-Paria-
-Author's Note-
It has been nine years since I posted the story Outcast and I was astounded by the positive reviews I received for it. The idea for the story became many years before and began life as little more than doodles and small paragraphs scribbled into notepads and sketchbooks. As an author and artist, my mind wanders a lot, but this story is one of those stories that always seems to linger at the back of my mind. Even now, nine years later, I cling to the themes and ideas of the story. Perhaps it is because of the seriousness of the topics and how I was able to write them with some levity to soothe the blow. Either way I find myself drawn back to the story line time and time again.
Nine years has changed me in many ways. Just like everyone else I have matured, my knowledge has grown and so has my understanding of the world. I still hold myself to the same ideals, but my vision of the world has grown to embrace differences and equality. As a result, my writing has changed, after all, the more we write the more our skill evolves. And so, when my mind returned to this story time and time again with new, refreshing ideas, I believed it was time to rewrite it. Not just to show off my writing and understanding of the world but to give this story a new lease on life.
I spent a long time thinking, coming up with new versions and ideas about the Outcast story line and how things have come to be. I researched more of Mars and Space, of Time and Weather and it has changed my whole perspective of the Outcast story line. So, I kind of want to give some of my ideas away here but I am going to restrain myself and reveal it part by part as the story unfolds. What I will say is I have had serious thoughts about race, culture and beliefs in reference to stories like this and I have come up with some more in-depth ideas and thoughts. I really hope these ideas are interesting and enjoyable and well thought out, but I will leave that up to you, my readers to decide.
What helped me find the inspiration to rewrite this story with a new edge, were the reviewers. Just receiving such wonderful comments inspired me to keep writing, so I wanted to share some here:
Spades24: Truly incredibly stunning - I do love the way you get under the skin of the mice when you write your stories
One of the things I have come to realise is that research is important. As I write I try to reference as much as I can online and in books. I want the situations I write about to be believable so my readers can immerse themselves in my story. When I get reviews like this I am immediately rewarded, all that effort was worth it.
Guest: Literally, this story, and others like it have inspired me to write fan fiction again
This was by far one of the most rewarding reviews, that I inspired someone else to return to writing is an achievement in and of itself. I never was able to respond to this particular comment but I hope whoever wrote this sees this now so I can wish them all the luck in the world and thank them for such an awesome review.
B.C. Crossing: "She knew she would have wet dreams of these three for the rest of her life." Best sentence EVER! I believe that line sums up the show in a nutshell (or at least for us fangirls). *wink*
Glad to be of service, my fellow fangirl!
B.C. Crossing: *snorts* That was AMAZING! All those lovely pranks. *sighs* You have a devilish mind. I LOVE IT! That beginning was great and then BAM! you gave us a complete 180 with the chapter's atmosphere and mood for the characters. Nice twist!
Once again, thank you for the review and I hope I do this version of this story as much justice as the original.
For my returning readers and reviewers, I hope this story is as enjoyable as the original. However, I am making some changes so this is going to be a story all on its own, so for any new readers, you do not need to read the original story, Outcast, to understand the theme, although you are quite welcome to take a look!
So before I begin, I want to say a few more things. Disclaimers, mostly. Firstly, I do not own the Biker Mice, although I wish I did (who wouldn't?!). Secondly, as implied by the reviews and explanation above, this story is heavily influenced by racial and implications or religious ideals. Please note that everything within the story is fictional but the story does deal with these serious topics. Thirdly, there will be intimacy and perhaps sexuality will be addressed and hinted at in later chapters. Finally, but certainly not least, is the fact that this story also addresses the seriousness of war. Since the Martians are at war with the Plutarkians there will be mentions of and somewhat explicit scenes or battlefields, battles and torture. I will write a minor disclaimer on each chapter to forewarn my readers of some of the heavier content. I will also be writing a more mature realistic version, while I will try to keep the humour the bros are known for and some comedy to alleviate the heaviness of the story, I wanted to add some more realism and emotion into my work. Please let me know how I do!
So, without further ado, may I introduce you to the rewrite of 'Outcast', Paria.
Additional note: The picture that inspires the first chapter of this story is a 'sleeping hazel dormouse', search it up and squeal at the cuteness overload!
