-Gingerbread Lane-
1960
A man walked in the shadows at the dead of night. He tucked in the valuable object in his coat as he walked past dark
allies. The human was and in his mid-twenties. Jared had just gotten into Los Angeles having driven all night to pick up
something life-changing. His truck had to be ditched nearby so no one could see him. His brown eyes looked around the
street names trying to find one in particular. As he was coming out of the ally he quickly retreated behind the trash can.
A cop passed by walking whistling a tune, patrolling the streets no doubt. No one was supposed to be out this late.
There was something sharp in his leg pocket. The sharp tip was jabbing into him. He fixed the darn thing. Quickly Jared
looked both ways to see that if the coast was clear and ran towards the next street. He knew he was close, he had
memorized the map. The slightly tanned man panted as he got to the tunnel. The tunnel that would change his life for the
better. He peeked behind him making sure no one saw him entering and ran again. He held onto the slim rectangular
object at his side as if it was a lifeline. It practically was for him and his wife. This one night. This one hour could make
things so much happier.
Jared got to the end of the tunnel and to his relief he saw the streets were empty. Images of what other toons looked like
flooded his thoughts. The man took off his plain grey hat for a moment scratching his hair. Orange-red hair twinkled in
the moonlight for a brief moment. Refocusing he went to go find a secluded alleyway. He chose Gingerbread Lane to start
his work. The man was so nervous his hands were shaking. Jared took a breath and looked up at the toony stars. It was
so different here it was mind-boggling. Mustering up a small amount of courage, he started his work.
This was illegal. This was a crime. If he got caught who knows what the cops would do. Forget the cops this was bigger
than that, hell maybe even the Feds would get involved. Jared had to get this done good but fast. The love-struck artist
was doing this for her.
From out of his coat and pocket the man took out two very illegal items in Toontown. Two Items that no human should be
holding.
Jared took out his sketchbook and pencil to begin his new life. Jesse Jane James.
