Disclaimer: I don't own Y&R

Hi again!

A oneshot just because I want to see Amanda and Billy on a desk…together ;).

"We need someone to go through all this jargon before we move forward." said Lily as they went through some legal paperwork regarding the media things. Things had been coming together really well. The division was a part of Chancellor Industries but it was separate from the main branch which meant they had to hire their own personnel and basically work like it was their company only reporting to the board about their progress, challenges, profits etc.

"You are right. We cannot do all this by ourselves. We need legal counsel and I have just the person." said Billy.

Lily looked at Billy then smiled knowingly. "And is that person the mysterious attorney that happens to wear my brother's late wife's face?" said Lily with a smirk and a raised eyebrow. She was glad that she and Billy were starting to find common ground. They still bickered here and there of course but they were getting along quite well, even talking about their personal lives. She had even told him about her boyfriend even though they weren't serious about each other and he had told her some of what was going on between him and Victoria. It felt good to have a friend to talk to about these things and get advice when needed.

"There is nothing mysterious about her and yes. She is the best at what she does. Do you know that she graduated top of her class at Yale Law? She also set the record back in Madison for the number of cases closed and she has never lost a case. I mean that's quite a feat."

Lily looked at Billy as he spoke passionately about Amanda's accomplishments and she smiled knowingly. Never had she seen him that passionate about someone else like that and they had been friends before. "I can imagine that." Said Amanda in a teasing tone.

Billy fought the urge not to blush though he knew he didn't succeed. "My point is we need someone like that on our side. She can look through our contracts and business ventures and represent us in court if needed."

"So she will be here full time or we call her when needed?"

"That I will have to speak to her about. So are you ok with my suggestion?"

Lily nodded. With the way Billy was acting, having Amanda here prove to be very interesting. "I will need to see her credentials otherwise from what you told me, I see no problem."

"So you don't mind that she shares your brother's dead wife's face?" he asked throwing her words back at her, a smile on his face.

"Of course not." Said Lily then she sighed. "I was spooked when I first saw her. I mean, Hilary and I, we were never really friends. Always butting heads."

"I remember those days."

"Yeah and then the accident. It was a terrible time so to see Amanda standing there, it was like Hilary was back and I couldn't help but feel so much guilt. When I found out about the will and how she orchestrated Devon losing his inheritance, I was furious. It was almost like something Hilary would do to someone else."

"And now?"

"I am over that. I spoke to Devon. I know what happened between them and that she wasn't to blame. And also, she is not Hilary and I think she deserves a clean slate from all of us, to get to know her as Amanda and not a reincarnation of a ghost."

Billy nodded smiling. It wasn't easy for Lily, he knew that but he was glad she was ready to move on. "Great. I will talk to her about it. If she agrees, you can see her creds.

'Hi. Can I see you tonight? There is something I need to talk to you about. Our usual place.' Billy looked at the message before he sent the message. He had to wait 5 long minutes before he got the responds. 'See you there.' He smiled.

Amanda walked into 'their' bar and it didn't take her long to spot him sitting on their usual table. She took the time to look at him and marvel at how good looking he really was. As if he sensed her presence, he looked up and their eyes met. They gazed at each other for moments, almost as if they couldn't look away before she broke the contact looking down at her feet walking toward him.

"Hi."

"Hi."

"I'm glad you came." Said Billy with a smile. She looked so beautiful. He had missed her, he had missed their chats. He signalled to the waiter to bring a second glass of what he was having, a double, scotch, neat…their favourite.

"Well your text was pretty compelling." She said smiling back at him settling herself.

"I had to say something to get you to meet me." he said looking at her. They were quiet before he said, "You have been avoiding me."

"Billy…" said Amanda with a sigh. He was right about that. She had been avoiding him it was true. She could see how much it hurt him and it made her feel bad. She just didn't know how to get back to being friends with him after that kiss. She wanted to but just seeing him was making her feel things she wasn't ready for at least from him.

"I thought we agreed we were friends." stated Billy.

"We are." said Amanda before she accepted her scotch and took a sip.

"Then why? I don't understand. We used to meet and talk but now, it's like things have changed."

"They haven't Billy." said Amanda sincerely now really feeling bad.

"I am glad to hear that." said Billy fighting not to ask about her interactions with Nate. He had seen them twice out together for lunch and even though he was curious as to their relationship, he knew it wasn't his place to question her. After all, she had once told him, 'No one told her who she could talk to.' And he respected that. It didn't mean it didn't hurt. "So how have you been?"

Amanda was glad he didn't push for the real reason she had been avoiding him. she wasn't ready to talk to him about that yet. "Really busy. I am looking for a job and an apartment so it's a bit hectic."

"I can imagine that. So have you found one?"

"One what?" asked Amanda with a little frown of confusion.

"A job."

"No. Not yet. There are a couple of firms interested but I am still putting some feelers out."

"That's good. It's why I want to talk to you actually. I may have something for you that could be the challenge you are looking for."

