Chapter 1: Spartans Never Die.

The sound of gunfire bounced off the walls of the warehouse as Spartan-A239 and Spartan-B312 fired at the Covenant inside as they headed for the Aszod Breaking Yards to deliver the Package to Captain Jacob Keyes as Carter had ordered before he had sacrificed himself by ramming his Pelican into a Scarab so they could do just that. Moving up the steps they quickly dealt with a group of Grunts then proceeded to move up the next stairwell to reach the next level.

"Keyes to Noble Team. " Captain Keyes came over the comms as the two reached the top of the stairs and the warehouse started rumbling. "We're running out of time here, Spartans."

"Solid copy, sir." Emile acknowledge for the pair of them as they neared the top of the stairs." We're close." He finished as they reached the top only to see a group of Marines that were fighting off the Covenant in the room ahead of them. Springing into action, Noble Team ran into the room to see they were fighting of Grunt's and a single Jackal who hid behind their shield.

"Eat lead, Gas-Sucker!" A Marine screamed over the gunfire as he filled one of the Grunts with led.

Firing through the gap between the Jackals shield, Six fired a single round of his DMR forcing it to fall back and lower the shield allowing him to capitalize and finish it off with a headshot while Emile charged of in front with his M45 Tactical Shotgun in hand. Kneeing the closest of the Grunts in the face and knocking it to the ground he executed it by stomping on it, turning its head to paste; then gunned down the others. With them all dealt with the Spartans followed after the Marines who led them to the exit were another two were standing guard.

"What's the situation?" Emile asked as Six and the other marines shadowed the skull-faced Spartan as the former headed for the door.

"We rigged a Mass Driver at top, we lose that then the Autumn has no covering fire and it'll never make orbit." The Marine answered from the door as he quickly looked at the approaching Spartan before he turned his attention back to the door.

"Dot, can you contact the Autumn?" Emile asked as he looked at his partner.

"Doing so now, Noble Four. "A synthetic feminine voice said in a calm, dry tone from B312 tactical pad that was strapped to his wrist. Briefly looking down a series of blue and white lines were visible on the screen that crossed over one another; which happened to be the chosen avatar of Auntie Dot, the dumb Artificial Intelligence of Noble Team. "Captain Keyes, Noble Team have reached the drydock, landing pad Delta as per your instructions."

"Copy, Noble. My Pelican's ready" The Captain responded coming over their suits comms. "Clear an LZ and I'll meet you there."

"Acknowledge, Captain." Dot replied as she ended the transmission between the Spartans and the Pillar of Autumn. "I believe we should move, Noble Team. Time is of the essence."

"Took the words right outta my mouth." Emile said with a chuckle as he placed a hand on Six's shoulder. "Alright, Six, this is it. I'll man the big gun, we can't risk it falling to the Covies. You just get to that pad and deliver that package."

"On it." The Lieutenant nodded as they split up with Emile heading back the way they came and Six heading out the door to see the Halcyon-class light cruiser docked at the refuelling station above him. Rain fell from the heavens soaking the walkway as he walked down it and headed for the steps at the end. As he neared the bottem of the steps he spotted Grunts and Jackals coming from the hillside from the left where two Phantom Dropship dropped off more troops.

Jumping to reach the bottom quicker, he fired his DMR killing the Grunts with a few well-placed headshots and lobbed a grenade at the Jackals who dived out of the way to escape the blast radius. As his feet landed on the ground he grabbed Kat's magnum from his hip and fired three rounds into their skulls as they climbed to their feet. With them out of the way he placed the now empty DMR on his magnetic plate on his back and put the magnum in it's original place before grabbing two plasma pistols from the floor.

"I'm in position, I'll take out as many dropships as I can!" Noble Four said over the comms as Six pressed the top of the plasma pistols to activate the weapons he headed to the left and down the steps where the two Phantoms had dropped of more troops. Within moments of planting his foot on the dirt, his energy shields shimmered as Brutes and Grunts fired a barrage of plasma at him.

