"Hoho, thank you for coming in on such short notice, Luigi my boy! You have no idea how excited I am for this newest experiment I've got planned!"
These words from Professor E Gadd sent a nervous chill down Luigi's spine, only half-heartedly nodding in timid understanding as he stood relatively silent in the rather messy lab of the old man. Paper and other everyday desk items were carelessly strewn about all over the floor. Empty bottles, cups, and chinese food boxes piled up in the corners of countless computer banks and just about any surfaces that were available to the specter scientist.
E Gadd wasn't slow to notice this steadily growing anxiety from the green plumber, nor was he really all that surprised. "Hoho! No need to worry, Luigi boy! This won't have you tumbling through a few haunted halls to rub elbows with the undead! No Siree, my boy! This will be… More of a work at home kind of experiment…" He chuckled.
However, he couldn't help but feel a twinge of regret when he noted Luigi's new-found look of relief as the boy sighed heavily. Especially with what he was about to say next…
"No… But, you see… Um…" Now how to word it properly without the easily frightened plumber running off on him?
"So… How well has that Polterpup been treating you?" The professor asked rather cryptically. It's best to try and at least ease Luigi into it.
He then proceeded to listen to the green plumber mutter about the ghost pup in seemingly unintelligible gibberish. Those who didn't know or follow on Luigi's vocal and physical cues would all probably assume he was rambling incoherent nonsense that meant nothing. It was partly the reason why hardly anyone paid much attention to the younger of the two plumbing heroes.
However, E Gadd and a few others were more or less quick to pick up on the odd language of a Luigi as he gibbered. So, the professor simply nodded at the information the plumber was espousing. Looking pleased as he started typing away at the large computer at his desk.
"Hohoho, of course! Any dog's a good dog really… Living or dead!" He laughed. Luigi could only nod cheerfully in agreement with the old professor.
Then the plumber's anxiety went up again, when he saw an awfully familiar and mischievous glint catch in E Gadd's glasses when he turned back to face him again. "But… How would you feel if I gave you another ghost to look after for me?" He asked.
Luigi just drawled an A sound from his mouth as he tried to catch on to what the admittedly wacky professor was implying, before it was too late for him to back out.
With this, E Gadd struck a key on the board of the computer with a toothy grin, causing a low rumbling sound to stir the ground beneath the both of them. Luigi only managing to keep his balance, as he watched a clear glass cylinder that emitted a pinkish-purple glow rise from the white tiled floor beside the both of them. White smoke erupting dramatically from the opened crevice beneath it, obscuring it's continents in a wispy blur.
The plumber had to cough a bit from the clouds of white before he could look up at whatever the heck wanted to show-off to him.
However, once the smoke cleared and he gained his barings from the rumble… Luigi almost immediately wished that he had just ignored that phone call from the crazed scientist all-together, looking up at the ghastly apparition of his nightmares that floated boredly in the large glass container.
"Now, I know what you're thinking…" The professor whispered knowingly to Luigi, quickly reading the growing horror on the man's face. "But, if you'll just hear me out; Then maybe our pal King Boo here, will not look as scary to you as he probably does now!"
And with that in mind, our hero abruptly fainted.
