Amy's Crappy B-Day
Amy woke up from the cold breeze blowing against her face. She pushed herself up to see a shining sun and pretty much nothing else.
"Eh," Amy moaned with distaste. She flipped open her phone to try and check what time it was, but the sun was being a prick. She put her hand over her forehead so that she could get a glimpse. She read the date and paused for a moment.
That's right! Amy remembered today was in fact her birthday. She had almost forgotten since it seems nothing consequential ever happens on her birthday. She doesn't have any family to celebrate it with, and her friends sure as heck don't care. Do they even remember?
Amy hopped off Sonic's roof and landed on her feet like she had done a million times before her birthday. Amy tended to sleep on Sonic's roof because she had no where to go and was just going to head back to his house the next day anyways. She walked up to Sonic's open window and climbed inside.
Amy hoped to see either a present or a congratulations sign, just something that signified they remembered. She isn't always as pessimistic as people think. All she got, though, was a fridge door slowly creaking open, revealing a red enchilada with a pyramid scheme on his head.
"Surpriseā¦" Knuckles mumbled as he blew his party whistle with as little enthusiasm as possible. He was holding a plate of stale looking pancakes. "Uh, we made these last week, and I thought you might want one." He extended the plate towards her. "Don't get the wrong idea, this isn't your present, I just thought you might, uh, want a little more than what we got you."
Amy stared at the stale pancakes, not surprised at all. Well, she was a little surprised. It's not normal for her friends to do anything for her birthday, especially someone as notoriously lazy as Knuckles. She tested the pancakes against the table, they broke apart into fragments for every thud.
"Huh," Knuckles shrugged.
Suddenly, a burst of wind filled the room as Sonic started running all around the house. He was lifting pillows, removing paintings, and eating a chili dog all at the same time.
Sonic stopped a quick moment to scratch his head. "Don't worry Amy!"
"Great," she thought.
"We definitely have a present for you, I just, uh, currently do not know it's location." Sonic started banging up the walls and putting his ears up to it, apparently trying to "hear" the present.
"I'm awake!" Tails most definitely exclaimed through the walls.
Sonic jumped backwards and grabbed his ears, "That was definitely not it."
Tails emerged from the hallway, diving into the living room. "Sonic, where's the cake?"
Sonic picked himself up off the ground and said, "Knuckles brought it." As he pointed to the pancakes. He then asked, "Tails, the real question is, where is Amy's present?"
"I don't know" Tails said sharpening his gun. "I think it died."
"Tails," Sonic sounded disappointed, "It wasn't alive in the first place!"
"Oh, well, I still don't know."
Amy swept the pancake bits away with her foot, "Well whatever it was, I probably didn't want it. Anything else you guys want to do?" She could not see anything good coming from whatever Sonic and Tails were talking about, so might as well move one.
"No Amy, I swear, this is the best thing we have ever gotten you." Sonic said continuing his scavenger hunt across the house. "It was a weird thing that was supposed to help you make friends. But like, in a super artificial way." Sonic was looking through his fridge. "It's like a drink thing."
"That sounds terrible," Amy said.
"I bought it off the deep web!" Tails said proudly.
"Oh okay, that makes me feel way better!" Amy said sarcastically.
"I didn't know this is what they were getting," Knuckles said, throwing out the old pancakes, "I just chipped in. Definitely poor judgement on my part. Actually, on all parts."
"Well at least you guys tried," Amy flopped on the couch. "It's more than I thought you would do." She flipped open her phone. There was a message.
It was from Vector. It said that he had found a bottle saying "For: Amy" written on it. Another message appeared, asking what that stuff was, and a third saying how wack it tastes. "That idiot! Why would he drink a random bottle that is labelled for me?"
"He was thirsty, duh" said galaxy brain Tails.
"Shut up idiot. Vector apparently has the 'present' and drank some of it. What should we do?" Amy asked.
"Let's go get it back and make him reimburse us!" Sonic declared. "Stuff wasn't cheap."
"Okay I like money!" Tails agreed.
"Yeah why not?" Knuckles and Amy said in unison. The same response as always.
Even though Amy didn't get her present, she was glad that something was happening on her birthday, and glad that someone else tried to potion, because she sure as heck wouldn't have.
They left Sonic's house to look for Vector and what was going on with him. Was the potion killing him? Did he have new best friends? Those were the thoughts in Amy's head, those, and what made Sonic and Tails think she wanted this potion? Things she would soon find out.
