Shizuka was a quiet girl.

A wallflower.

The one who wasn't noticed in the back of the class in the academy.

She was an average student, getting around 75% to 85% on most of the subjects taught in the academy. Her only real strong-suits were medical jutsu and manipulation of thrown weapons, such as shuriken or senbon.

While, even among ninja, there was an average look and set of traits depending on the hidden village, they all had slight variations. Her long black hair had small amounts of dark purple here and there, hair covering her right eye, leaving her other plain black eye untouched. Like most people in Kirigakure, she also had very pale skin due to lack of sunlight.

Shizuka stood at 5'2, the shinobi shoes not helping her height in the slightest. She wore a large, over-sized pale blue waterproof hoodie that reached down to the middle of her thighs. Beneath the hoodie, she wore a simple large black long-sleeved shirt, the sleeves ending just beyond her fingertips. Sticking to simplicity, she wore a pair of light tan shorts reaching far below her knees and the standard shinobi shoes, just modified to cover the toes and heel.

All in all, she was average.

Despite the current blood-line purge going through Kirigakure, the Mizukage himself allowed Shizuka to stay alive. Her kekkei genkai could potentially save the lives of many comrades in battle. Her clan, before most of them were killed, supplied the bulk of medic ninja to Kirigakure.

After all, when the kekkei genkai was fully matured, the user could practically make any one chosen person nigh immortal with extreme regenerative abilities. This meant that the person could have their head chopped off, but they'd regrow it and be alive and well.

So far, very few people knew about Shizuka's kekkei genkai, but it was better that way. The Mizukage said that he couldn't have chaos among his ranks of ninja.

Groaning silently, Shizuka snapped her attention back to the lesson the sensei was teaching. There was only a couple of days left before the graduation test. Sighing, Shizuka looked up to the bright side. The class no-longer had to kill each other just to pass and become Genin. Not after the fiasco from the year before. A kid had slaughtered 100 students from the academy last year, so the Mizukage stopped having the graduating classes kill each other since then.

The sensei dismissed the class, which left Shizuka the ability to strategize on how to pass.

She had learned that the new requirement to pass was to spar against the sensei and last for 5 minutes or more, the longer you lasted, the higher your grade. The twist was that the sensei was allowed to try and kill you until you hit the 5 minute mark.

Glancing at sensei, who was reading a book at his desk, Shizuka did a quick analysis.

Sensei was tall and lean, but he preferred using Taijutsu at a range with those long arms of his. It was at times like this that Shizuka wished she wasn't shorter than everybody else.

Her Taijutsu was almost non-existent, just barely enough to get a passing grade, her Ninjutsu and Genjutsu however… were both completely average. Not bad, but not good either. Water clone, Replacement technique, Transformation technique, and transforming other object's appearance.

Quickly, Shizuka laid out her weapons pouch on the table in-front of her, since she hadn't left when the sensei dismissed the class and started rummaging through it to see what was there. A decent amount of shuriken, a few senbon, some metal wires (painted to remove the shine), four kunai, and an exploding tag.

Shizuka also knew how to constantly heal herself, although the technique was still a little slow since she hadn't gotten it down yet, it would have to do.

Briefly, she wondered that if she passed, if her home-life would improve. Or if she could ever figure out a way to undo the damage.

Her home-life was… complicated.

When Shizuka was brought into the world, not only was it made known that she would have the kekkei genkai of her (now mostly dead) clan, but it was also discovered that she had serious damage done to her vocal cords. This damage made it hurt, very much so, whenever Shizuka tried to speak for longer than 5 seconds or make loud noises.

Due to this, her adoptive father often hit her in his drunken haze, blaming his problems on Shizuka's issue.

Shizuka shook her head and brought herself back to the now and cleaned up the small mess she made. Attaching the weapons pouch back to her shorts, Shizuka stood and exited the class, which went seemingly unnoticed by the sensei.

.-._.-._.-._.-._.-.

One week had passed since Shizuka had come up with her strategy to pass, and now was the time to use it.

The sensei stood across from Shizuka on the water, expression indifferent. Shizuka's fellow students watched from the viewing areas above, which only made Shizuka even more self-conscious of herself.

"Begin… now."

Sensei's voice was low and stern, quiet even, contradicting the way he suddenly leapt forwards. Shizuka backed away and threw three shuriken, each of which were either side-stepped or deflected with a kunai.

Sensei appeared right in-front of Shizuka, slashing horizontally with his kunai. Shizuka leaned backwards by a full 90 degrees, completely dodging the kunai. Quickly, she had to think – her chakra wouldn't let her stay standing for long on this water.

