Ok, first off, my name is Herbert Wilhelm Lowry. I am, as of current 2020, 16 years of age and attending a nice school in rural, Kent, England. Well, not really, I'm actually been home because of this quarantine debacle.
A little bit about myself, is that I'm the youngest of four and have three older sisters. I am literally the baby of my family, as my youngest sister, Natasha is eighteen years older than me. Crazy right, I know, I get that a lot at my school. My parents, who are now in their early 60s', had me when they were quite old.
As sad as it is, I'm a very lonely boy, as I have no friends. That's the cold blooded truth, as the people I hang out with at school are my cousin and his friends. But enough about my sad life, let's talk about my passion.
And that is, of course, Harry Potter.
I love Harry Potter, It's my favourite book series and I know way too many facts about these books. Honestly, I can tell every Minister for Magic in a number of seconds or the spell that Lupin uses to get the gumb out of the keyhole in Prisoner.
Oh, I almost forgot, I should probably describe myself. I'm a good six foot two tall, something I'm very proud of and I'm one of the hairest people you will find. I have long-ish brunette hair and I practically have a beard, although it's more like bum fluff than anything. I wouldn't say I'm handsome, really I think I'm ugly but I'm perfectly fine with that. I have very plain hazel eyes and I'm caucasian, although that doesn't matter.
But back to Potter, I'm a very avid fan of fanfiction and I admit I have written some (Just look up Dirtydexter79, breaking the fourth wall. Wink, wink). I'm also what true HP fans would call a Hinny shipper. That's right, canon all the way, baby. Ginny is the only one for Harry in my eyes. I literally puke every time I see another person with Harry, it's just plain wrong. I started reading the HP books when I myself was eleven, my sisters introduced me to them as they had read them when they first came out, and even when reading Philosopher's Stone, I could tell that Ron's little sister would eventually become the future Mrs Potter.
I read all seven, damn books before watching the films and I must say, I was a little disappointed in them, but I won't go into that, I'm not the biggest fan of talking about the movies.
Talking about films in general, my favourite film of all time is The Big Lebowski by the Coen Brothers. It is great and if any one bad mouths it, I will beat them to death with a bowling ball. I also like other films and I'm an avid reader of comic books. I love Batman, so basically I'm a big old nerd.
So, I'm currently reading a book, as per usual. It's Half-Blood Prince, my favourite HP book, and I'm on the chapter where Harry goes to the Burrow. It's August 31st and tomorrow I'm going back to school.
I sighed, going back to school would mean going back to my day to day life of just enjoying lessons, mainly English and History and then not enjoying everything else.
I sighed again before clearing my head of all thoughts of school and returned to reading. A few minutes later I heard my mum call for dinner. I put my bookmark in place and walked down stairs.
I found my parents at the table with my sister, Natasha and nephew, Max, who had been staring with us during quarantine. I had never been told who the father of Max was and to be honest, if my sister hadn't kept him in her son's life, I didn't care.
"Hiya, uncle Herbie," Max, who was eight-years-old by the way, said, smiling a toothy smile.
"Hullo, Maxie," I said back, ruffling his hair before sitting down next to him. He liked me a lot and liked spending time with me. We had beef stew that night, my dad's favourite and I decided to join the rest of my family in the sitting room.
I played with Max, helping him build some form of castle out of lego to allow my sister to talk to our parents about more pressing matters. She was a nurse with the NHS, so she was busy in the current climate.
It must have been a few hours until we went upstairs to bed. I stayed up for a little while, wanting to finish my chapter.
I eventually did finish it and decided to go to sleep. I took one more sigh at going back to school and, not for the first time, I wished I was in the Harry Potter universe, doing magic and attending Hogwarts School of Witchcraft and Wizardry.
I closed my eyes and did what I did best. I started to dream.
I hope you enjoyed that. The character of Herbert is based on myself. Also, review if you must. See you next time.
