Second Chances

Chapter 1 Arrival

"

Serena flipped a strand of long ebony colored hair from her face and checked the rear view mirror. Marley was bouncing up and down in her seat.

"How can you have that much energy?" Serena asked.

"I'm excited," Marley said.

"If you don't knock it off I'm going to slap you silly," Harley threatened.

Marley and Harley also known as the Wonder twin because there last name was Wonder were identical twenty-six year old strawberry blondes with eyes the color of melted chocolate. They were tiny, barely five feet tall with small bones and pretty almost doll like features. They could pass for high school students and always got carded at bars.

"Hit her," Ronnie encouraged. "All that bouncing is making me motion sick and Pepper doesn't like it either."

Ronnie was a red head of average height, pretty with neat even features and hazel almost amber colored eyes. Pepper was her ex-boyfriend's chocolate lab. He'd been an abusive prick. It was bad enough that he smacked her around, but when he abused Pepper by making her perform unspeakable acts on him that was when it was time to leave.

The van began to slow and smoke poured from beneath the car's hood just as they passed the Welcome to Charming sign.

"What are the chances the shuttle bus breaks down just inside Charming's city limits?" Marley asked.

"Actually pretty high," Serena replied. She wasn't pretty; she was beautiful. She had long dark hair with bluish highlights and exquisite blue eyes framed by thick black eyelashes and a pouty full lipped mouth. She was also tall with large full breasts. She always turned heads when she walked into a room.

"Why is that?" Ronnie asked.

"Many women's cars break down just inside the city limits. It's kind of like the Bermuda triangle for cars only they don't disappear, they just break down," Serena explained.

"What are we going to do," Marley asked. She'd finally quit bouncing in her seat.

"We need men to rescue us and tell us what to do," Harley said. She was an old fashioned girl who loved the damsel in distress fantasy. She was tired of rescuing and fixing men. It was her turn.

"There are these outlaw bikers who sort of roam the streets of the town. If they happen across you, they will fix your car usually for free, convince you to stay in town and even help you find a job and a place to live," Serena said.

"Kind of like free lance social workers with mechanic skills," Ronnie guessed, "and they really don't expect anything in return?"

"Not that I've heard of," Serena replied. "They also help out with stalkers and abusive exes."

"Another reason you picked Charming for your business," Ronnie guessed.

"It sounds like Snow White and the Seven Dwarves to me," Marley said. She was a big fan of fairy tales and was always trying to fit her disastrous romances into one.

"Well if it's like Snow White, there has to be a prince," Harley said.

"And there is one. He's the VP of the MC. Tall, blonde, blue-eyed. His nickname is Prince Charming. He doesn't call himself that though. I've only seen him from a distance," Serena said.

"Is he sexy?" Ronnie asked.

"I'd say he's hotter than lukewarm."

"We might as well get out of the van. Pepper needs to stretch her legs anyway," Ronnie said snapping on Pepper's leash.

"How long do you think it will be before the MC guys rescue us?" Harley asked.

"Let's give them a half hour. If we haven't seen them by then, I'll call the Auto club," Serena said.

"Why don't you call the Auto club now?" Ronnie asked.

"Because having your car break down is a great way to meet them. It's fate," Serena replied. "If they do turn up, be mysterious and don't tell them why we're really here."

"Good idea," Ronnie said.

"Is Prince Charming off limits," Marley asked.

"No, but good luck staking a claim on him," Serena said.

The four women and Pepper got out of the van. Improving their chances of getting help, they were all conveniently wearing cut off shorts.

"I think I hear motorcycles," Marley exclaimed beginning to jump up and down.

"Knock off the jumping," Harley warned. "You look like an idiot."

"I used to be a cheerleader. I know how to bounce correctly."

Jax, Chibs, Happy, Kozik and Bobby rode past them. The women exchanged disappointed looks. Jax and the guys circled around and pulled up behind them. They got off their bikes and walked up to the women.

"What can I help you with, darlin'?" Jax asked walking up to Serena and slowly removing his leather gloves before tucking them into an inside pocket of his cut.

"A little van trouble," she said.

"There's a lot of that going around in Charming. We'd be more than happy to help you ladies."

Serena smiled. It was exactly how she predicted.