Backpedaling and standing up straight once more, Shizuka barely dodged a kick from Sensei and yet another slash from his kunai.

Quickly, Shizuka pulled out the explosive tag, attached it to a kunai, and chucked it at Sensei before detonating it. Using the brief distraction, Shizuka jumped backwards to gain some space. What she hadn't accounted for was the speed of Sensei. The man appeared behind her suddenly and kicked her in the back, sending her flying towards the water.

Before she hit the water, Shizuka turned and threw another kunai at Sensei, who dodged it and let it hit the wall behind him. Quickly, Shizuka jumped back a little bit to dodge an axe kick from Sensei and threw three shuriken at Sensei. Or so it seemed.

This process kept up for a full minute, dodging attacks, jumping away, and then retaliating by throwing bladed weapons.

Two minutes had passed since the test began, but Shizuka already had her trap set up.

Each of the weapons she had thrown had wires attached. Suddenly, Shizuka twisted her fingers, revealing wires woven around her fingers, each wire leading to a different weapon, and she seemingly stepped onto the air.

What she had done, instead however, was create both an offensive defense and a platform for her to stand on while she recovered chakra. Having small amounts of chakra required the user to come up with new and creative ways to last in battle.

Her fellow classmates above waited in a tense silence, finally seeing what the wallflower had set up.

Sensei smirked.

"Don't get me wrong, while I did notice what you were doing, I'm rather impressed that an academy student could do this."

The only thing that kept her alive next were her instincts, which screamed at her to jump. And jump she did, barely dodging a slash from Sensei's kunai.

Standing on a new wire, Shizuka shifted them to bind Sensei, who kept ducking, dodging, weaving, and jumping around each wire. Clearly, he had figured out that the wires were poisoned. The poison could knock out an elephant for a week straight with ease. Yes, it was a bit overkill against a human, but Shizuka knew that in the shinobi world, overkill was better than underkill, so it was best just to make sure.

And so, this is how the remainder of the time went. Shizuka had kept Sensei busy trying to dodge each wire long enough that she passed by default when the buzz of the timer rang out throughout the room.

"Well, it seems you pass… you should seriously work on your stamina, you look like you're about to fall over." Sensei's words sent a wave of reassurance through Shizuka, but he was right.

She'd have to work on her stamina and chakra reserves.

.-._.-._.-._.-.

Shizuka stood before the Mizukage, Yagura. Right after Sensei had let her pass, Shizuka went straight to see the Mizukage. Father wouldn't be happy with it, but orders were orders.

It briefly struck her that Yagura looked to be around her age himself, and yet he was the Mizukage.

"Congratulations on passing. However, just because I have congratulated you, do not think that I will be 'nice' to you."

Yagura sighed.

"We're both demons. It's just that you are more of a demon than I am… I wasn't born this way. You, however, were born with your kekkei genkai. As a demon, you are my tool to use as I see fit. You live and die by my command." His voice was cold and harsh, making Shizuka flinch.

After a pause, "You will be placed on a team with two other Genin and a Jounin. I will be keeping a close eye on you, demon. I will be watching you as you progress and grow to make sure you don't step out of line. If you step out of line, however… I'll kill you, personally."

Shizuka nodded, her emotions numbed. If she died, it's be a ticket out of hell, she figured. Not that she'd ever tell Yagura.

She walked home as soon as Yagura dismissed her, breaking into a sprint when she got out of the Mizukage Tower. Quickly, the buildings surrounding her as she dashed by started to show early signs of entering the slums. The buildings were made of concrete, the grey easy on the eyes. Various windows in several different buildings were shattered, revealing either empty rooms inside or people yelling at each other.

Quickly, Shizuka took a sharp turn towards one of the buildings and sprinted up the concrete stairs and up to her… home. The only window visible was blocked by wooden boards, barely covering the shattered window. The door was beaten down, showing signs of exposure to the elements.

Silently, Shizuka opened the door and walked in, quickly noting Father, who was passed out in his wooden chair. Bottles of alcohol scattered around him, some tipped over, one in his grasp as he slept. Shizuka quietly moved around the area and into the narrow hallway all the way to her room, which was the door furthest into the apartment.

"Hey!"

The sudden shout startled Shizuka, making her flinch and turn around quickly. She saw her father, a slightly over-weight drunk standing at 5'9, get up and stumble towards her.

"Where the fuck were you?" He slurred as he came to a halt 3 feet away from Shizuka.