"And what might that be?" asked Amanda intrigued then her eyes widened at the look he was giving her. "No…Billy…No." He couldn't be serious!

"Yes. You are in need of a job, we need a lawyer for the division. There is a lot of work that needs to be done and we need someone who understands the legal stuff. That's where you come in with your brilliance."

"I can't work for you." said Amanda shaking her head at the craziness of that thought.

"Why not?" asked Billy in his whining tone that made her want to laugh.

"You really want me to list reasons? Fine. First Lily? Would she even want to work with me considering her history with Hilary?"

"Of course why wouldn't she? You are not Hilary. You may look like her, but the 2 of you couldn't be more different. Beside, we already talked about it and she is on board."

Amanda was surprised about that information. "She is?"

"You are the best there is." Billy simply stated.

Amanda blushed at the praise and the way he looked at her when he said that. Taking a sip of her scotch to hide her emotions, she said, "What about your family?"

"This is my project. I am in charge. No one else so they won't mind as long as we are doing a good job."

"And Victoria? She will not be happy to hear that you are working with me Billy."

"Victoria is a non-factor."

"She already suspects something between us…"

"And that is none of her business. She is the mother of my children, nothing more. Besides, the only one that matters in this decision is my work partner Lily and you. Who I work with is really none of her concern."

"I don't know Billy. Us, working together? We are both so different. You always complained about Lily and how you can't find common ground with her."

"I know that we are different but we have also clicked in so many ways already, in ways I haven't clicked with anyone else so that's a plus to you." They share a laugh at that. "This could be another way we find we are compatible. I think it will be nice sparring with you..." he said looking at her in a way that made her blush.

Amanda sighed. She wasn't sure about this. Yes, she and Billy got along really well as friends but she also couldn't forget what had happened between them, the reason she had been avoiding him. Even now, it was there. An underlying current, a chemistry that was so effortless, that was so easy to just lose yourself in and not at all easy forget nor ignore no-matter how much they tried. Could she work with him, see him every single day and still maintain their friendship? Could she do it and not fall and give in to her feelings? "Can I think about it?" she asked looking at him.

"Of course. Just don't take too long." said Billy with a smirk. "Now that we have talked about work, can we just talk like before?"

"I would like nothing more." said Amanda smiling.

Soon their table was full of laughter as they traded stories and fell into the usual rapport and had a good time.

"I have missed you." said Billy suddenly.

Amanda looked up at him in surprise and their eyes met and held before she said softly, "I have missed you too."

Amanda walked confidently into the office that belonged to Billy. It was big of course with classy nice furniture that suited his style. This was her first day of work for the media division of chancellor and she was excited.
On one of the chairs sat Lily, Devon's sister. They had crossed paths some time back and she didn't know what to expect. Billy had said she was fine with her being there but who knows.

Billy smiled when he saw her and got up from his seat, his eyes drawn to her. She was in a blue knee length business dress, black heeled pimps and her hair was pulled back in an elegant bun. She looked absolutely beautiful and he began to wonder if he was wise having her here, seeing her every day and try to maintain the promise that they would be friends only.

Amanda wasn't faring any better at how his gaze was affecting her. This was turning out to not be a good idea at all. "Amanda. I am glad you agreed to join us."

"It was too good an offer to resist. I just hope we can work together to get this project off the ground." Said Amanda with a smile glancing at Lily.

"I am happy to welcome you too Amanda." Said Lily standing up and shaking her hand gently.

"Thank you." Said Amanda smiling at the woman.

"Well then, let's get to it." said Billy

The 3 of them sat down and began talking about what her duties will be, what they intended for the company and everything else. It took a whole 2 hours to get over everything.

"So you up to it?" asked Lily.

"Yeah I am up for it." said Amanda smiling.

"Well then, let me show you to your office." said Billy.

"Sure." said Amanda trying not to look at him and she followed him out.

Lily stood there staring at the 2 with a grin. They couldn't make it more obvious. The tension between them could be sliced with a knife and she wasn't sure what was holding them back. Did she mind if Billy and Amanda got it on? She wasn't sure. She could tell Amanda was a professional and that she wouldn't mess up the job. She didn't know if Billy could do that though. She would just wait and see. If he couldn't do it, then she would have to sit him down. She smirked when she imagined how that conversation would go.

"Well, this will be your office. I hope you like it."

Amanda looked around. It was large with an oak desk, chairs, a couch, a fridge and some basic necessities. "I like it."

"Good." Said Billy. "So um, I will leave you to make it home." he said with a smile at her.

"Of course." Said Amanda smiling at him. They stood there, staring at each other. Was the room suddenly hot? Billy was the first to break the contact.

"Well, if you need anything, let me know."

"Of course."

Billy made to leave then turned around and said, "I am glad you are here Amanda."

"Me too." She said softly watching as he walked out leaving her standing there in her new office.

Amanda was sitting in her office, reading through some paperwork. It was 2 weeks now since she began working Billy and Lily and she had to admit, she was enjoying the job.

