Hey, I'm back baby.

"Mom," the little girl whined, "are we there yet?"

"Almost sweety, we just need to cross the overpass and we'll be five minutes away from your tournament." The single mother of three heaved a sigh as baggy eyes looked at the rear view mirror of the car. One toddler, a single kid, and one mid teen, how did things end up like this? All she wanted was a peaceful life with her family, but now she was over fifty-thousand dollars in debt and is forced to work every day of the week on top of having to care for her two youngest, and eldest, who is on his way to college soon.

After taking two wrong turns in a small neighborhood, the family of four walked out of the old rinky-dink convertible at a somewhat slow pace. Although this gaming tournament was small, it was widely known as one of the best locals to go to when you want to practice. As the Wolf family walked into the cramped space of the closest university to their house, they spotted a small room at the far corner of the F-hall entrance. The clicks of controllers were like the buzzing of bees at work, the now enthusiastic little girl, Tanya Wolf, ran in with gusto, a controller in her pint-sized hands.

"Attention everyone on campus, there is, as of this moment, a suspicious man on school property, please stay inside the building, and more preferably, inside a classroom. That is all, please stay safe."

A loud explosion was heard all throughout the tiny town of Mittsville.

"Brother," the aptly named 'Great Sage', looked down upon her shut-in brother, who was rolled up in a potato-like manner on their spiritual sofa,"please tell me you've chosen your host today?

"Hah? I thought you did days ago, why are you bugging me about that divine order crap when you are quite literally raking in enough income to keep us in this spacious loft for at least another hundred years." The imaginary ground shook as the Great Sage's anger boiled into unrivaled fury.

Emotionlessly, the little brother walked out of the opaque living room, and sprinted towards the host scouting area, utter fear written all over his face. As the spirit scrambled through floating ghostly files of undead, anxious to be reborn, all too average and boring, yet all so desperate to live again. The ancient printer in the corner of the room rang like a church bell on a cold winter day, implying that a new file was being produced from the stale cubicle office down below in Hell.

The see-through file read: Tanya Wolf, at only the age of six she was already known throughout the small town of Mittsville as a prodigy, she entered middle school at eight years old, and has an obsession with playing video games. Died in an explosion at her local tournament alongside her family.

Stars filled the brothers' eyes, a wide, shit-eating grin plastered his face. This was it! The perfect host for his otaku-self! He scrambled towards the in-home copier room and planted the file into the ghastly machine. The shut door behind him was slammed open by his sister, and at that same moment, the copier finished doing its job.

"Dear brother, have you chosen your host?" The Great Sage looked at the newly copied file and read it aloud. "Brother…" A low tone, barely audible came out of the sisters' mouth, "Did you choose this girl because you're a lolicon? If you did, then I may have to eviscerate your very, very important assets, as to make sure you don't do anything shameful to this little ladies' spirit essence."

"I won't! I promise on my invisible pinky," The shut-in pleaded with his sister, "Well get ready to join your new host in ten minutes, remember to pack your things, you won't be able to freeload off of me anymore, afterall." The great sage promptly sat down on her sofa, as she wouldn't be joining with her host for over a year.

"Alright alright! I get it, you don't want me to live with you anymore!" The ghostly form of the younger brother dissipated, leaving only his sister, wondering whether she should have forced her brother to actually get a host to watch over.

Floating...Nothingness...Without...Sensation…..?

'I-I can't see anything! What happened?! My eyes won't open? The last things I remember is the announcement about the suspicious person, and controllers, then the world just went blank…'

The spirit essence of Tanya Wolf floated aimlessly between the land of the living and dead, no other spirit was able to do this, and for good reason. Normally, lost spirits weren't able to make it to the place between Valhalla and Hell, and even if they were to make it there, the residents would peacefully guide the lost sprite towards the alignment chamber, where they can choose to be reborn into a new world, completely different from their original one, or choose to move on to the afterlife permanently, where they would either be sent to Valhalla, where only the best of taverns resided and where the Gods resided, or to Hell, where evil spirits drank bad booze, complained about only having porta potties and, depending on how evil they were, did an ungodly amount of paperwork, it's boring cubicle work that they are forced to do after committing the most unfathomable of sins, like minor tax fraud, or smoking weed in California. As for this place? This was where the sages of those reborn in another world reside in, giving them advice through some sort of mental telepathy, although many move out of their houses and apartments to live inside their hosts, this leads most to their deaths, as once the reborn dies in their new world, the sage shall also die, they don't mind, however, as their sole purpose is to help their host at any cost, and being closer to them is one of the best ways to do just that.

As Tanya Wolf wandered, a certain Great Sage looked out of her already transparent window to see the astray spirit, hovering a few inches off the ground, float inside the apartment complex, panicking, she ran down the opaque staircase and grabbed the disembodied little girl.

'Huh? It feels like I'm being carried, what's happening?'

Running towards the reincarnation center near the middle of the ghost town, all that The Great Sage could think of was that the vessel that her brother chose really was special.

A loud cry was heard resonating throughout the small room inside the hospital, "Congratulations Miss Welf! It's a perfectly healthy baby girl-" The child was wrapped in a black cloth as the new mother ran out of the building, still donning the medical gown.

A few hours later, the newborn with direwolf ears was placed upon the steps of the soldier Kaijins' house.

"Hey kid, wake up! I've been trying to contact that prodigy mind of yours for hours now!"

Hmm? What's that voice? God? Is that you?

"How silly, comparing a wimpy sage such as I to the great and glorious Balzahar the Ascendant of War? Ha! You make me laugh, child."

Sooooooo...This guy can hear my thoughts? Creepy. He sounds like a pretentious and hypocritical guy, as if he was nobility from a fantasy novel. So you're my sage huh? Well your sister did say you were a bit of an ass to be around…

"Wait what? You met my sister?! What did she say about me?! Please don't tell me she told you that story!"

What are you talking about? Anyways, yeah, she told me tons of facts about you, like how you still wet the bed until you were nearly seven-thousand years old, or leeched off of her for a couple hundred years because you didn't want to inhabit a host! Honestly I have no idea what the story you so desperately want to hide is, but I guess i'll never find out. The Great Sage also told me about my reincarnation and all the likes, what to expect and where to find her in a number of solstices.

"..."

Awfully quiet are you?

"WHAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAATTTT?!"

And so ends our chapter, and the beginning of the rebirthed fanfiction that at least some of you have heard about! I'll try and make a chapter that explains the world and just build the environment that I want, one with gods that party! Sinners in cubicles! Mysterious figures that lead the dead to their next journey! Shit like that makes me so excited to read! For the next few chapters I have planned, i'm going to be focusing more on worldbuilding and opening up more of the backstory of our MC, so look forward to it! Obviously, the world of 'Tensei Shitara Slime Datta Ken' has already been established, but I mean building more on top of that, you already saw some of it with Valhalla and The Land Between Life and Death, as well as Balzahar: the Ascendant of War. I also feel as if I need to explain some differences from the actual novel and this fanfiction, I changed one major character, and that character is The Great Sage, she is the being that looks after The Land Between Life and Death, but once in a few millenia she takes on a new host, as to not lose her purpose of existing, said host this time around is, of course, Rimuru, she also does not die if her host ever does perish, instead just moving back to her homeland. Her brother, who shall stay unnamed for now, is immortal as well. Bye for now!