Shizuka forced herself to speak. "M-Mizukage requested…" Shizuka coughed but quickly continued, "requested that I go to h-him when I pass." Her throat burned as she replied in her shaky and unused voice.

Father glared.

"You little shit!" Suddenly, he launched himself forwards, punching Shizuka square in the jaw and knocking her to the ground. Quickly, Shizuka pulled her knees up to her chest and covered her head with her arms, waiting to get hit again. She forgot that her sides were vulnerable when she got a kick to the side, Father's shin hitting her ribs.

The kicked sent Shizuka sprawling, gasping for air as she weakly pushed off the ground, her arms shaking violently. Then another kick to the ribs dropped her back to the ground, face down, knocking the little air she had gathered out of her yet again.

Father turned around and stumbled away back to his chair, cursing the entire way. Shakily, Shizuka pushed up off the ground and used the wall to support her as she walked slowly to her room, opening and closing the door behind her as she entered.

The room was small and cramped. Two worn-out blankets and a pillow with a tear in it lay in the corner of the room. Notebooks and drawing pads littered the room on the other side, showing that Father had been in here again trashing the room. Sighing, Shizuka got down on her knees and started to re-arrange the notebooks and drawing pads.

Standing back up, her right arm held across her ribs, Shizuka looked out the broken window. The same old mist and rain, the same old worn-down buildings, the same situation of two people arguing below… nothing would ever change.

.-._.-._.-.

Shizuka stood across from a man and two boys. The man was to be her Jounin sensei and the two boys were part of the team. They all had gathered in a misty clearing at some ungodly hour in the morning.

The man had short spiky black hair, only slightly combed. Instead of showing his face, he wore a plain white oval mask with the Kirigakure symbol etched onto the forehead area. The Jounin wore a pale purple vest over a long-sleeved black shirt. He wore black gloves with metal plates over the back of his hands. Looking lower, he wore standard black ANBU pants and shinobi sandals. Like most Kirigakure shinobi, the man had a sheathed sword strapped to his back. All in all, he looked like the average Kiri ANBU.

He spoke up, his voice slightly higher than what one might expect.

"Hello, kiddies. As of today, you three will be my students. I have 6 weeks to turn you into Chuunin level ninja, so I expect you three to work your hardest to learn, improve, and grow in strength. Mizukage-sama has chosen me because I can teach all three of you the basics of your fields: Brute strength, Recon, and Support. Granted, I am nicer than most of our Jounin, I will not let you guys slack off! Any questions?"

The man seemed… happy, energetic, and eccentric all at the same time. Shizuka still decided that she wouldn't let her guard down around him anyways. He'd turn on her and backstab her if she did, she just knew it.

One of the two boys, who looked like identical twins, raised his hand.

"What do we call you?"

The Jounin chuckled and rubbed the chin area of his mask thoughtfully. "You shall call me… one minute, let me think…"

He smacked his fist into his palm right when a lightbulb seemingly appeared above his head. "You shall call me Sensei!"

The two boys deadpanned. "I… I meant your name…"

The Jounin shook his head.

"If you guys make it to Chuunin, I'll tell you my name. A goal to work for, ne? Anyways, I figure it's best that we all introduce each other. Don't want any hostility on the team now, would we? Hm…" The Jounin suddenly pointed at the boy farthest away from Shizuka. "You first!"

The boy stood up straight and did a mock salute.

"Yes sir! I'm Hiro and this-" The boy pulled the other boy into a headlock, "This is my twin, Nishio!"

Nishio struggled to get out of the headlock and finally did so, grinning.

"We like to train a lot and hang out at the sushi shop!" Both the boys said the exact thing at the exact same time, somehow.

Sensei gave them an exaggerated thumbs up. "NICE! Now then, why don't you introduce yourself, Miss Quiet?" He pointed at Shizuka, waiting for an answer.

Shizuka decided it was best to just answer the question instead of making him angry. "I-I'm Shizuka." After she said this, she held up her hand to stop Sensei from saying anything while she rubbed her throat with the other.

"Talking hurts." She whispered. Whispering was more manageable. Sensei nodded while the twins stared at Shizuka. "I-I like reading a-and being left alone."

Sensei's shoulders sagged. "Oh, come on, there's got to be something else too! Come on, what else do you like?"

Shizuka rubbed her shoulders and upper-arms to calm herself. "M-Making people happy…"

Her voice was barely even there, making the whisper hard to hear. But Sensei heard it. He nodded, seemingly satisfied. Suddenly, he clapped his hands together, startling Shizuka and making her flinch. If he noticed, he didn't let on.