Returning fire, Six fired at the closest Brute killing it quickly as he moved around the side of the boulder to evade the plasma bolts chipped away both his shield and the boulder. Coming face to face with a Grunt he eliminated it with a shot to the head before catching sight of another Brute who fired Spiker at him. As he tried to retreat back the way he came he saw multiple blips on the radar. Before he could react quick enough a Brute Chieftain appeared from around the corner with a Gravity Hammer in hands and slammed into the boulder smashing it to pieces and knocking the Spartan through the air.

Landing hard face first, his shields cracked as he made contact with the ground making him groan, he felt like he had just charged headfirst into a Hunter. "Are you okay, Lieutenant?"

Shaking his head rather than responding to her question, his eyes widen when he caught sight of the Chieftain running at him. Hastily climbing to his feet he quickly realized that he had dropped the Plasma Pistols during the fall, making him mentally berate himself for being so sloppy. Grabbing the magnum once more he aimed at the charging Brute's head and fired as he moved back, emptying the entire magazine to take down it's shields.

"Behind you."

Heading her warning, Six turned and drove his elbow into a Brute's face with enough force to knock the to the ground and possibly dislocate their jaw, then proceeded to stomp on their head, killing them in an instant. Quickly crouching down he pulled the Spiker from the Brute hand, levelled it on the mountain on muscle that was only meters away from him and opened fire. Holding the trigger down, spikes flew from the weapon and penetrated the armour making him scream before a spike went through their helmet and pierced through it's skull killing it right away, making it go limp and fall to the ground, where it proceeded to slide across the dirt until it stopped right in front of the Spartan.

It was that moment that the sound of his shields recharging was heard just as an Elite made themselves known to him by shooting bolts of plasma at him. Looking up to the hillside, Six saw a single Elite minor with a plasma rifle firing at him making him strafe to the right to avoid the superheated plasma rounds. Returning fire he fired the Spiker at the Elite. Spikes tore through the armour before he finished it off with a final spike to the head. With the Elite dead he saw more Phantoms and Banshees in the distance heading his way.

"Hold them off until Keyes gets here!" Emile shouted over the comms as he fired at one of the Phantoms with the Mass Driver destroying it with a single round, making it explode in a fiery purple mess.

Turning around and heading back up the steps he saw a pelican dropping off marine then flew back towards the Autumn. Ignoring them for the time being he headed for the bunker on the side of the platform that he prayed had ammo for his UNSC weapons. Once the doors retracted he walked through and headed to the end of the corridor and scanned the room for any sign of ammunition. Thankfully luck seemed to be on his side when he spotted a weapons locker that was bolted to the wall. Wasting no time, Six ran to the locker and saw that it was filled with DMR's, Magnum's and a single Sniper Rifle. Dropping the Spiker on the ground he pulled open the draw to reveal that it was filled with fresh magazines for all the weapons on display.

Grabbing his DMR from his back he ejected the empty magazine and replaced it with a fresh one and grabbed a few extra and placed them on his hip, before doing the same with his magnum. Placing both his magnum and DMR back in their respective places he grabbed the sniper from the locker, did a quick once over as he examined the weapon and grabbed the only spare magazine placed it above his magnum then headed back the way he came. Reaching the door, he waited for it to open before walking through it. Once he stepped outside he was immediately greeted by a swarm of Brutes running up the steps from the far side.

Not even bothering to look down the sights he pulled the trigger and fired the high-powered round at the Brute which went straight through it's shields and into the skull. As it fell he sniped another, and then another as he pressed forward not giving them the respond. Catching sight of an armoured Brute emerging from around the stairwell in the middle of the platform, he fired a round at the helmet knocking it off before finishing it with the last round in his magazine.

