A/N: I don't own anything, just some fun. A little one shot.

"Scorpius? Are you here?" Draco leaned against the doorframe with his arms and ankles crossed; concern heavy in his voice.
"No." a tiny stubborn voice was muffled under what Draco could only assume was a pillow in the fort of sheets his son had in the closet.
"Oh, that's too bad. I was looking forward to having dinner with Scorpius. Do you know where he went to?" Draco laid down in the doorframe at the entrance of the tiny fort.
"He ran away. He don't like you. You're mean."
Draco nodded his head. "I am. I'll just leave you, but if you happen to see my son can you tell him that I love him."
Draco walked to the dinner table and sat in his seat at the head of the table. The food in front of him disregarded. He had no idea how long he sat there before he saw the tiny head of his four-year-old son peak around the doorway. Little feet shuffled closer until it took a full five minutes to reach the side of his father's chair.
"Why did you make her leave?" Draco's son looked up with eyes that reminded him of her. It wasn't the color but the shape and raw emotion Scorpius held in them when he looked at Draco.
Draco reached for Scorpius and pulled him to his lap, "I didn't make her leave. She died."
"Why didn't you make her better? You make me better when my tummy hurts."
Draco's arms tightened around his son, "She didn't have a tummy ache and I tried. I tried every potion I knew of and found. I just couldn't save Mummy. I wanted to save her more than you know."
Draco then held his son as tears fell causing his little body to shudder. Astoria had been gone three months and this was the first time Scorpius had come to Draco. This was the first conversation they had had since Astoria died. Every day had been the same. Scorpius in his fort, the last play tent him and Astoria had made together. He would only eat what the elves would bring him. He never even cried at the funeral. He stood next to Draco, head held up, stoic, but never saying a word. Nothing until tonight, together in their tiny dining room. Tonight they held each other, cried, and held on to each other.
"Daddy?"
"Yes?"
"I miss her."
"I miss her too. I miss her too."
There the Malfoy men sat in silence as dinner went cold. Draco told Scorpius everything he could from how they met, where they had gone on their first date, when Draco proposed, where they were when Draco found out about Scorpius, who was the winner of Scorpius' first word, what they felt when they found out she was sick, and why Astoria wouldn't let anyone tell Scorpius she was sick.
"Mummy wanted you to remember all the happy things the two of you did. Camping in the forts, hunting butterflies in the garden, baking me the best sweets I have ever had, and he making you laugh. Mummy loved your laugh so much."
"Do you love my laugh?" He asked staring straight into Draco's eyes he thought he could see through him. "No."
Scorpius' face fell, "No?"
"No, I like your laugh but I love that everything I miss about Mummy I find in you. You have her heart, her soul, her goodness, and I love that you let me keep her."
Scorpius smiled, "I love you too." This is how Hermione, Draco's assistant, found them the next morning. Scorpius sleeping across Draco's lap and chest with Draco's hands cradling Scorpius, one splayed over the tiny back of his son while the other rested in his hair. Her tears fell silently down her face as she left them to go and start her research in the library. They would find her later and while she would never tell she saw them, Draco would know.
Hermione went to leave at the end of the day of work. "Granger, would you like to stay for dinner?"
She smiled up at him from her place on the floor where she was examining maps, "Thank you but it's James' birthday dinner although Harry and Ginny wouldn't mind if you and Scorpius join in?"
He nodded, "We wouldn't have a gift."
"Nonsense; when was the last time you were out of the house; either of you?" She asked as he helped her stand.
Rubbing the back of his neck, "That would be three months ago. Well, that is, unless you are counting the times we have gone and seen my parents?"
"Nope that doesn't count. Scorpius?"
"Yes, Miss Hermione?" He looked up from his magical crayons and the picture he was drawing.
"Would you like to go and see James and Albus and have cake and ice cream?"
The tiny boy jumped up excitedly from his spot near the coffee table, "Oh yes! Daddy can we go?"
Draco couldn't deny Scorpius anything before Astoria passed away so he knew now that his son was talking to him again it would be damn near impossible to tell him no.
"Of course, you pick up your colors and papers and then we will get ready and go."
Hermione laughed aloud, "You two are perfectly fine the way you are."
"We are?" Draco cocked his eyebrow as he looked to their casual dress of jeans, with him in a beige button down and Scorpius in a Slytherin tee shirt.
Hermione walked up to him and pressed her hand to his chest, "Yes, you two are perfect just the way you are."
Draco felt a familiar feeling in his gut he hadn't felt in a long time as he looked into her deep brown eyes. "Yes, well then we should get going."
Hermione took Scorpius by the hand and said, "Yes, lets."