"Good, good! Now, just before we get to the actual training, I want to tell you guys something really quick. We will be meeting here, every day, at 6 in the morning. Then we will spend the day training until about, oh give or take, 7 in the evening." Just as he was about to continue, he suddenly slapped himself in the face. "I almost forgot! I need to test your affinities… you know, important for training and all that."

As Sensei pulled out some paper from his pockets, Shizuka noticed the twins getting more and more excited, talking to each other so fast that it sounded like gibberish. Sensei snapped his fingers to get their attention and handed a small square of paper to both of them and then to Shizuka.

"What I want you to do is channel your chakra into that."

Shizuka observed the twins hurrying to do so. Suddenly, both of their slips of paper brunt to a crisp before falling apart into ashes. Sensei nodded and then motioned for Shizuka to do the same.

Doing so, her paper suddenly felt like it would fall apart at any second. The paper became damp, water dripping off the corners as the paper slowly tore itself in half from the weight. Shizuka suddenly felt a sense of dread fill her as Sensei stared at her intently.

"Well, it looks like you two have fire while Shizuka has water… okay, I can deal with this!" The man happily chirped, catching Shizuka off guard.

Suddenly, bursts of smoke went off on either side of Sensei. When the smoke dissipated, it revealed two clones, both of them holding out one of their arms and giving the team a thumbs up.

"Got this jutsu from a guy who knew a guy from Konoha. Anyways, let's get to it, shall we?" The two clones motioned for the twins to follow them to the other side of the clearing, leaving Shizuka with the original.

She gulped nervously.

"Mizukage-sama told me about it." Suddenly, his voice became heavy and serious. Dread filled Shizuka. "Despite how most people here will react to it, I see you as completely human. You were just blessed with the genetic draw to get a nifty bloodline. Don't tell anybody I said that." The man suddenly put a finger to his mouth in a shushing gesture.

"He also told me that you're an aspiring medic ninja. I don't know much about it, but I know enough to teach you the basics! So really quick, tell me, what can you do? Take your time."

Shizuka noticed that she was trembling but tried to calm herself down. "I-I can do basic first aid a-and I'm learning…" She paused, rubbing her throat again. "The mystical palm jutsu."

Sensei nodded. Quickly, he pulled something else out of his pocket and held it up. From where Shizuka stood, it looked like… a card? She couldn't quite tell.

"Mhm… I see…" Sensei sat down on the ground, pulling out a notepad and pen from his pocket yet again. Shizuka briefly wondered what else was in his pockets if he kept all that in there. Sensei set to furiously writing something on the little notepad, looking over at the card again every now and then and then back to the notepad to cross something out and start writing again.

After a few minutes, he put the pen down and studied over the small notepad. Then he checked the card one last time and put away the notepad.

Suddenly, he stood up, holding the card in one hand while pumping his fist into the air.

"I got it!" Sensei said in an enthusiastic voice.

"W-What do you mean?" Shizuka asked hesitantly.

Sensei chuckled and handed the card to Shizuka. To say that is surprised her was an understatement. She saw an overview of her skills on it, strengths and weaknesses, and so on.

"Your strength and speed are quite low for the average newbie Genin, as is your stamina and chakra levels. But, you see, your chakra control, intelligence, and hand-seals are above average. Therefore, we will be working on your speed, stamina, chakra control, and…"

Sensei face-palmed himself, seemingly having forgotten what he was going to say. "Damn it I forgot! One sec I can remember just give me a moment… I remember now! We're also going to work on your chakra reserves!"

He put away the card and made a so-so motion with his hands.

"You're going to be a medic ninja, so we'll work on the obvious things there, like chakra control, stamina, and chakra reserves. But, you see, you are a battle medic, to be used out in the field. So, what are you going to do if you get separated from your team with an enemy trying to kill you?" Sensei waited for an answer.

Hearing no answer, he continued. "We need to work on your speed! That way, if they catch you, you can get away more easily and back to your team. Plus, as a battle medic, you play a heavy support role, which means you need to learn some defensive jutsu and a couple of offensive ones. THANKFULLY!" He shouted, pumping his fist into the air again.

"I know some of those! Now then, let me just…" Sensei pulled out a small bag from behind him that Shizuka could've sworn wasn't there a moment ago. Sensei opened it and looked through it, moving items that Shizuka couldn't see around. After a moment, Sensei stood up holding some training weights.

