The Best Birthday!
"Happy Birthday Prongs," said Sirius. James sat up and reached for his glasses. "Wow! You guys did all this?" He said looking around the room to see streamers and enchanted mini broomsticks flying around. "Yeah," Sirius said "Wormtail's Idea for the streamers, and mine for the broomsticks and Moony helped us enchant them to fly around," he said giving Remus a pat on the back. James looked around, all of the boys were already dressed in their uniforms so he said "Why don't you all head on without me" he said. " You sure Prongs?" asked Remus, he wouldn't mind waiting for his friend. "He's sure Moony I'm starving," said Sirius pulling Remus out of the boy's dormitories leaving James to get ready. Once he was ready and reached the hall he searched for the other Marauders. He was shocked when he saw the entire Gryffindor quidditch team and Lily Evans sitting at the middle of the table ( this was James' favorite spot to sit because he loved to be the center of attention). He walked up to everyone "Hullo" he said as he sat down next to Sirius. "Hullo James," said Lily as she blushed. "Is it just me or did she just say James?" "Don't push your luck Potter" Lily said with a grin. "James tonight we are going to have the epicist" "Padfoot," said Remus "it would be the most epic, epicist isn't a word". "Whatever Moony, anyway Prongs as I was saying you are going to have the epicist" Sirius gave a quick glare at Remus "Birthday party ever," Sirius said. "I should go before I'm late for class," said Lily giving James a quick smile and walking away cheeks blushing. "Can't believe that we're friends now," said James. "Looks like Evans is finally warming up to you Prongs," said Sirius messing up James' hair even though it already was. "See you in potions" Sirius yelled, going farther until he was completely out of the great hall. "Happy Birthday James" Said Professor. Slughorn patting James on the back as he entered the class. "Thanks, Professor," James said walking into the classroom and sitting next to Lily Evans hoping to talk to her and convince her into going into Hogsmeade with him this weekend or at least not getting hexed. "Class dismissed," said Professor. Slughorn. James sighed, he had not been able to talk to Lily during class but maybe he could find her in the halls. He picked up his books, emptied out his cauldron, and followed Lily into the hall. "Hullo Lily," said James smiling. "Hullo James, "Lily said. "Er I um," James ran his hand through his hair " I was, um, wondering if you, er, would like to, um, go with me to Hogsmeade this weekend". He had rushed saying the last little bit making sure not to pause. "Oh, I, um, sure," said Lily grinning leaving James standing, his jaw dropped. " Wait, I don't know if I heard correctly" "I said I'll go," said Lily. "Wow!" James laughed and ran his hand through his hair "You think you might come tonight? I heard the party is supposed to be super epic, well if Sirius says so himself." Lily laughed "I might" "Ok" "We'll I should go see you tonight" "Ok bye Lily."
James was amazed. After many years of asking he had finally got Lily to say yes to going to Hogsmeade with him. He stood still for a moment before laughing to himself and heading on to his next class.
James walked into the room of requirement to see almost every Gryffindor, the entire Gryffindor Quidditch team, all of his friends, and Lily Evans! Everyone cheered him on as he entered the room. James grinned, he was amazed at the turnout his party had and everyone came for his birthday for him. He couldn't believe Lily Evans had come either. I mean come on she was Lily Evans, and he was James Potter the trouble maker, the one with countless detentions from Professor. McGonagall. He walked over to Sirius, Remus, and Peter " Hullo" he said " Like the party Prongs?" said Sirius he was very fond of their work. "Of course I do, thanks Padfoot, Moony, and Wormtail. You guys are the absolute best." " Evans is coming, Prongs," said Remus. James panicked " What! She can't be, what do I do?" Remus laughed " It's ok James just be yourself." "Hullo James", "Hullo Lily" "Enjoying the party?" "Yes, it's wonderful" they stared at each other for what felt like hours until Lily broke the silence " Happy Birthday," she said and as she walked away she kissed him on the cheek. Sirius walked over to James " Did you see that?" said James he wanted to make sure it had actually happened, that he wasn't dreaming. "Sure did Prongs, sure did." As the Marauders all gathered headed for the dance floor all James could think was this is the best birthday ever!
