pegs it at Jake's head.

"Ha! Blocked it!" he teases, still laughing. "Blocked it again!" he shouts when another comes his way. Through all his cockiness, Jake misses when Reece takes one of the potholders he'd blocked, pulls back and slaps his brother in the face with it. He smiles at his mom, proud of his comeback, and Kate returns it.

"You deserved that. Jakers, you need to get a better poker face while telling jokes. Otherwise, you might get more than an oven mitt to the face next time." Kate shrugs and cocks an eyebrow to her eldest son before turning back to the fridge for dinner.

A/N: Hello and welcome to the Castle fandom Ficathon 2020! I can tell this year is gonna be a lot of fun! A bit of information right off the bat: this story will be a series of prompted one shots and two multi-part AU's. Any 'Five Little Monkeys' related content will be posted here with a teaser and the full chapter will be posted in its proper story. Also, all FLM chapters here will be marked with an authors note so that if it's not your cup of tea, you can skip ahead.

I think that's about it! As always: prompts are ALWAYS welcome.