His shields flared up as he quickly found himself surrounded by hoard of Grunts, Jackals and Brutes that swarmed on his location. Grabbing the barrel of the sniper, he gripped it in both hands like bat and swung for the Brute closest to him knocking it to the floor and denting it's bronze helmet. Letting go of the sniper he grabbed Kat's magnum and unloaded three rounds on a trio of the Grunts, dropping them with three well-placed headshots as he pulled his combat knife from his sheath and stabbed a Brute that was coming from the left straight through the jugular; or at least where he assumed the jugular was on the ape-like alien.

As he twisted the knife to finish off the Brute an overcharged ball of condensed plasma hit him square in the chest breaking his shields. Looking for where it came from he saw that one of the Jackals had lowered the shield it had been hiding behind growing in it's native tongue. Snapping the magnum up he fired a single round into its cranium, ending its there and then as he ripped his knife from Brutes through, not being gentle in the slightest.

Retrieving his knife, Six saw the Brute that he had knocked to the ground moments ago getting back up before it tried to stab him with the two curved blades at the bottom of the weapon. Seeing this, he rammed the end of his pistol into the Brutes arm and fired his weapon making a hole through the forearm and forcing it to drop the weapon. The Brute roared and cursed something either in his own or the Covenant langue before a final bang rang out and it fell back with a hole between eyes just as the sound of his shields recharging caught his ear.

Looking to his right he spotted a group of Grunts plodding down the slop before they laid eyes on him; though instead of retreating at the sight of a demon and the dead Brutes, they drop their weapons and grabbed two plasma that were placed on their hips before they activate them and ran towards him.

"Shit." He cussed in his head seeing the suicide Grunts heading for him. Wasn't it supposed to be the Spartan-III's that were suicide soldier; or at least that was how Colonel James Ackerson and ONI saw them, but he digressed. Backtracking the way he came he ejected the empty clip from the magnum and replaced it with one that was filled with bullets. Pushing the magazine into the chamber he heard the weapon click which told him that it had connected with gun, knowing that he aimed the gun at the leader of the pack and unloaded a single well-placed round to the head. Both the Grunt and the grenades that it had been holding dropped to the floor before detonating taking the rest of the Grunts with it; the grenades that the others had been holding adding to the blast radius as a bluish-purple explosion lit up the walkway like firework.

"Auntie Dot to the Pillar of Autumn. Landing platform D has been secured." The A.I spoke over the comms as Emile blasted a Phantom in the distance.

"Understood, Dot." Keyes acknowledge over the comms. "On hot approach to platform Delta. Ready to take possession of the Package, Noble."

"Alright, Six." Noble Four voice rang over his Mjolnir. "Time for you to leave, get the package to the pad, and get your ass of the planet. I've got your back."

"What about you?" Noble Six damn near interrogated his fellow Spartan as he looked in the direction of the mass driver.

"Somebody needs to stay behind so that the Autumn can escape." Emile said nonchalantly as he took down another Banshee. " No need for us both to die here, plus humanity is gonna need you."

Before Six could retort about humanity needing Emile just as much as him or any other soldier that could take up arms to defend her two pelican approached the landing pad, the first doing a complete 180 as it reached the pad. Once it had turned around the back opened up to reveal a man wearing a grey uniform with numerous medal pinned on one side. The man looked tired, he could see that just from a quick glance as he walked towards the Pelican, where a squad of marines fanned out behind him before jumping onto the pad followed by the Captain.

"Good to see you Spartan, Catherine assured me I could count on you." Captain Keyes greeted as the Spartan removed the A.I matrix from his back and handed it to him; thankfully it hadn't been damaged when the Chieftain had knocked him away like a ragdoll.

"Not just me, sir." Six added his thoughts lingering on Carter, Kat and Jorge, their untimely deaths playing back in his mind over and over again. Looking back there were so many things he alone could have done to avert their deaths. With Jorge, he could have stayed behind to activate the slip-space drive while he escaped. He after all was the expendable super soldier, the disposable sword while Five was the invaluable shield, irreplaceable just as the rest of the Spartan-II's.

