I do not own My Hero Academia, at least not right now, maybe later, if I feel like it.

Heroes. Men and Women that put their life on the line to fight villains all in the name of justice and protecting the innocent. They use fantastical natural abilities called quirks to fight and protect. Quirks showed up unexpectedly two-hundred years ago in the form of a glowing baby in China. While little is understood about quirks and where they came from they still began to spread like wildfire through the populace until now eighty percent of the world population, with an estimated ninety five percent in 20 years, has a quirk. Quirks come in all shapes and sizes from the emitters that can give you control over the elements or a mutation that makes you into a dragon. Nothing is impossible in the world of quirks. Yet for one Izuku Midoriya, who understood the variability of quirks better than most even at the young age of four, his genetic lottery had him questioning whether it was all a joke for some higher powers amusement. He could understand getting telekinesis like his mother or fire breath like his father or some combination of the two but for the universe to play such a joke on a kid who wants nothing more than to save others with a smile on his face like his idol, All-Might the current number one hero and the symbol of peace. He would have even accepted being quirkless because while it was rare for his generation it would at least make some sense, because seriously, a Yo-Yo?

Izuku sat in the backseat of his mother car as she drove him home from his doctor's appointment to examine and categorize his quirk into records so the government could keep track of them all.

(A week prior)

He had woken up with a small wooden yo-yo in his hand. It was much too small for an adult but fit perfectly in his own small hands, even the string was just the right length for his height. At first he had thought his mother had bought it for him and had put it in his hand while he slept for some reason. Not the most reasonable assessment but he's four so just be happy he knows what a yo-yo is. He had gotten out of bed and headed out of his room to find his mother making breakfast. He looked at her and said "Mommy, why'd you buy me a yo-yo?"

"Izuku, honey, I didn't buy you a yo-yo." came the soft voice of Inko Midoriya, Izuku's mother if you haven't figured it out. She was a short woman with dark green hair that just went past her shoulders. Her and Izuku shared a hair color but his curly untamed locks came from his maternal grandfather. Inko had forest green eyes and a slim figure. She was currently wearing a pink coat with a white button up blouse and a blue skirt with a cooking apron over it all.

"Well then why do I have a yo-yo." came Izuku's simple reply.

"Did you take it home with you yesterday from the park when you were done playing. If so that's stealing and not very heroic like. We'll have to find it's owner and return it." replied Inko to her son. She really hoped he didn't start stealing and became a delinquent.

"No, stealing is for villains and I am going to be a hero, like All-Might!" was Izuku's reply to his mother's accusation of thievery.

"I know honey but wait until your quirk comes in before you start trying to save anyone, I don't want you getting hurt." said Inko, already terrified of her son's future heroic escapades.

"I know mommy but I want to save everyone with a smile, like All-Might!" said Izuku fully set on the path of heroics. It was just who he was and nothing could change it.

"I know honey. Here let me have the yo-yo and we'll stop by the park later today and see if we can find the owner." asked Inko, not wanting to risk Izuku becoming attached to it and being unhappy upon having to return it.

Izuku just smiled and made sure to stay a few feet away before holding out his hand with the toy in it. Inko just laughed knowing what he wanted. Ever since he learned about her quirk he had done everything he could to get her to use it. Her quirk and quirks in general just interested him and he wanted to learn everything he could about them. They were so cool and unique that he just loved seeing them in action. Inko complying once again with her son's silent demand held out her hand and started making pulling motions. Her quirk was a minor telekinesis that allowed her to attract small objects towards herself. A child size yo-yo definitely fell into the category of items her quirk should work on. Emphasis on should as even though she was using her quirk the yo-yo remained firmly planted in Izuku's hand. She could feel her quirk grasping it and she could see that Izuku wasn't trying to resist her pull so what was happening? It wasn't till she stopped trying to tug it that she realized the wooden yo-yo had turned green and now had a weak green glow to it. They both just marvelled at it. Izuku being ever curious about quirks had thought that his mother must have some super cool ability that did this and was already thinking of a hundred question he wanted to ask but first he wanted to give the yo-yo a try and even though he had never used one before he just did what felt right and flicked his wrist launching the yo-yo downward. He watched mesmerized as it shot downwards but had to do a double take when it just stayed spinning once it reached the end of the string. Not entirely sure what to do Izuku just trusted his instincts once again and flick his wrist but instead of flying up back to his hand as it should have it only came up a little and then stayed not going down again disobeying the laws of yo-yo's or gravity if you're boring. He made the motion again and again it rose some more. He started doing it over and over with the finished product being him making similar hand motions to his mother when she used her quirk and eventually the yo-yo returned to his palm.

He could only get one thing out even if his mind was full of hundreds of unasked and unanswered questions. "Huh".

Let me know what you think.

This might get silly but the idea was interesting to me.

Will try to keep Izuku from being op but might throw that out the window later depending on how I feel.
