Shocking Surprises

After defeating The Shredder in his own headquarters the turtles take their gravely injured father home. Once there, and unsure of what to do, Leo finds something that maybe the key to saving Splinter's life. (Written by faithcorry634)

Chapter 1: When a Victory Feels Like a Loss

The turtles had finally defeated their archenemy The Shredder. But never had victory taste so bitter. After destroying The Shredder's headquarters, they went back to the building were Leonardo had left their father to rest. Splinter was still sleeping or at least, that's what the sons hoped. Donatello checked him over and found a pulse. But the relief was very a little for the brothers as their father didn't open his eyes. There was a helicopter that the Foot had left behind. They decided to use that since their own were damaged. It was the only way to get Splinter home FAST! Sense their vehicle got destroyed. In the copter Leo kept hold of his father saying:

"Don't worry father, we'll be home soon. You'll be alright." Leo said trying to comfort himself as much as the rest of his family.

"It should have been me." Said Michelangelo dejectedly.

Splinter's eyes fluttered open briefly as he said in voice barely audible, "It's...not...your..fault...my son."

Even that little sentence seemed to take all his strength to say, since he closed his eyes again immediately afterward.. Raphael said, "Dad's right Mikey. Shredder is the one who injured him."

"But Shredder wouldn't been able to hurt Sensei if he hadn't been trying to protect me." Mikey said somberly.

"We'll be home in a few minutes." Donatello said trying to be optimistic, "Then we'll be able to help him."

Once back home they weren't prepared to face their friends who were still celebrating the victory over the Shredder but both April O'Neill and Casey Jones were shocked by Splinter's injuries. And after Donatello examined him the conclusion wasn't good. If they didn't find someone to help Splinter would because he had broken ribs, mostly likely a concussion, and who knew what else?

Michelangelo was heartbroken by the news, Raphael wanted to punch something, (which resulted in wrestling match with Casey but it wasn't as enjoyable as the usual ones) and leaving Leonardo April wondering how they could find help for the old master.