With Kat he should have been more alert, and because he wasn't his sister in everything but blood paid the price. Granted at the time Noble Team had been running to escape the glassing and reach the radiation bunker, but that excuse his sloppiness. From day one he had been taught to expect the unexpected, to adapt if/when he found himself between a rock and a hard place...but after spending so many years working alone he never had to lookout for anyone else; and because of that Kat had lost her life, all because he was more focused on the job at hand rather than the team he was with.

Then finally there was his Commanding Officer, Carter-A259. His death would have been all to easy to prevent if he had just taken charge instead of staying quiet in the back. He was the only member of Noble Team that was the qualified pilot, sure every Spartan might of been trained to use all manner of vehicles that ranged from Human and Covenant. Even so, he was the superior pilot, he should have piloted the Pelican and Carter or Emile could deliver the package to Captain Keyes.

"They'll be remembered." The Captains voice brought him back to reality as he briefly placed his hand on his shoulder to assure him that their deaths would not be in vein. Removing his hand his he caught sight of CCS-class battlecruiser in the distance breaking through the thick smoke and ash, it's intent all but obvious to everyone on the landing pad.

"Cruiser adjusting, heading for the Autumn." Keyes pressed the earpiece and looked over to where Emile was stationed. "Noble Four, I need fire on that cruiser or we're not getting out of here, do you copy?"

"You'll have your window, sir." Emile responded as he turned the mass driver in the cruiser vicinity.

"Bridge, this is the Captain. We have the Package. Returning to the Autumn now." Keyes spoke into his earpiece as he and the marines climbed back into the Pelican. Just as Six was about to follow suit, from the corner of his eye he caught sight of a Phantom on hot approach alas before he could warn either the Captain or the pilot of the other Pelican that had began flying back to the ship, the Phantom opened fire on the unsuspecting dropship. Not seeing the Covenant dropship until it was too late, the pelican tried to get out of the way as it was fired on, but it was too little to late.

Six could only watch helplessly as the Phantom fired at the Pelican hitting one of its thrusters at the back of the aircraft, which in turn made the ship lose control and smack into the crane before crashing into the platform. The Spartan jumped out of the way, narrowly avoiding being crushed to death. Pushing himself up, he grabbed his DMR from his back and went to get to his feet, but before he could the Phantom that had taken out the pelican fired at him as it flew to the mass driver.

"Emile, you've got..."

"Arrgh!" His warning came to late as Emile screamed over the comms before there was a single shot followed by the sound of glass shattering as he stood up in the control box and finished of the Elite that had tried to kill him. "Who's next?!" He taunted pumping his shotgun, then before he could react a Zealot jumped down from above him and stabbed an Energy Sword through his back and out the front of his chest.

"Emile!" Six cried seeing yet another teammate dying before his eyes. He watched as Emile after the Elite had pulled the blade out and went to finish him off grab his shoulder with one hand and grab his Kurki with him other. "I'm ready! How about you?!"He shoulder as he plunged the knife into the Zealot's throat using ever ounce of strength and willpower he had to finish them off as they fell from the mass driver and down to the platform below.

"Lieutenant, get aboard, we've gotta get the hell out of here!" A marine from the Pelican shouted as said pelican returned to the platform. Six sighed to himself, it would have been nice to be able to fight another day...but Emile was right. Somebody needed to stay behind so that the Autumn could escape Reach; and if the Package was as vital as Doctor Halsey claimed then it was paramount that they got it off world and out of reach of the Covenant.

"Negative, I have the gun." The Lieutenant said as he looked at the Captain." Good luck, sir." He added as he turned around to face the MAC cannon and grabbed his DMR before heading off.

Captain Keyes sighed as he watched the black armoured Spartan running off in the direction of the Mass Driver. Again, he would have another Spartans death on his conscience within the span of twenty four hours. First with James-005, then with Linda-058 had been declared clinically dead after the Master Chief had brought her back to the Autumn after returning from Gamma Station. And now Noble One, Four and Six were added to his sum total; granted he hadn't been personally responsible for any of their deaths but each time he failed to bring somebody home he felt like he was to blame.

