A while back, I got a request from Gabeherndon308 for a Starship Troopers AVP crossover, so I figured I'd at least post a chapter and see if this catches anyone's interest. Now I like both AVP and Starship Troopers as much as the next person and there are a few crossover stories on the sight, but none have been updated since they were put onto the sight, so I figure I might try my hand at it.
It's funny, I was considering a Star Wars/Starship Trooper crossover a few years ago, but lost interest in it after a while and put more focus into my Lone Wolf Series, but you never know it might return to me. Anyways, here is the first chapter of the story. This takes place after the events of the second movie and the 2005 computer game.
Disclaimers are the same as they have always been, please enjoy.
Chapter 1: Trouble Arising
Dropping out of lightspeed, the recon cruiser Detector came to a complete stop before it deployed a series of recon probes to investigate Zulu Alpha. A planet deep within the Arachnid Quarantine Zone with hostile conditions ranging from deadly sandstorms, fog, darkness and worst of all bugs.
It had been five years since the war with the bugs began following the destruction of Buenos Aires, a few weeks after the Battle of Hesperus and only four years since the Federation learned of a new type of bug that could control humans and bend them to the will of the bugs. Had it not been for the actions of former Private Lie Sahara and Captain V.J. Dax the bugs would have bypassed Federation defenses and cripple their ability to fight.
Despite knowing of these bugs, the Federation top brass were concerned of these bugs returning and had only just dispatched the Detector to Zulu Alpha not just because of these bugs, but to investigate the possibility of returning to the planet and see if there was a chance to establish a forward observation post in the event the bugs were to launch an attack on another one of the Federation colony worlds.
Captain Declan Macdonald, a forty-four-year-old British male with brown hair, green eyes and black skin knew that it was a risky move by the brass to send in any kind of ship. The Arachnid Quarantine zone is where the Arachnids originate from and any planet in the zone was chalk full of bugs on the surface, complete with Plasma Bugs which would decimate a single ship with a single blow.
He tried to reason with his commanders, but they were under immense pressure from Milo West, a representative of the Weyland-Yutani corporation, which had come under immense backlash in the recent years due to numerous investigations of many of their colony worlds which revealed that the company has been sacrificing both lives and decency in the pursuit of making money.
One such case was the use of colonists as bait for the Arachnids on an uncharted planet just outside the Quarantine zone. All the colonists were slaughtered and the company had lost billions of dollars and customers in their quest for greater profit.
"Captain," Declan heard and turned to see one of the crew members salute him. "We are ready to launch the probes now." The crew member said.
"Launch them immediately." He ordered.
Dozens of recon probes were launched from the ship, each the size of a cannonball and colored black to keep them from being detected. All of the probes entered the atmosphere before they scattered across the planets surface and began to scan the area's they been assigned to.
"Magnificent, isn't it." Milo said, looking down to the planet. "To think that on this world, an Arachnid was found capable of controlling a human being. The possibility of using them is endless." He added.
"Possibility my ass, the only good bug is a dead bug. They've killed a lot of humans over the course of this damn war." Declan cursed, remembering that one of the people the bugs killed was his son during the battle of Klendathu in a failed attempt to end the war in one battle by Sky Marshall Dienes.
"That is a weakness, Captain. There is so much we can learn from the Arachnids and perhaps we can use that knowledge to…" Milo began before he was rudely interrupted. "Just so you can use more colonists as test subjects for the bugs to kill? No Fucking Way is that going to happen." A nearby marine said.
"Captain, I've got something on radar. Its not one of the probes, its plasma from the surface!" one of the crewmen shouted as a blast of bright blue plasma streaked past the bridge.
"EVASIVE ACTION!" Declan shouted at the top of his lungs as the ship shuddered as plasma flew past the ship. His order came too late as a plasma ball slammed into the ship's starboard engine. "Captain Macdonald to all personal. Abandon ship, I repeat abandon ship. Once you land, find a stronghold and wait there. I've activated the distress beacon; the fleet will come for us." Declan ordered as the bridge crew headed for the escape pod.
Explosions erupted from all around the ship, killing crewmen who were trying to reach the escape pods. Those that made it to the pods quickly fled the vessel only to have a few of them get shot down by bug plasma. Only a few of the pods made it down before the Detector was destroyed.
No one knew, that the whole incident was witnessed by a cloaked ship which had arrived far earlier than the Federation ship. Three of its crew looked to each other and spoke in a language only they understood before they walked off the bridge to another section of the ship.
When the pods crashed down on the surface, the survivors arrived at the closest Stronghold and powered up its defense's, ready incase the bugs decided to launch an attack. However, much to their surprise, the Arachnids didn't even make an attempt to attack them even when they were making their way towards the Stronghold. Something didn't add up and the survivors were about to find out.
Three weeks later
Fort Bragg, United States of America
Mobile Infantry, American branch
Found in 2101, long before the Terran Federation came into power the United States Colonial Marine Corps is considered the close brother of the Mobile Infantry. Compared to the Mobile Infantry, those that served in the Corps weren't made citizens as compared to the armed services of the Federation.
While the United States was part of the Federation, it didn't exactly follow the same structure of command as the Mobile Infantry and operated separately from the Infantry but often worked together on joint operations.
Putting his 1911 handgun back together, Lance Corporal Ray Miller a young man with brown hairs and black hair from New England holstered his pistol before heading to the briefing room. Despite being one of the youngest FMG's at the age of 21, Miller knew something was up, mostly due to the fact that there were more Mobile Infantry DR-4 Vikings and DR-8 Skyhooks outnumbered the amount of Cheyenne dropships and APC's on the base, same could be said for the amount of Mobile Infantry forces on base.
He soon got his answer when he arrived at the briefing room where Colonel Damian Sampson, the man in charge of the base was waiting with Arthur Gordon, a member of Weyland Yutani and Mobile Infantry Special Ops General Rory Santiago.
The rest of the base personal and Mobile Infantry Special Ops soldiers soon arrived and the briefing began. "I assume that you all have questions about why the Mobile Infantry are on the base," Damian began as everyone took their seats. "But we have a situation on our hands people. A situation in bug country." He added.
Everyone murmured in confusion before Santiago spoke up. "Three weeks ago, we sent one our Recon Cruisers to Zulu Alpha in the Arachnid Quarantine in the even that the bugs might be using their control bugs again. Shortly afterwards we lost all contact with the ship and we assumed it was destroyed with all hands lost."
"Turns out, there are survivors from the ship and they were able to establish a safe zone in one of the Strongholds on the planet. However, when we reestablished contact with the survivors, we heard this on the transmission." Sampson added and played back the recording. Everyone present heard the screeching of something out of their worst nightmares.
"We believe the bugs might have a new member of their species. If that is the case, we need information on the alien's capabilities and its features." Arthur said, fascinated by the thought of discovering a new member of the Arachnid species.
"Aside from the bugs, this mission is a joint operation between both the Mobile Infantry and the Corps. Your mission is to locate the survivors from the Detector and find out what exactly is going on in the bug zone. If it proves to be a threat to Earth, we'll glass the planet and send in the Infantry and Corps to mop up any remaining bugs." Sampson stated after clearing his throat.
"Colonel," Ray began. "What if we find something else?" he asked.
"Our intelligence on Zulu Alpha shows the only thing anyone has to worry about is the bugs. Now get moving Corporal!" The colonel said to Ray who saluted. Deep down, Ray had a bad feeling about what they were going to find on the planet.
And end first chapter. Tell me what you think.
