Chris lay on his own bed in the Tortuga. His creature pod was alarmingly loud due to his set time to get up. Since he was in a dream, he thought the sound was actually a truck backing up right in his dream.
He didn't notice about his creature pod until he felt some strange activity on him. He finally woke up and saw Martin grinning at him, "Wakey, Wakey sleepy heady."
Chris sat up as Martin shut the alarm off. Chris looked at the time and saw it was 7:15 in the morning. He yawned and stretched out his sleepy limbs which were a bit upset for his waking up.
Chris stratched his bare arms 'cause of his medical "Sleep Rash". Martin said, "Don't scratch those rashes, Chris."
Chris sighed, "I'm so tired... And I slept good last night."
Martin smiled, "Yeah, sure. Come on, I got to show you something."
Chris rubbed his eyes, "I got to get dressed..."
Martin rolled his eyes, "You're taking forever! If you were married and your girl's water broke in the morning, it would take you thirty minutes just to get ready and get in the car and get her to the hospital."
Chris raised an eyebrow, "What now?"
Martin snorted, "Nevermind. Come hurry up and meet me in the HQ."
As Martin shut his brother's door shut, Chris fell back on his back and cuddled in his blankets. He was still tired and wanted just a few more minutes of sleep. He dozed off to sleep and started to dream again.
"CHRIS KRATT! WAKE UP!"
Chris jerked up, "Just a few minutes, Martin..."
Martin picked up the alarm clock, "7:20 and 8:45 is not a few minutes."
Chris' tired eyes widened and he got out of bed and slipped his shorts on. Martin said, "What has been wrong with you? You've been sleeping in, lately."
Chris looked up as he reached for a clean shirt, "I don't know..."
Martin chuckled, "Who sleeps with a shirt on and boxers?"
Chris raised an eyebrow, "What? That's just how I sleep."
Martin's face was hiding a laugh, "Yeah... I can sleep no shirt, no shorts, just boxers, but a shirt AND boxers... Were you 'too tired' to take off your shirt last night?"
Chris shrugged his shoulders as he fixed his clean shirt in his shorts and slipped his boots on his socked feet. Then, he was about to fill his pockets with creature gear, when martin grabbed him, "Wait for that, Chris. Just come on."
Chris was led by Martin to the HQ. There the gang sat bored at the round-about table. Martin blocked Chris' view and said, "Sleepy head, just because you are older, doesn't mean you can sleep more."
Chris groaned, "I just have been tired, Martin... I don't get it either... Just tired..."
Martin smiled, "Well, in that case, you forgot then."
Chris rolled his eyes, "I just want to go outside, okay? I'm not in the mood to fool around right now."
Martin grabbed Chris' arm, "Wait! You forgot? You have a calendar in your bedroom? What is up with you?"
"Martin, stop... I don't want to play, okay?"
Martin smirked, "Then, you don't want to celebrate your birthday?"
Chris' eye widened wide, "What?"
Martin smiled, "Today's your birthday."
Chris lay a hand on his forehead, "What?"
Aviva smiled, "Someone needs to stop sleeping so much."
Chris walked from the HQ to his bedroom and looked at his calendar... Indeed, April 10th was his birthday. He snapped his forehead, "Now I look like an idiot!"
Martin said, "No, it's just that you forgot. That's what makes it a better surprise!"
Chris turned to Martin, "What surprise?"
Martin took Chris' arm and led him to the HQ and showed him the table. Right at the table was his parents. Chris' eyes widened and in seconds he was in his mother's arms.
William laughed, "Chris is such a sleeper. I highly understand that. He got that from me."
Linda hugged her son close to her. Chris felt so secure even more with his mother there with him, "MOM!"
Linda smiled, "We got a present for you, Chris."
Chris looked at his mother, "I'm too old for presents, Mom..."
Linda smiled and looked at William. William smirked, "But this is a special present."
Martin, his wife, and the gang looked on, expecting William to pull up a box or something... But instead he said, "Jimmy Z, could you bring the Tortuga over to Maine?"