"Good luck to you, Spartan." Keyes whispered as looked down at the A.I matrix where a fragment of Cortana was stored; whatever she and Catherine had found underneath SWORD Base he prayed it was worth it in the end. Shaking his head he turned around as the Pelicans hatch closed," Pilot, get us back to the Autumn! We're done here."

Noble Six ran down the steps to the landing platform and quickly crossing the dry dock to reach the entrance to the Mass Driver. Heading up the slope and around the corner a group of Grunts emerged from the doorway that had no doubt come to eliminate any humans remaining in the area.

"Noble Six, get on that mass driver and clear me a path!" Keyes ordered as the Spartan engaged the Grunts. Making quick work of them he unloaded for rounds between the four, killing before they had a chance to react. As they fell a Field Marshall came running out with an Energy Sword in one hand and a Plasma rifle in the other, using the former to fire at him. His shields flared up around him as he returned fire on the Elite, emptying what remained of his magazine to take his shield down; or at least try to.

With a now empty weapon, Six jumped back as the Marshall swung at him with the intention of slicing in two, and thanks to his superior hearing he could hear the sound of the blade slicing through the air. As the blade passed him, Six punched the Elite in the jaw disorienting it before tackling it, using both his augmented strength and the full weight of the Mjolnir to get it to the ground and keep it there; though even with his full weight he was still managing to fight him off rather easily. Grabbing his knife he plunged it through the top of the helmet and into the skull ending them.

Pulling his knife out and swiping the blood of he placed in back in its sheath and grabbed the Energy Sword and placed it on his hip before grabbing his DMR and reloading it. Placing it on his back, he grabbed the Plasma Rifle and head through the towers entrance where he saw a pair of dead marines laying against a pillar. Turning left he walked up the steps to see a pair of Grunts whining in their native langue. Lifting his weapon he gunned the pair down, their blood soaking the floor. Satisfied with his handy work, he headed further into the room only for his shields to pop up as more plasma assaulted him.

Looking where the bolts originated from, B312 saw another Field Marshall standing by the door wielding two plasma rifles. Refusing to be outdone, he returned fire as he strafed out of the way as more plasma headed his way, and thanks to his reaction time he managed to avoid them as they flew past him. Holding down the trigger not caring with the weapon overheated, he advanced on the Elite and managed to take the shields down at the cost of his rifle overheating. With the shields down, the Sangheili tried to take his head off with a powerful kick, only for Noble Six to sidestep said kick and use its momentum to get him in a headlock before giving it a hard twist, breaking the neck and allowed it to fall to the ground.

Venting the Covenant weapon, Six sprinted across the ground floor and up the steps to reach the next level where once more a Field Marshall was waiting for him, though this one had a fuel cannon resting on its shoulder.

The Elite wasting no time fired at him, forcing the Spartan to dive out of the way. The floor shook as the condensed plasma exploded sending metal and debris in every direction. Jumping back to his feet, Six fired at the Marshall and used his other hand to grab the Energy Sword from his hip. Activating he blade, it hissed to life as a blue hue lit up around him and he charged forward, his finger down on the trigger of the plasma rifle.

The Field Marshall's shields shattered making it release a animalistic, almost primal roar as it threw the Fuel Cannon to the side and grabbed the Energy Sword from his hip and activated before charging at the Demon on the walkway.

Seeing the Elite charging at him with it's own Energy Sword, Six stopped firing and opened up the vents to allow the Covenant rifle to cool down. When the Spartan and Sangheili were but meters away from one another, the Spartan lobbed the plasma rifle at the Elite, hitting him in the face and make it stumble ever-so-slightly, Six rammed his sword straight through the Elites chest so hard that he actually managed to lift them off the ground and impaled them into the wall behind them. Hearing muffled growls coming from the Sangheili, Six gripped the handle tighter before slicing up through the Marshall to finish them off.

