Prologue- A New Selection

Crown Prince Andrew was not having a good day.

His sisters were being extra annoying, trying as hard as they possibly could to be as loud as possible- he could hear their constant chatter from down the hall. They were probably gushing about some cute boys they saw at the live press event the previous day. Despite being royal, they were determined to be as normal as possible.

To make matters worse, the previous day, his father had announced a selection would be taking place. He had a girlfriend, for goodness sHe didn't even consult Andrew before! He didn't want to have to be stuck in a palace with 35 girls, all fighting over him- he didn't want to be a prize to be won. He wanted to be able to tell his children of the tales on how he met their mother- and not say it was through a measly competition.

Besides, he was cut out to be a ruler. He was intelligent, can keep calm under pressure, good on a camera, and handsome, too. He'd been pleasing the country ever since he was a young child- he didn't need a wife to help him with that.

But here he sat, staring out the window at the palace garden, thinking about all the girls flooding into the palace, invading his home, and manipulating him to choose them as his wife- like he wanted one, anyways.

He knew there was no way out of this, so he made a plan. He would pick someone who the country would like, who had ties to potential allies, who was smart, kind, and caring- even if he didn't love her. He needed someone who would rule beside him and not be a complete pain in the neck. He nodded to himself. Yes, he thought, That plan will surely help me succeed.

His father said the selection letters were going out today, and the girls would be selected by the beginning of next week. That means he has two weeks to prepare himself for a palace full of girls. Would they get into fights over him? Maybe. Would they love him? Probably. Do they just want his crown? Some of them do. He sat, contemplating on all the ways of how it could play out.

Without warning, his door flew open. "Agh!" Andrew cried. "Serenity! I could have been changing for all you know! At least knock!"

Serenity, Andrew's sister, scrunched her nose in disgust. "Yuck, good thing you weren't. Dad wants you downstairs."

Andrew rolled his eyes, pushing the golden chair with intricate swirls on it out from under his desk. He walked down the staircase, his footsteps echoing throughout the palace. He proceeded to his father's study. The door was slightly ajar. Andrew rapped on the door a few times before pushing it open. "Father?"

"Oh, Andrew! Come in, come in," his father boomed, taking off his black glasses,

"Serenity said you sent for me," he said, fiddling with his thumbs. "Is anything wrong? Rebel attacks? Troubles with allies? The selection is cancelled?" He asked, a slight hint of hope in his voice while suggesting the last topic.

"Oh, no. Not at all. I just wanted your opinion on something, for the selection," King Charles explained.

"Oh," Andrew muttered. He huffed to himself. He was not looking forward to the selection at all. Maybe he would be able to sneak out to see his girlfriend- his parents knew, yes, but that didn't stop his father from starting the selection.

The next few hours were spent by Andrew helping his father decide various things about how the girls wanted to live in the palace. When he was finally allowed to slip out, he headed straight for the large, wooden doors to the entrance of the castle. He had let his girlfriend, Sierra know that he would be out soon, and there she was, waiting.

"Hey SiSi," he smiled, kissing her warm, blonde hair. He grasped her skin, smooth and sun-kissed. Sierra, much to his dismay, ripped her hand out of his.

"It's Sierra to you," she said coldly. Andrew furrowed his brow. What ever could he have done wrong? They loved each other.

"What's wrong?" He asked.

"The selection. Why, Drew? I thought you loved me," she said, her voice barely above a whisper. Tears rolled down her pink cheeks.

"Sierra, I promise, it wasn't me, please, don't get mad at me, it was all my dad. I want you, not them!" He pleaded, squeezing her hands.

"You can't cancel it, Drew. Your father sent the letters out already. Maria, Rachel and I got the letter in the mail today."

"I'm sure I can find some way to rig you into it, I promise. I'll have my sisters pull a few- I know they can find a way to pull your name. I know it. Just don't leave me, please. You're my sunshine on a rainy day," he begged her.

Sierra nodded. "If you can make it happen," she said, smiling slightly. "Then I can have more time with you, right?" She asked, her eyes big and round.

Andrew nodded. "I can, I promise." Sierra bobbed her head. After a short conversation, Sierra left to get back to her home, and Andrew dashed back up to his room. Instead of going into his, though, he knocked on Serenity and Felicity's bedroom door.

The door was pulled open. "What do you want, Andrew?" Felicity asked.

"Can you help me with something?"

Felicity let him in warily, letting him explain. "I don't want to do the selection, I want to be with Sierra. Can you two rig it somehow? Please? You still owe me from the water balloon incident- it's the reason why the Duchess and Duke never come to our holiday parties anymore," he pleaded.

Felicity eyed Serenity. She bit the inside of her cheek, looking at the ceiling. Was it really worth risking it? Her parents would be suspicious in the first place, but she did still owe her brother.

"Let's do it."

.xXx.

Hey guys! I'm Cookie, and welcome to my first ever SYOC! I'm super eager to write this story, and I hope you liked the Prologue! The form and info will be up on my account. I will be accepting 34 girls, as Sierra will be apart of the story. Sierra won't win though, so one of your characters will win!

Remember that I like diversity in characters, from race to personality to motive. I will accept almost any character, and make sure to be detailed! I will start the story with the girls when I first get 3 girls. I will be doing introductions to characters!

This story is a universe where nobody from the original series existed. The royals are more organized and kinder though. Also, the caste system is more flexible, but that doesn't stop people from judging others based on caste.

I will be accepting a minimum of 15 girls, and a maximum of 34. The submissions will stay open for a good while, but make sure to get characters in ASAP!

Please let me know what you thought of this chapter, and I would love if you submit! Thanks!