Jimmy stood up, "Aye, Aye sir!"
Chris held on to his mother the whole way. Martin asked Chris to join him for a second and Chris went with his brother to the garage.
"So what do you think it is?"
Chris blushed, "I'm too old for presents, Martin... Especially at my birthday."
Martin smiled, "Well, it's always look to wonder."
Chris thought for a period, "Maybe... clothes?"
Martin facepalmed, "That's what came to your head?! I think it could be a family dinner, you know?"
Chris smiled, "Could be."
The Tortuga finally landed. William told his boys to stay put at the Tortuga, that he would be right back. Chris and Martin lingered at the ramp, waiting eagerly to know what their parents had in mind for Chris.
Linda smiled, "I know you would love this present, Chris. Your father and I have thought about it and we want you to be happy forever."
Martin lost his smile. He grew tense in his body and disappeared in the Tortuga for a bit. Chris still had his smile, but wondered why Martin just left without telling him. He got up and went to Martin, who was sitting on his bed, fiddling with his hands.
"Bro?"
"Chris? I hope Mom and Dad isn't going to take you away."
"I'm sure they're not going to do that. It could be somethign special."
Martin jumped up, "I hope it's not what I think it is."
"What?"
"Nevermind..."
Minutes later, William came back in his truck. Chris was in his bedroom, sorting some clean clothes in his dresser. Martin walked to the garage and said to his mother, "Chris is folding his clothes in his bedroo - Mother!"
A young woman jumped out of the truck. Martin was jaw-dropped. Linda closed his mouth, "She's prefect for Chris."
Martin looked at his mother, "Are you nuts?"
The girl came running up the ramp. She stumbled the distance, but ran into Martin's arms. She screamed, "Oh, it's him! He's so precious! Precious! Precious!"
William laughed, "That's Chris' brother."
The girl danced around tensed Martin and said, "Where is he?! Is he in here?!"
Martin looked at his parents in shock, "You know Chris... He HATES excited girls."
William smiled, "Well, we'll break him of that."
Martin wanted to save his brother, and ran after the girl. He found her in the HQ hugging terrified Jimmy. he said, "Leave Jimmy alone!"
The girls stared at Martin with dropped jaws. The new girl hugged Martin, "Where is he? Where? Where? Where?!"
Martin heard the door in front of him open... Chris came in holding in front of him a pillow sheet... He jaw dropped at Martin and this girl. Martin said, "Out at the garage..."
The girl looked ahead, "He wasn't there, Martin..." Then she turned around and gasped. Chris was still wide-eyed. He looked at Laura, who took was staring at him.
The girl screamed, "Christopher, baby!"
Chris screamed and dropped the pillow sheet and ran from the HQ. Aviva screamed, "What is going on?!"
Martin screamed on the top of his lungs while running after his brother and the crazy girl, "MOM AND DAD GOT CHRIS A GIRLFRIEND!"
Aviva's jaw dropped, "Uh, oh... STOP HER!"
All day, twelve hours passed. Sun had setted. Chris was in the same place since 10 that morning. He found a vent big enough for his body to fit comfortably... But staying in the same place all day, not eating or drinking... and even worse not using the bathroom, made him feel uncomfortable. All that raced in his head that his birthday went from great to worse in just one hour. Now it has been twelve hours.
Martin found Chris piled in the vent. He went over to the vent and said, "Bro... Are you okay?"
"Of course not... She's crazy!"
"Shhh... She'll hear you."
"I can't get out of here with her in this place..."
"How long have you been in there?"
"What time is it?"
"10:26 p.m."
Chris' body tensed, "Seriously?"
"Yeah, why?"
"I've been here for over tweleve hours..."
Martin said, "Hiding?"
"No break... no eating or drinking..."
Martin said, "She doesn't know your bedroom. I got the minitizer. Get mini sized and I'll bring you back to your bedroom."
Chris smiled, "Even if I have to stay small forever, I can live a life of free... Uh, Martin?"
