Best Day of Their Lives

Ginny's breath caught in her throat at the side of her soon-to-be wife in a lovely pale pink dress walking down the aisle. When they had been planning the big day, Ginny asked about Lavender wearing white out of tradition, but Lavender almost fell down in laughter. "Since when have you ever known me to be traditional?"

Ginny had to concede Lavender's point. Traditional would never be a way to describe the blonde. And she was glad for Lavender's decision. The color of the dress complimented her in such a magnificent way, bringing out the sparkle in Lavender's eyes and hugging her figure so deliciously.

She had never seen anyone so beautiful in her life.

When they stood side by side and stared into each other's eyes, Ginny knew this was where she wanted to be for her entire life. She listened with half an ear to the beginnings of the ceremony, and then it came times for the vows.

She was a bit nervous. She hoped she didn't sound too corny.

Ginny rubbed a finger over Lavender's hand, feeling the warmth. "Lavender, no one ever thought we'd make it. They said the way we got together didn't make for everlasting love. We sure proved them wrong." She paused for the inevitable chuckles and then continued with a smile, "Lavender, the first time you kissed me was to show me that I didn't need Harry to be happy. That I could find someone else to love, find someone that would love me in return. Of course, you didn't love me either. But you spent a lot of time mourning the loss of your relationship with Ron and didn't want me to follow in your footsteps. Our first kiss was a way for you to cheer me up. And it worked. We started sneaking around, kissing in corridors. You were my guilty pleasure, and I wanted to keep you all to myself. Nothing stays secret for long, though. And when we became public knowledge, you didn't shy away from the attention. In fact, you seemed proud to get caught, and I think I fell in love with a little bit right there. There was no shame at all. You were just happy to finally be out in the open, and I felt guilty for keeping it quiet so long. The relationship started out as a way for you to cheer me up, but it became everything to me. And here we are today." She finished. One stray tear rolled down her cheeks, but that was it.

Lavender had multiple tears wetting her face, though. She was the more emotional one out of the two of them after all. "That was lovely." She wiped away a tear and began her vows. "Some people accused me of trying to use Ginny to get Ron or another boy jealous. That was never true. We had both been hurt by unrequited love. I thought if anyone understood that kind of pain, it was someone else who experienced the heartache. It started out as some casual fun, no strings attached and no hard feelings. But when I began dreaming about Ginny's lips while I slept, I knew I was a goner. I probably fell in love with her before she fell in love with me, and it hurt to think another Weasley would never return my feelings. Alas, all she needed was some time to see me as something more than just a friend she enjoyed kissing every now and then. I'll never regret giving her my heart. Ginny Weasley is everything to me."

"I should have known you'd go for the dramatics," Ginny lightly joked.

"Can't help it. You know who your marrying."

"And I wouldn't have it any other way," Ginny said.

The rest of the ceremony was a blur, up until the part where they kissed and became wives. That was a kiss that Ginny would never forget."
