The Apartment

~aaryathenotsowisegirl~

A golden-haired girl was curled up on a yellow, dusty, old couch and was scrolling through 'Hestia's Homey Apartments', trying to find the perfect apartment. She groaned and smacked her head on her ancient Dell computer; three hours had gone by and she had still hadn't found an apartment which suited her needs. Annabeth felt her eyelids flutter as she struggled to stay awake. She shook her head as she tried to stay awake. She needed to find an apartment and get out of the crappy situation she was in now; in debt and living in a trashy apartment that no one cared enough about. Unfortunately, Annabeth had woken up at 6:00 in the morning to go to a meeting with her manager at Books Away, a book store where Annabeth worked. She sighed and rubbed her eyes. If she could just close her eyes for one second….

Ping! Ping! Ping! Ping! Shocked out of her stupor, Annabeth quickly looked around, trying to get a hold of her bearings. Her gaze landed on her phone and realized where the bell-like sound was coming from. She snatched it up and scrolled through the notifications on her lock screen. Piper? She never called unless Annabeth was late- crap. What time was it? 10: 47. Annabeth sighed, relieved that she wasn't late. She had 13 minutes, she was fi- 13 minutes! Curly blonde locks flew up in the air as a gray-eyed girl flew about a cluttered living room, trying to get ready and trying to convince herself she had time for a shower. Succeeding, Annabeth climbed into the shower and climbed back out, her curls sopping wet. Opening her closet, she tossed on a gray NYU sweatshirt and some skinny jeans. She reapplied her lip gloss and grabbed her keys, phone, black converses, and an apple. Not bothering to put her shoes on. She hopped into her Toyota and started the ignition. She drove (honked) her way through the crowded New York streets and simultaneously called Piper.

"Hello?" A male voice answered the phone instead of the normal feminine chirpy voice Piper had. Annabeth double checked the caller ID and it said, Piper.

"Um, hi. Is Piper there?" Annabeth asked cautiously.

"May I ask who's asking?"

"It's Annabeth, I'm Piper's best friend."

"Oh hi! Sorry, I thought it was some weird person; Pipes has you saved in her contacts as 'Owl Stone Face' Anyway, Pipes told me to tell you that she would be 30 minutes late to your coffee date."

Annabeth slammed her head against her car horn, letting out a sound that made many drivers give her the birdie. She glared at all of them which effectively made them flinch and fear the scary blonde-haired lunatic.

"You alright over there?"

"Yeah. I'm just peachy."

After several assurances she was ok (no, she was not in a car crash, yes, she was not battling a rabid demon ghost), the male caller, who Annabeth still had yet to identify, finally hung up. Annabeth checked the time on her dashboard. 11:04. Great. 26 minutes to kill. Annabeth did the math. She was 2 minutes away from the coffee shop, it would take her 30 seconds to park, 5 minutes to order, and another 30 seconds to find a table (Annabeth was feared for her eyes). She would kill 8 minutes and 26 minus 8 was 18. Annabeth slammed her head on the dashboard. Yippee. 18 minutes to kill. Life was great.

After successfully ordering her Shaken Iced Cappuccino, Piper's Vanilla Cream Sweet Cold Brew, with only a few flirty remarks from the Barista, Annabeth went to find a seat facing the window. Sighing, she climbed on top of a stool and set her drinks and phone down. Shaking her hair from her face, Annabeth realized her hair was dry and started to braid it elaborately into a side braid, just to have something to do. She drummed her gray nails against the table and repeatedly checked the time. Her fourth time pulling her phone out of her pocket, she heard someone's voice call out her name.

"ANNIE!" Annabeth spun around in her seat, searching to find the source of the voice. Aha! Piper, in her full glory. "Hey!"

"Hi B.Q." Annabeth replied. B.Q was short for Beauty Queen, which an old high school friend of their's affectionately (not really) nicknamed her.

"So," Piper swung her legs over the stool next to Annabeth. "What's up? Thanks for the coffee by the way."

"You've been holding out on me Pipes.. Who was on the phone with me when I called you?" Annabeth teased.

Piper fidgeted. "Just a guy."

"Just a guy? Who also happened to be over in the morning? Who also happens to be on a nickname basis with you? Don't tell me-"

"How's apartment hunting going?"

"Ugh don't remind me. I can't find any suitable apartment and it's so annoying!"

"I may have found the perfect apartment for you. It's called Half-Blood Home." Piper pulled out a sleek MacBook and showed Annabeth the website. "It has a kitchen, living room, master bedroom, and a spare room. It's only $117 per month!" Annabeth's eyes popped out of her head. That was WAY lower than any of the other apartments in New York! There had to be some catch though. These deals are never for free.

"What's the catch."

"Always so straight to the point. Well…."

=====================================I LOVE BOOKS==========================

"I have to share the apartment! Piper, you know I hate sharing ANYTHING. I don't think this is-"

" It's a good deal! I grabbed it for you before anyone else could!"

"You WHAT! PIPER AMOUR MCLEAN." The glossy head with chocolate colored hair looked scared out of her wits.

"I, uh, may of, uh, signed the lease, for, um. You." Piper continued her quaking after she had spoken. She looked positively terrified. Annabeth took a deep breath and tried to calm herself.

"Ok, so you're telling me you signed an apartment without telling me, and it's for me! Pipes, you could go to jail!"

"I wouldn't go to jail if you don't tell. Plus, I signed the lease online and I didn't have to forge your signature or anything." Annabeth sighed and didn't say anything for a couple of minutes. "Are you mad?" Piper squeaked

"I can never stay mad at you Pipes. I just-ugh. Don't pull this stunt ever again. Kapish?"

"Yes, mom." That earned a few weak chuckles from Annabeth and long after the incident, she would realize Piper never told her about the mystery man that day.

There it is! My first FanFic! Please comment your thoughts and if I should continue it. I also don't know much about how much apartments cost in New York and stuff, so I'm sorry if I get anything wrong. Comment/review please :) I'll always respond! (You'll get a virtual hug:))