Martin smiled, "No, I got it right here."
"No... behind you."
Martin's eyes widened as he slowly turned around. The girl screamed, "BOO!"
Both brothers scrambled apart. But the girl took hold of Chris. Chris screamed as he fell to the floor. The girl sat on top of him, as Chris tried to break free. She smiled, "Don't you look so handsome being scared!"
Chris cried, "Martin, help!"
Martin said, "Please, whoever you are, just get off of Chris..."
The girl smiled, "Oh, I have been so rude. My name is Lauren."
Chris' jaw dropped, "Oh, no! Help!"
The gang came running in and covered their mouths to see Lauren on Chris. Martin had his eyes covered. Laura said, "Martin, what's wrong?"
"Her name is LAUREN!"
Laura blushed, "Uh, oh..."
Chris screamed, "Get off of me!"
Aviva stepped up to the plate, "Lauren... Not Laura," When Laura looked at her sister, "Lauren, Chris has been hiding for a long time, let him get some sleep tonight."
Lauren jumped up, "Can I sleep with him?!"
Chris backed away, while crawlling on the floor, "Heck, no!"
William said, "Chris. Respect the lady."
Chris grew very tensed as the girl curled up to him. Laura had to look away, but she saw Aviva squeezing her fists tightly and her face was red and angry. She didn't bother her sister, but feared what could be on her mind.
Linda said, "I wish you could just get out of your single state, Chris. You're not going to stay single forever."
Chris cried, "I don't want her!"
William stamped his foot in anger, "Alright then. We're make sure you feel for her."
Chris stared at parents in shock, "What?"
Linda answered, "You better pack your bags, Chris. 'Cause this place is making you stay single."
A faint growl was heard. No one knew where it came from, but William scolded his youngest son for growling. Chris begged that he didn't do it and that he loved the Tortuga. Linda scolded her son for not listening. Chris ran behind Martin, who was standing like a statue, "If you take Chris out of my life again... I'll never forgive myself..."
William said, "The best way for Lauren to be with Chris is to take the things Chris loves away."
Chris was now crying. Lauren hugged him and touched his biceps with her sharp colored fingernail. Chris gulped as he looked at Martin.
Martin said, "You can't take Chris from me, Mom..."
Linda sighed, "I'm sorry. Maybe when Chris marries Lauren, he can come back here and be like his big brother."
Chris sniffed several times. He held the rest of his tears in his eyes.
William said, "Chris, pack your bags. In the morning, you're going to live with us until you marry Lauren."
Lauren screamed, "YES! I'M MARRYING A WILD MAN!"
Chris grew very depressed that night. He locked himself in his bedroom and toss himself on his bed, crying his eyes out. Martin was so concerned for his brother that he actually put a ladder to his window and climbed into Chris' bedroom through the window.
Chris looked up and said, "I don't want to leave the Tortuga."
Martin unlocked the door and Aviva came in. She had a carpet bag for Chris to put his clothes in. Chris covered himself with his comforter and said, "I rather have this bed for myself... Whenever I wake up, I'm all over it..."
Aviva only smiled, "Chris... It's all natural. You might want the bed to yourself, but you can't control love."
Chris looked at Aviva after poking his head from under the blanket, "Really? I am not in love with Lauren."
Martin fitted each of Chris' clothes in the bag and said, "I can fully explain that, Chris. Laura and I fell in love and broke up not because of differences but because of careers. Then, we got together and got married. It could be the same with you."
Chris covered his head, "With a girl who just screams all the time?"
Martin blushed, "Maybe she'll get out of that habit."
"Maybe? Maybe?" Chris repeated. His eyes filled with tears and said, "I don't want to leave the Tortuga."
Aviva said, "I got to get Laura some clothes from the dryer. See ya, guys."
After Aviva left, Chris sat up and said, "I rather marry a pack of hedgehogs than to marry Lauren."
Martin answered, "Silly, You can't marry hedgehogs."
Chris answered, "I wish."