"A bit excessive, Lieutenant." Dot idlily commented seeing the gruesome sight via the video feed. "Wouldn't you say?" She added in her typical calm, dry manner; if he didn't know any better it sounded like she disapproved of his methods.

"Maybe." Noble Six murmured quietly as he laced the sword back on his leg before heading up the steps to reach the top of the tower; and at the top his with his back pressed against the railings was Emile, with two dead Elites in front of him. The skull-faced Spartan if he didn't know any better was grinning at them from beyond the grave, as his kukri knife sticking out of the neck of the one that had stabbed him through the back.

Pushing his personal feelings aside for the time being, Six ran to the mass driver and climbed up the ladder. As he reached the top he grabbed the bars to swing himself into the operating station, the controls and seat were covered in glass that had been shattered when Emile at fired at the window...but thanks to his Mjolnir it didn't bother him. Falling in the seat he bushed away he glass from the controls before powering the Onagar as Banshees and Phantoms headed for him.

"I need fire on that cruiser, Noble Six!" The Captain barked impatiently over the comms as said Spartan blasted a Phantom, obliterating it with a single shot.

"On it, Captain." The Lieutenant responded as he turned the MAC to the left as Banshees and Phantoms fired at him, shattering his shields within a few shots. Gritting his teeth he fired at the closest Phantom, destroying it and the explosion taking out a Banshee that had gotten to close. He continued this for a while taking out multiple Phantoms and Banshees until the CCS-class battlecruiser got position above the Pillar of Autumn and opened the glassing port.

"Fire now, Lieutenant! Hit her in the gut!" Keyes barked as the Spartan-III aimed the cannon directly at the exposed glassing port that had opened...he charged the mass accelerator, fired and held his breath praying that he wouldn't miss his mark. Within the span of a second the slug hit its target, resulting in a massive explosion that destroyed the battlecruiser from the inside.

"Good guns, Spartan! All stations brace for cast off." Noble Six heard Captain Keyes over the comms as the Pillar of Autumn broke away from the refuelling station using the atmospheric rocket pods as he slowly climbed down the ladder and watched as the Halcyon-class light cruiser broke free of its moorings and pulled away. In the distance the CCS-class battlecruiser that he had shot down was plummeting to the surface. As the Covenant battlecruiser crashed into the surface destroying the ship and killing anything inside, the Autumn fired its starboard engine and dropped the rocket pods before disappearing through the clouds; leaving Reach forever.

"This is the Pillar of Autumn. We're away. The Package is with us." Came the Captains final transmission as Six stood atop the platform staring where the Autumn had previously been.

"Thank you." The voice startled the Spartan as instead of Captain Keyes the voice belonged to a woman. Her voice of soft and strangely enough sounded an awful lot like Doctor Halsey, though not as stern or withered.

Staring up at the stormy skies above Reach, lightning battered the upper atmosphere, thick clouds that had been tainted with ash from the continuous glassing twisted and churned making it seem like the gateway to Hell. As he stood there he accepted his fate, it was finally over, over for him at least. He had accomplished his mission, done as Doctor Halsey had instructed him when she had handed him the package underneath SWORD Base...even if it had cost the lives of both Carter and Emile to do so.

But with the package now secure and the Pillar of Autumn safely away from Reach then he hoped that Noble Teams deaths would be worth it in the end, that all their deaths would be worth it. He didn't have faith in the doctor...but Jorge did, and in the end that was enough for him.

"What is your next course of action, Noble Six?" Auntie Dot asked one of the last survivor of Noble Team. "I believe that it may be possible to locate a radiation bunker to protect yourself from both the Covenant and the radiation from the ongoing glassing until..."

"Nobody is coming, Dot." Six said plainly as looked where Emile was resting against the railings. With a heavy heart he walked towards his fallen brother and crouched down in front of his and removed his red shoulder piece, connecting it to his own armour before reaching for his dog-tags and placed them next to Carter's, Kat's, Jorge's and his own.

