The blue water glistened as it hit the blazing hot sand, before reeling back into the ocean it came from.
"Man, it's nice to relax for once..." Sonic said, leaning back in the beach chair he was sitting in before he continued. "..Especially after that whole situation with the ruby..."
It had only been about a month since the resistance had stopped Eggman from taking over Mobius, and Sonic figured that he deserved a vacation after taking Eggman down once again.
He eventually decided to travel across the sea to West Island; A small island that somehow contained various biomes that were completely different, ranging from jungles to tundras and volcanoes. He figured that not only would it be a nice place to travel to, but Tails might also get a kick out of investigating the bizarre place. Sonic laid back in his chair as he began to fall asleep.
Meanwhile, Eggman was leaning against a wall in a mostly dark room, slightly illuminated by the lights on the ceiling.
In the large room, several humanoid machines resembling hedgehogs dangled from the ceiling lifted only inches from the floor by mechanical arms. Eggman began to walk to one end of the room, as he began to monologue to himself.
"This could be my greatest plan yet.."
As he spoke, a small red and black circular robot emerged from the corridor Eggman was walking towards. "Sir, are they ready to deploy?" The robot questioned, as he gazed at the dozens of robots in the room.
"Of course," Eggman spoke, before continuing his response. "It would be best if we caught him off guard." "Whatever you say," Orbot said with a bored tone before pressing a nearby button. Shortly after, a trapdoor below the robots opened, as their bright red eyes flashed on, illuminating the room.
One by one, they were dropped by the mechanical arms, and they each began to fly off, each going in the same direction:
Toward a nearby island.
Minutes later, Sonic woke up abruptly to the sound of multiple robots landing in the sand around him. Responding immediately, he leaped out of the chair and landed several feet away, just in time to see several energy blasts envelop the chair, vaporizing it as they collided and blew up simultaneously.
"Hey!" Sonic shouted at the robots, before breathing in sharply out of surprise as he saw the robots' faces.
They all looked like Metal Sonic.
"..The heck's going on here?" Sonic briefly looked at each of them and counted at least eight.
"Well geez, looks like Eggman's really stepped up his game, huh?"
One robot replied with a blast of energy fired in the direction of Sonic's head.
Just before the blast could hit him, Sonic quickly stepped to the side before appearing in front of the robot that had fired the blast, instantly performing a roundhouse kick that sent its head flying off.
The other 3 that were closest to Sonic attempted to grab him, but he quickly reacted by dropping to the ground and began spinning on his torso as if he were breakdancing, conjuring wind blasts that tossed the remaining robots away.
"You know, for clones of Metal you guys are nothing!" Sonic exclaimed as he jumped off the ground and landed back on his feet, only just now noticing a giant shadow that covered the beach.
Sonic then looked up and saw a massive airship, with the bright red Eggman Empire insignia on in various places.
"..Ah, shoot. Guess he's back." He exhaled, visibly annoyed.
"Welp, I guess it's time to foil whatever his new little plot is.." Sonic continued talking to himself.
He then pulled out an orange tablet and pressed a couple of buttons on it, and attempted to call someone.
"Hello?" Tails had picked up. "Hey, uh, Tails?" Sonic replied. "Did'ja notice that big flying thingy that just passed over the beach..?". Sonic spoke, as he began running off the beach, and in the direction of a nearby city.
