Chapter 1 Evangeline's surprise

Mare pov:

I miss Cal, but we need time. I need time with my family and needs to be there when Nortra gets rebuilt.

Believe it or not but Evangeline is my best friend now and we do everything together, she helps me forget about Cal and have a good time. And maybe she sensed me thinking about him, because she just came bounding through my door.

"Mare bare!" she yells excitedly.

"No" I reply.

"What?"

"Then name."

"Okay MB"

Mare Barrow is gone with my childhood home, Mareena Titanos left with the palace I was forced to call home for almost a year of my life and the lightning girl died when the war ended and I will never be the Red Queen. People call me MB short for Mare Barrow.

"where you thinking about Cal again?" asks Eve

Since we became friends I have called her Eve and she calls me whatever annoying name she can come up with.

"yeah" I reply. If I lied she would know straight away.

"well I know exactly how to distract you." She says "Tolly and Elane got divorced!"

"And?"

"I getting married!"

"You and Elane are getting married?!"

"Nah, I am marring Bree, no Tramy.

We both crack up laughting.
