Just a little side story idea I had. I still intend to work on the main Scarlet Scarab idea, but who said I couldn't have some fun?
I do not own Re: Zero or Blue Beetle, or any related DC properties. They all belong to their respective owners.
Enjoy!
"In other breaking news, a bank robbery was foiled today by Tokyo's very own superhero: The Scarlet Scarab!"
I turn my attention away from the chip section and look at the small TV by the door. The news is showing a video of someone in a red armor flying after a speeding car. It cuts to the part where the men are dragged out by police, and the money they stole is returned. it ends with the same flying figure waving at a cheering crowd, before blasting off to somewhere else.
"You think they got my good side?" I whisper under my breath. The only other person in the convenience store is the cashier, but I don't want to risk anyone else hearing me. I'm not a big fan of the looks I would get.
"This "good side" is seen by allies and civilians. The only ones who would see our "bad side" are our enemies."
"That's not what I- never mind" I relent as I pull out my phone. I scroll through my (admittedly short) list of contacts and find my dad's number.
"Akira? What is it?"
"Nothing dad. I'm just calling cause I stopped by the convenience store. I was wondering if you wanted anything.
"The convenience store? I thought you were dealing with that bank issue."
I smirk. "That was a while ago dad. And I told you it wouldn't take long. So, we need anything?"
"It doesn't look like- wait. We could use some more juice, get whatever you like. And some jerky."
"For you?"
"Who else? Oh, and your sister wants some potato chips."
"Jerky, juice, and chips. Got it. I'll see you at home in a bit Dad."
"Alright, later son."
I hang up my cell and grab the stuff. I hope my sister likes BBQ, because they're out of the original brand. I grab a liter of apple juice, after which I grab some jerky from under the cashiers stand.
"Anything else?" the guy says in a monotone, deadbeat voice. Clearly, he hates his job, and I shouldn't continue to bother him.
"No, that's it," I say as I hand him the money. I put the stuff in a bag and walk outside. That's when Khaji decides to talk again.
"Perhaps we should have disintegrated the car. Make an example to truly terrify the criminals."
"What?! No! Why would we do that?"
"Like I said, to make an example. To ensure that those thieves know better than to attempt that again."
"And what if they decide to make us pay for the car? I don't have the money for that."
"That is accurate. Perhaps dismemberment?"
I rub my eyes. It looks like it's going to be one of those conversations with Khaji.
"Look, we've talked about this. We can't just..."
I move my hand from my face, and what I see makes me shut up.
I'm supposed to be in the parking lot of a convenience store. That is where I was walking just two seconds ago.
Why am I suddenly on a brick road? One that is crowded. And has people that look like dedicated furries?
"Khaji?"
...
Why isn't he answering?
"Khaji?!"
"Yes?!"
Thank god he's still here.
"Where are we?"
"I do not know."
Well shit.
Let me know what you guys think of this idea.
Please leave reviews, and I will see you all next time.
Bye!