"You have earned your rest, brother." The former ONI operative whispered resting a hand on Noble Four shoulder.

Looking back he realized he had made the mistake of getting to close to them, something that he had avoided doing since he had learnt about the demise of Beta-Company from Kurt and Tom. He had lost one family, only to lose another six years later...but the part that was worse then losing them was not being there for them when they needed him the most. He didn't for a start think that he was the most skilled Spartan-III, regardless of his Hyper-Lethal status...but if he was there instead of operating under Ackerson then he maybe he could of saved some or at least die knowing that he had done his best to save his brothers and sisters from a pointless death that ultimately yielded nothing for the UNSC in the long run.

Coming out of his monologue, Six grabbed the shotgun that rested beside Emile and placed it on his back after reloading the shells that he had on his forearm. Stepping away from his fallen comrade, he hoped that Emile wouldn't mind if he took his equipment; though considering that he would be using them to kill more Covenant he liked to think that he would approve.

"If I am to assume correctly then you plan to wait for the Covenant to eliminate you?" The A.I vocalized as Six grabbed the Kurki from the Elites neck and placed it in the sheath after swiping the blood of the blade.

"More or less."

"I must concur, I fail to see the logic behind embracing your own self-destruction." Dot commented as the Spartan stared out in the distance where a single raised platform could be seen poking out the top of the ash and smoke. "You have not sustained any injuries that would hinder your chances of escaping, your armour is running smoothly from what I can tell and you're armed." She listed off.

"Maybe so." Six muttered as he shifted his DMR in his arms. In the distance he saw a single Phantom breaking through the clouds and heading his way; he guessed he wouldn't need to wait as long as he thought he would for his end to come.

"Then what is stopping you from finding a viable means of escape?" She pressed on earning a sigh from the Spartan-III commando.

"How would we escape?" Six retorted calmly, deciding to entertain the thought of escaping to fight another day.

"As I previously mentioned you could try locating a radiation bunker, it is highly probable that there would be one situated underneath the FLEETCOM Military complex in the Highland Mountains."

"Too far." The Hyper-Lethal rejected the idea entirely knowing that it would take days maybe even weeks to reach the complex, and that was without the Covenant slowing them down; furthermore there was issue of supplies. Not just because he was worried that he would eventually run out of ammo but there was the matter of food and water, two things that he knew would be in short supply now that Reach had fallen and a good percentage of the planet had been glassed.

"Then the only other option would be for you to commandeer a ship." Dot declared getting a humourless chuckle from the Spartan as he walked passed Emile and headed back the way he came.

"What ship?" He asked rhetorically as he reached the bottom of the steps where the Field Marshall he had eliminated was laying at the bottom. "The Autumn was our last means of escape." Added the Spartan as he leaped over the hole that the fuel road had caused on the platform then headed down the steps.

"You're correct, Noble Six. All Human ships have withdrawn from Reach...but there are plenty of Covenant vessels still on Reach."

"You can't be serious." The Spartan-III asked incredulously as he crossed the ground floor and exited the tower through the main entrance. Stepping into the light and the light drizzle that ran down his visor, he saw Phantom that he had seen in the distance was about four hundred yards away from his location.

"Why not?" She asked with a curious tone. " With the FLEETCOM Military Complex being out of the question, then commandeering a Covenant vessel seems to be your only viable alternative to escaping Reach."

"You want me to infiltrate a Covenant ship?"

"It is your only viable means of escape." If she had shoulders he was sure she would have shrugged them.

"Alone?"

"I was not suggesting that you take on a battlecruiser or supercarrier, Lieutenant." Auntie Dot countered coolly." However a smaller vessel such as a Corvette would not be out of the question for a man of your talents."

The Hyper-Lethal didn't say anything and instead sort of agreed with her; though not about his talents. No, rather about hijacking a Covenant Corvette to escape Reach. There was no way anybody let alone a Spartan could board a supercarrier and take it over alone. The UNSC or ONI didn't have a precise number on how many Covenant were aboard a single CSO-class supercarrier but it was in the tens of thousands, and there was no chance in hell that he would live to kill a quarter of that.

