So… I did a thing. I have too many ideas in my head but not enough motivation, skill and practice to attempt writing a novel like Inuyasha fanfic. This is my attempt at showing the Inuyasha community my love for all things Inuyasha and fanfiction. I'll be attempting to do a series of writing prompts all based on my favorite couple (KagInu). Hope you enjoy!

Disclaimer: I do not own Inuyasha and these writing prompts were taken from Pinterest. The idea for this collection is mine.

Writing Prompt 1: Soulmates

You live in a world where your soulmate is unable to hurt you, intentionally or otherwise. You are fighting in a war when one of the enemies knives harmlessly glances off of you.

"Are you sure about this? Your father is going to stab me, scratch that he will purify my ass if anything were to happen to you. We should head back now."

Even above all of the noise, he could hear the conversation happening to his left. Maintaining his focus on the demon before him he executed a series of well-placed hits before finishing him off just in time to hear the response.

"Of course I'm sure. Is there any other place I should be? I was born to do this and I will not sit on the sidelines just because I'm scared. Thanks for coming with me though, you really didn't have to."

"Why wouldn't I have come with you? I would never leave you alone. Hurry these are the last of the bandages and there are two more to your left that you should look at before we move on. I'll start on them while you finish with this one."

It was as if he had gotten tunnel vision at the sound of the second voice. He didn't question why it sounded so out of place among all of the fighting but the world shifted and rearranged itself in a way that had him gasping for air. He couldn't breathe, why the fuck couldn't he breathe! Attention on the soldier in front of him, he had the strongest urge to raise his sword in his direction. Advancing on the pair diligently working on the wounded, he raised his sword and brought it down in a large arc over the soldiers' head.

What happened next scared and calmed something foreign inside of him.

One minute the sword was falling and the next it bounced off as if a force field had formed around the soldier. He never missed so it should have been a clean hit but there was nothing to show that his weapon had made contact. Absorbed in what had just happened, he failed to see and block the fist heading straight towards him.

"Kouga! What are you doing! We most certainly did not come to fight!"

"Well excuse me but this shit for brains here attacked you! The coward, attacking someone with no weapon and whose back is turned."

Having been called many things but never a coward he bristled at the insult and was in the process of opening his mouth when a pair of big blue eyes appeared out of nowhere, encroaching on his personal space and stealing his breath again. The soldier was a girl!

"You jerk! Stay away from us and go fight someone your own size! We have done nothing wrong!"

Her scent, her voice, her eyes all combined to shut off his brain and restart his system. It was as if in that moment his life was split in two: before and after this mystery woman….. NO….. the ONE. He had found her! Fucking hell he had found her! On this shitty battlefield, he had found her and he couldn't say two words to her beside looking like a fucking koi fish out of water.

"-go! We have to go now!"

"We can't go now, we haven't finished helping everyone"

"No! You said you wouldn't argue with me and we go back now Kagome!"

" Fine, Fine."

Pulling himself back to reality in time to see them walking away, Inuyasha didn't fail to miss the look that the stupid wolf demon at her side sent him, a clear back the fuck off look. He could see that the look had nothing to do with their present predicament but rather about the young woman. Kagome…..Kagome, that was her name, that the wolf was dragging away. The love that the demon had for Kagome was evident and served to set his teeth on edge and hardened his resolve. He had finally found her and he would not walk away.

Quickly releasing a roar to call his army back, Inuyasha knew he would be back. He refused to continue living a minute without his soulmate. The stories had been true after all, he would have to thank Miroku when he got back.

Following behind the pair at a safe distance, Inuyasha assured himself that Kagome was safe behind the walls of the castle before heading home. Feeling lighter than air, he knew he would do everything in his power to see Kagome again. He would make things work, he had to.