"Found them! I knew I had these somewhere. Thought I lost them somewhere at home, but nope, they were in my bag… Anyways! Come here for a moment and sit down."

Shizuka did so, hesitantly. She sat down 2 feet away from Sensei with her knees under her, kneeling. Suddenly, Sensei grabbed her legs and pulled forwards while holding the training weight.

Fear and panic overrode Shizuka as she flinched and kicked, trying to back up as fast as possible, starting to hyperventilate. Sensei put down the training weight and held both arms in the air, palms outwards so Shizuka could see.

"Hey, hey, calm down. I just need to have you put these on. Nothing bad, ok?" Sensei said, his voice calming. Shizuka stared at him, still breathing heavily and rapidly. "I'm not going to hurt you – I'm just going to put these training weights on you – nothing else, I promise."

Shizuka stayed still as Sensei inched forwards, slowly picking up the training weights and moving towards Shizuka in a non-threatening way. Carefully, he pulled on Shizuka's legs so that her shins were level with the ground. Gently, Sensei put the training weights on her shins and wrapped some bandages around them to keep them in place.

Slowly, and carefully, he wiped away a tear on Shizuka's face that she hadn't noticed before he stood up. Sensei backed away slowly, still trying to not seem threatening.

Then Shizuka became aware of a wet substance on her face and brought up her shaking hand to wipe it away. She pulled away her hand and noticed that it was wet. She had been crying without realizing it.

"I told you I wouldn't hurt you, didn't I?" Sensei said, his voice calm. Shizuka stared at him, her breathing slowly going back to normal. "Granted, I should've told you what I was going to do first, but I'm not going to hurt you. You are my student, bloodline or not. As such, I will care for and nurture you and your teammates. It is my job to make you three grow into a team and overcome trials."

Shizuka slowly nodded, still not trusting the Jounin. She felt her heart still pounding from the rush of fear from before.

Calmly, Sensei stretched out his arm towards Shizuka, offering his hand to help pull her up. Shizuka reached up slowly. She flinched but grabbed Sensei's hand anyways. Then Sensei gently pulled her up off the ground.

"Sorry about that. This is my first time being a Sensei, so I don't know that much about what to do, but I will try. Anyways… be careful. Those weights are heavy. When you take them off next, you will notice that you're faster. But you see, you'll also have to learn how to take sharp turns with the increased momentum and how to process information faster with the faster you get." Sensei rubbed the back of his head sheepishly.

"You see, there is something that most people often overlook. Yes, you can be faster, much faster, but you might not be agile enough or able to process information fast enough. Agility is more than just speed. It requires you to be able to make sharp turns and how to deal with the increased momentum that speed gives you. Another thing is learning how to process info faster."

Suddenly, Sensei vanished and appeared 50 feet away before vanishing again, only to re-appear 3 feet away from Shizuka, startling her.

"Sorry about that. But anyways, you saw how fast I moved?" Sensei waited for a response. Shizuka slowly nodded. "Good. But you see, the trick to moving at that speed is being able to stop suddenly and processing where you are fast enough. The faster you get, the more agile you have to be, and you'll have to process info even faster. You can master speed, but if you don't master agility or information processing, then that speed is useless. You'll mentally lag and that can get you killed." Sensei's explanation made sense.

"But for now, we'll just work on your chakra control. After all, you still need to learn and master the basics. What makes a good shinobi is not their strength, not their speed, not their numerous jutsu. What makes a good shinobi is mastery and complete control over the basics and planning. Think about it. One shinobi may be able to spit out literal fireballs, but that's no good against a Shurikenjutsu master, who can make their shuriken change direction mid-flight to avoid the fireball and hit the caster. Make sense?"

Shizuka nodded. Knowledge and mastery over the basics could save your life more than one might think by defeating the enemy. For example, if somebody had mastered the substitution jutsu, they could endlessly dodge and avoid attacks from an enemy while baiting them into a trap.

"Good, good. Now, what I want you to do is walk over to that tree over there. I'm going to teach you how to climb the tree without your hands." Sensei pointed to a tree close to the edge of the clearing, a tall, thick and sturdy tree.

Shizuka tried walking towards it but found that she could barely move her legs with the increased weight. Beginning to panic, Shizuka frantically tried to move but fell over instead having not been able to move her feet to stabilize herself.

Sensei helped her up gently.

"Hey now, don't panic. It just takes some getting used to." He tried to calm her down and reassure her, but his voice sounded panicky itself.

