"Lumos," Minerva whispered, it was dark, and she had no idea where she was. She noticed the body of a woman, but it wasn't Hermione… then it started to come back to her. The woman was pale and slender, with her straight blonde hair cascading over the large red pillow. She and Hermione had broken up, and she went drinking with someone. Oh yes, Narcissa…She pulled herself slowly upright in the bed.
Minerva sent Narcissa an owl, not really knowing if she would receive a response. There was a time when the women had become close, and she needed a friend right now. She remembered before Narcissa got married to Lucius the two of them had gone out drinking. It felt just like yesterday. It wasn't long before she got a reply.
Of course, I would love to have a night out.
Minerva smiled through her tears, the fight with Hermione had left her broken, so she splashed water on her face, and changed into one of her favourite pastel blue dresses, donning her regular pulled back hairstyle and letting her hair loose over her shoulders. She put on a bit of foundation, just to conceal the puffy redness beneath her eyes, and used the floo out of her private room at Hogwarts, going straight to Hogsmeade.
"Two tequila sunrises," she asked the bartender, and he gave her a curious look but complied. Hermione had always been a gin and tonic kind of girl, but she remembered that Narcissa used to be a tequila drinker like her. Minerva took a minute to admire the colourful drink, the orange and red of the grenadine at the bottom. She felt a sensation of someone walking through the door of the bar, and she looked up to see Narcissa walking in and smiling at her, that icy smile that she was taught by her husband.
"Minerva," she greeted. "You remembered."
Minerva nodded, and Narcissa took a seat beside her at the bar.
"So, breakup blues?" she continued when Minerva made no verbal reply.
Minerva choked back a sob. "Yes."
"Oh honey," Narcissa said, touching her shoulder gently. "Want to talk about it?"
"No, I want to get drunk enough to forget who I am," Minerva said, her voice holding a force behind it that told Narcissa exactly how bad it was.
"Deal."
The bartender continued to provide shots, and tequila sunrises, while looking at the two older women like he wondered what was going on in their heads, but he didn't bother to comment.
The two ladies were soon giggling like school girls and needed to lean on each other for support. Minerva got to the stage where she was telling Narcissa how much she loved her and what a great friend she was, and that no matter what, she was always there for Minerva.
"Let me take you home," Narcissa said, following Minerva's attempt to kiss her. There was something about her that made Minerva feel so welcome and at home.
"Yes, take me home," Minerva smiled, and Narcissa gave in and kissed her, before the two of them ended up at Malfoy Manor.
"Oh shit," Minerva exclaimed. She had ended up in Narcissa's bedroom in Malfoy Manor, and neither of them had a stitch of clothing on. She felt the blonde stirring and moaning something about the light. Narcissa reached out for her arm that wasn't holding a wand, and moved it as if wanting to pull her into a spooning position.
"What the hell," Minerva whispered. "Nox."
She placed her wand back on the bedside table, and snuggled up behind Narcissa, putting an arm over her and soon falling back to sleep. Tomorrow was another day, but for now, she would simply take comfort in the other woman.
When Minerva woke up the next morning, Narcissa had brought her coffee and was sitting in the bed with the sheets pulled up to her chest.
"I'm surprised you didn't get dressed while I was asleep," Minerva commented, gratefully taking the coffee.
"Wouldn't be fair, would it," Narcissa commented with a cheeky grin. "I stopped you leaving last night."
"That's true, isn't it," Minerva said slowly. "Why?"
Narcissa shrugged before admitting, "I've wanted this for years."
"You? But Lucius." Minerva tried to express her curiosity.
"I've never been as brave as you, Minnie," she said, resorting to the nickname the two had for each other when they used to spend almost all their time together.
"So, you're um, gay?" she asked. Narcissa nodded.
"After Bellatrix said she would never have children, you remember how my parents reacted."
"Like it was yesterday," Minerva said, setting down her mug and taking Narcissa's hand. It had been a night similar to the one before, the only difference was that Minerva had ended up waking up on the couch, not naked in bed with her best friend. "Oh Nicca, should we be doing this?"
"No, but we're doing it anyway." She gave Minerva a reassuring smile. "I don't regret it, you know."
"Which part?" Minerva replied, feeling the blankets slipping down and reaching to cover up.
"Any of it," she replied, moving in to claim Minerva's lips in another kiss.
"Last night?" Minerva muttered against her lips.
"Definitely not," she replied, proceeding to kiss Minerva's long exposed neck.
"The bachelorette party?" she whispered breathlessly.
"Nope."
The bachelorette party had been an interesting experience, Minerva had been the maid of honour, and had dared the bride-to-be to kiss a woman at the bar they were in. The rest of the bridal party had disrupted into giggles, but Minerva, she was watching Narcissa so closely she saw the racing of her heart, her pupils dilating in pleasure. She had shrugged it off as the woman being drunk, and perhaps the thrill of the unattainable.
"I missed you, Nicca," Minerva said softly, and gasped as Narcissa kissed a sensitive spot on her body. "What about the wedding?"
Narcissa stopped abruptly, and the sheets slipped, exposing her naked body. The mood had changed, and Minerva almost regretted asking at all.
"How can I regret the night that gave me my son?" she said. Minerva's eyes hungirly looked at the body of the woman beside her. "I didn't realise you were this insatiable," Narcissa chuckled.
"Sorry," Minerva said, blushing at being caught staring.
"So, shall we keep talking, or do something more fun?" Narcissa asked her, standing up and revealing her entire form to Minerva's hungry eyes.
"What did you have in mind?" Minerva asked.
"Let's forget everything, let's lose ourselves again," Narcissa suggested.
"Just like yesterday?" Minerva asked.
"Just like yesterday, Minnie," Narcissa replied, advancing on her.
"Deal."