"Alright." Six nodded agreeing to her idea. Even if resulted in his death at least he could rest easy knowing that at least he had tried to get back to Earth to warn FLEETCOM that Reach had fallen; although maybe they already knew and had simply decided that it wasn't worth sending anymore fleets for a single planet...even if that planet was Reach.

Starting slow, the Spartan starting running into he was in full blown sprint crossing the stairwell in seconds then leapt down the stairs to reach the floor. As his feet landed he pressed on sprinting pass the bunker where he had gotten ammo for his DMR and sidearm and down the steps to the area he had fought the Brutes earlier, and where a certain Phantom was dropping off troops. As the hatch that was facing him opened he fired at the Grunts and Jackals inside that were all set to jump to surface. Emptying his entire magazine, he made short work of the Grunts killing them all with well-placed headshots until only the jackals were left.

Running harder than he ever had before, Six jumped from the cliff edge to the interior of the Phantom, traversing the gap that would have been impossible for anyone other than a Spartan to make. Landing with a thump, he gave the closest Jackal's shield a hard boot turning it red before disappearing entirely, and nearly shattering the avian-like alien arm in the process. Grabbing his sidearm, he aimed it then fired killing it with a shot to the head. Quickly turning his attention to the last remaining Jackal who in turn barred his/her/its teeth at him from behind the shield.

Throwing his DMR at the shield, the Kig-Yar stumbled back lowering their shield-arm enough for the Spartan to fire a round into their cranium, ending them there and there; all this happening within the span of a few seconds.

With all the Grunts and Jackals taken out of the equation, the Lieutenant headed for the cockpit where he saw a Grunt piloting the Phantom. Stepping behind the Grunt he placed his magnum against their head and applied pressure.

"Can you understand me?" Noble Six asked with a slight growl.

"Oh, no! Please don't eat me, Demon!" The Grunt cried hysterically as it began to hyperventilate. "Unggoy not taste good, me no taste good! Fatty, gargh! horrible, horrible! Not good for you! Nobody wants to eat, Unggoy…..well, apart from smelly, dumb gorillas, they'll eat anything!"

"Answer the question!"

"Flips understands." The Unggoy or Flip bobbed his head up and down then tried to take a quick look at the Demon only to feel the pressure increase. "Sorry, sorry! Just gets curious is all, hehehehe. Never seen Demon before, what's you look like? You big and mean like Sangheili say? But then Sangheili say a lot...mostly about honour though. You have an honour? They always telling me that I don't have any...but then I don't know where to get any, and believe me I've looked EVERYWHERE! Well when I say everywhere I mostly mean by the Food Nipple."

"Is there a Corvette nearby?" B312 interrogated and feeling the need to rub his temple from the Unggoy rambling. Honestly why couldn't the pilot have been an Elite? sure it would rather kill itself than answer his questions but at least he wouldn't have the headache he was experiencing right that second.

"...Why, what's you want wanting with it?" Flip inquired as he sat their patiently.

"Yes or no." Six said roughly, this Grunt was beginning to get on his nerves.

"...Yes."

"Take us there."

"But they's kill me if I do!" Flips exclaimed already imagining what the Sangheili would do if he brought a Demon back to their ship!

"I'll kill you if you don't."

"...You's not nice, Demon." The Grunt whined, sighing to himself knowing that he wasn't long for this world now, oh how life had been cruel to the Unggoy.

"I aim to please."

"I'm never going to see the glorious nipple again."

And cut! Well here is the first chapter of The Legacy Of Reach, I hoped you enjoyed this chapter...even if nothing really happened. This was a hard choice to make as I kept going back and forth debating on which era to have Six and Dot arrive in. During the Phantom Menace, the Clone Wars, Empire Era or going back to the Old Republic...but as you can see I've picked the Empire Era.

Nothing else to say really other then let me know what you think.