"I-I can't move!" Shizuka started to have a mental breakdown. What if Sensei hit her because she couldn't move? Would he be like her other Sensei from the academy? Or would he just kill her because she couldn't move?

White-hot pain was felt around her throat when she screeched, her voice cracked, showing signs of little to no use over the years.

Sensei wiped away the tears from her face and grabbed both of her shoulders to get her attention.

"Calm down. This is normal – most people can't move very much when they put on training weights. Just give it a few weeks and you'll be mostly back to normal, no big deal. Please don't cry." Sensei said calmly, trying to get through to her. Shizuka hiccupped but nodded slowly, rubbing her throat to ease the pain.

After a moment, Sensei helped her stand back up.

"Can you stand?" Shizuka nodded, rubbing her face with her sleeve of her hoodie to get rid of the tears.

"Alright… I guess we'll hold off on chakra control until you can walk around with those more easily. For now, just try to walk around. We can talk in the meantime. Does that sound ok?" Shizuka nodded again.

She kept trying to walk around, as per Sensei's request. She tried to march with large steps, tried to bring her knees up high. All she could really do was shuffle forwards slowly with her feet barely off the ground while Sensei held onto her shoulders to make sure she didn't fall again.

"While we do this, let's chat a little bit. What's your home life like?" Sensei asked quietly, gently.

Shizuka froze, alarming Sensei right away. "F-Father gets angry a-a lot… I try t-to stay in my room s-so I don't bother him…" With that, Shizuka started to try and walk again.

Sensei watched her carefully.

Her flinching when getting close to him, her reaction to physical touch, and her reaction when she fell from being unable to move around in the training weights… it all made sense now. There was a high possibility that her "Father" took out his anger on her and beat her. The Jounin sighed to himself and knew he'd have to talk to Mizukage-sama about this and maybe pay a visit to Shizuka's so-called "Father".

He decided to change the topic.

"Well then… is there anything you like? What do you enjoy doing?" Sensei asked, making sure to keep his voice quiet and calm. He had to be as non-threatening as possible if he was going to get anywhere in this kind of situation.

"I-I like listening to music… a-and drawing. I-It helps me forget…"

Shizuka said, voice cracking again.

Sensei sighed. He'd definitely have to talk to Mizukage-sama about this.

.-._.-._.-._.-.

Sensei stood in the Mizukage's office looking at the young man sitting in the large chair. Yagura sighed, tapping the arm of his chair.

"Report."

Sensei stiffened and saluted before answering.

"The team shows promise, Yagura-sama. The twins seem like they are suited for heavy close range to medium range combat and have very good teamwork." His voice was hardened, like the kind a soldier might have when talking to a general.

Yagura glared. "Alright, what about the demon?"

Sensei briefly glared under his mask before getting his emotions back under control. "Shizuka will take time. With time, she can become a very talented kunoichi, but it'll take some work and…"

Standing up and grabbing his large hook/staff hybrid weapon, Yagura motioned for Sensei to continue.

"If there are problems with Shizuka's personal life, such as poor treatment from family, that will hinder her progress. May I ask something?"

"You may."

Sensei stopped himself, made sure his emotions were under control, and then asked his question. "Does Shizuka have an abusive father?"

Yagura nodded, twirling around the large staff. "What about him?"

"I request that he be either removed from the situation or that I take Shizuka in. The man's abusiveness will hinder Shizuka's growth and will stunt her potential. As her sensei, it is my job to make sure that my students achieve their maximum potential."

Sensei would admit, he was a very emotional man. A bit young to be a Jounin sensei, but he knew he was the only Jounin who wouldn't treat Shizuka as a demon. Thus, he was given the job. He couldn't help it if he got attached to his students. To him, it was his job to protect them until they could do it for themselves.

Yagura looked at Sensei thoughtfully.

"You may do both. I have no use for a useless creature doing nothing but hindering the growth of my… shinobi. However, you will be fully responsible for your student, so just keep that in mind. Now then, get out if there's nothing else to report." Yagura sat back down in the large black leather chair, tapping his desk impatiently.

"I'll take my leave now, sir."

With that, Sensei left to go take care of some business.

Author's Note section:

You know… usually, in any given situation, there will be that one person who doesn't care about the "popular opinion" and do things the way they see fit. That's how Shizuka's Sensei is supposed to be.

Plus, I don't want to keep writing depressing things. Sensei is supposed to be there to begin to show Shizuka the positive side of things.

As usual, if you have any questions, just leave a review or send me a DM and I will do my best to answer as fast as I can.
