Let me tell you. I was in a writers block for a long time. And when I finally got over it, I broke my finger. Once I got my brace I started typing and here we are. :)

Enjoy!
The trio were in a tense silence. An argument between the two elder Winchesters had sparked a silence in Alec that was hard to shake. It had been a month since Sam had joined him and Dean, and so far it was a month full of walking on eggshells around the younger Winchester.
While Alec was perfectly fine with Sam, the guy just didn't like him. He was baffled, he was a joy to be around! But as Dean seemingly enjoyed the X5's presence, Sam just couldn't stand it.
In hindsight, he can take a guess on why he is so disliked.
Dean.
Although it's blatantly obvious to everyone but said Winchester, Dean adored Sam. Alec was only a replacement for what he thought he lost. And when he puts it that way…
Anyways, the tension built up to a point where Alec couldn't stand being in the room, as Sam was already giving him enough dirty looks as it is.
The hunt Dean found was a Wendigo. And apparently it was news to Sam that Alec had never encountered one. Actually, it was news that he only started hunting very recently. It was so shocking to the Winchester that his mouth flopped open and shut for almost fifteen seconds. Then that shock turned into outraged anger.
"Are you kidding me?" Sam's eyes flickered between anger and astonishment. He turned to Dean, " You're letting him have your back when he's a rookie?"
Dean sighed. Alec sighed. Sam growled.
"I-"
"Save it, kid." Sam snapped.
Alec furrowed his eyebrows, "What's your problem?"
"My problem?" Sam narrowed his eyes, "My problem, is that my brother chose some random duplicate" Alec flinched, he'd never heard that one before, "off the street, with no idea of who or what it is" he flinched at that one too, "and expects them to join him."
Dean narrowed his eyes as well, into a patented Winchester protective glare, "Sam, shut it. There's no use bringing it up. And there damn well is no reason to start throwing around insults. The kid saved my life, and-"
"I suppose he was expecting something in return? Hey, where're you going?"
Alec took that chance to walk towards the door. A hand on his shoulder stopped him, and a voice murmured in his ear, "Remember what we said about walking out on us, kid?"
The transgenic closed his eyes, counted to ten, and slumped his shoulders. He allowed himself to be guided further into the room and onto the bed. Sam's frown deepened.
"We're going on this hunt, Sam. I trust him, and so should you."
And so they set off.

After everything was packed, Sam and Alec were left alone as Dean went to a mart to grab some food before they went off. The silence was awkward.
Then Sam broke it.
"You've been hunting for months."
"Yes."
"With my brother."
"Yep."
"With no training."
"Well-"
"I don't mean your little boot camp."
"Boot camp?"
"I mean like you haven't researched any of the monsters that are around?"
Alec rolled his eyes, "Look, I don't understand why you hate me so much. Well, a little, but," He interrupted what the X5 was sure to be a long boring speech, "John had me researching so much that I was spitting facts in my sleep. You don't need to worry."
There was a short pause.
"What happened to that place anyways?" Sam asked curiously.
Alec shrugged, "They should all be gone."
And then Dean joined them.

As the hunt progressed, things seemed to go wrong at every corner. Alec got face to face with the Wendigo. Other than a minor sprain and a majorly bruised ego, he came out okay. Rolling his eyes at Sam's smirk and gently shrugging off Dean's probing hands.
"I'm alright, I just landed wrong." When Dean's worried look continued, he replied, "I've survived worse."
The elder Winchester's face ran through a list of emotions, then settled on a frown. Sam looked back and forth between the two, confused.
Shrugging, Sam nudged his older brother and murmured, "Let's get a move on." He roved his eyes over Alec, checking for further injury, and turned to go.

Everything was going as well as it could after that until they found the cave that the Wendigo was residing in. Sam was out cold within the first five minutes, as the monster attacked, and Dean followed shortly. Figuring it was better to be able to save them rather than be eaten, Alec dove for a hiding spot and stayed out of sight.

"Dean?" Sam gritted out between clenched teeth.
"Yes, Sammy?" Dean grunted.
"Where's your shadow?" Feeling the glare from his older brother, Sam amended, "Alec."
Closing his eyes, Dean could sense no danger from whatever freaky bond they had going on. "I'm gonna say he's coming up with a plan to save our asses."
Sam wisely didn't say anything.

Alec closed his eyes, steeling himself against the pain that was flowing through Dean's body. He was waiting outside of the entrance to where the brothers were, hopeful that the Wendigo would leave for just a moment.
He got his wish. However, he was not happy with the way it was executed. A loud, piercing noise swept through his mind, bringing along a sharp pain that resonated throughout his head. The Wendigo clutched its ears for a moment and sprinted off in search of the noise.
Staggering into the room, Sam and Dean, completely unaffected by whatever was wreaking havoc in his head, snapped their eyes up to meet his.
Working through the agony in his mind was as easy as it was when he was a kid. He remembered the situations they would put him in, their noise maker that was set to a certain frequency that-
That only genetically superior beings (including deranged nonhuman cannibals apparently) could hear.
Manticore was gone.. right?
That thought panicked him more than he could imagine.
His time frame to save the brothers was running out. Alec pushed the pain and panic to the very back of his mind and grabbed a knife out of his boot. He looked to Dean, and got to work on Sam's hands. His hands, shaking like a leaf, were getting increasingly harder to get control of. He could practically feel Sam's annoyance and impatient thoughts that were aimed at him.
Yet his feelings of panic that he thought were gone came full force as he heard footsteps increase towards them, though this was one of the rare times that he wasn't able to tell if his hearing was acting up or if they really were that close. He closed his eyes, remembered that he was a soldier, dammit, and a little group of his former torturers shouldn't scare him as easily as it is. Steeling himself, he broke the bonds off of Sam and headed towards Dean.
After his little calming session, getting the restraints off of the older Winchester was much easier. But instead of Alec the almost-Winchester, there was a hardened soldier there.
X5-494 arrived. Just on time, too.
There was a shriek. The Wendigo attacked.
Ha. 'It shouldn't be too long.' I said. 'I've already started writing this in my head' I said. This isn't very edited and it may be a little bit of everywhere. But by the time this comes out, it'll be in better shape that it started out being.
Stay safe out there. 3