Lily was wonderful to be around. She had a good business acumen and they agreed on most things. They had also gone out together one night just to clear out the air and talk and it had been enlightening. It also helped them move on from the Hilary saga altogether and she was happy about that.

With Billy, things were intense. They were both trying to act normal and ignore what was going on between them but it wasn't really working. Long, Intense, lingering looks, unnecessary grazes and touches that left her breathless and were becoming a staple. Her thoughts went back a one of the moments they had shared.

Amanda was in her office picking up her coat and handbag when she looked up and saw Billy standing on the doorway.

"Hi." She said admiring his tall frame. He always looked so good.

"Hey. Are you almost done?"

"Yeah. Why?"

"I thought we could go get some drinks."

"Billy…I…"

"Please don't say no."

"I am not…"

Billy walked closer to her and took her hand. "I just want to talk to you and spend some time with you. Don't you want to?"

"I do."

"Then say yes. Please." He said softly looking into her eyes. Their gazes held and slowly their heads leaned together. They could literally feel each other's breathe on their lips and just as their lips were about to meet, a sound of heels pulled them apart and they looked at the doorway where Lily appeared a moment later.

And then there was another moment…

Amanda was in Billy's office discussing about some legal wording she wanted to add on a document. When they were done, Amanda said, "Well, I better go and fix this."

His hand reached out and held hers, their eyes met and held. Unable to take the suffocating emotions that filled her, Amanda took her hand from his and stood up. "Um, I will send you the edited document she said then stood up and turned to leave.

"Amanda…" said Billy looking at her.

She stopped, her back still at him and she could hear him as he left his chair and walked over to her. She turned when she felt his body heat and found herself in his personal space.

He grabbed her hand making her gasp softly. "Why are you running from this? From us?" he asked in a throaty low voice

"I am not." She said with a confidence she lacked. "I told you, we are friends." she said looking at anywhere but his eyes.

"If we are friends, then why do we feel the way we do? Why do you feel the need to avoid me? I don't know about you, but friends don't look at each the way we do." said Billy

Amanda used her strength and resolve to pull back from him. "I got to go. I have work that I need to finish." she said before she almost sprinted out of the office.

There were a lot more moments like this and she honestly didn't know how long she could hold on. She found herself hiding in her office just to avoid being in close proximity with him. It wasn't easy. He wasn't making it easy for her and she had a feeling he was enjoying watching her reaction to him. It would make her mad if she couldn't see how much she affected him too.

"I see what I heard was true."

Amanda looked up, pulled from her thoughts by the voice and was surprised to see Victoria standing there on her doorway. She had heard from Billy that Victoria had been cleared for work and had taken her position as CEO at Newman. She did look well but she was still puzzled as to what she was going here.
Amanda put her pen down and said, "Victoria. Hi. Um, you look well. Billy told me you were back at work."

"Of course he told you." said Victoria looking around the office. "So you are working here now."

"Yes I am. Billy and Lily needed my expertise and since I hadn't found a job yet, here I am."

"Just helping out a friend huh?" said Victoria sarcastically.

"Yes." said Amanda forcing herself not sigh. Were they really going to do this again? It was quite unnerving to have Victoria questioning her when she could be talking to Billy about whatever was bothering her. "Did you need something? Billy's office is on the other side if you want to see him."

"Actually I have already been there. I was talking to him about our kids." She stated emphasizing on the word 'our'

Amanda nodded slowly wondering what was really going on then said, "Ok then. Did you need something from me because I need to get back to my work?"

"No. I got what I needed. Have a good day." said Victoria and she walked out leaving Amanda looking puzzled. What just happened?

XXX

She was just getting back to her files when the door opened again and this time it was Billy. "I saw Victoria coming from your office. What did she want?" he asked curiously a frown on his face.

Amanda looked at him with a bland stare and said, "Apparently to see if it was true that I was working here and to tell me she was talking to you about 'your' kids."

Billy rolled his eyes clearly exasperated as he sat down on the chair before her. "I don't know what her problem is to be honest. All this time, she has been refusing to speak to me and then she just turned up here to talk about the kids. Apparently now was a good a time as any."

"Did she allow you to see them?" asked Amanda

"Yeah. Apparently the kids keep asking to see me so we had an agreement of sorts. I will go and see them over the weekends and spend the day with them."

"That's great. Right?"

"Yeah. It's better that nothing."

"I am sorry." said Amanda feeling bad for him. For all his faults, she knew he loved his children a lot and it was petty of Victoria to hold them back from him.

"Yeah well, it is what it is."

"She still loves you." Stated Amanda suddenly.

"What?"

"Victoria. She still loves you that's why she was here. It wasn't really to see you, but to confirm if I am really working with you. She feels threatened by me."

"Why would she? She knows we are done. She has said so herself that whatever we had was beyond repair and she is right. We can't get back to what we were even if I wanted to."

"Love just doesn't go away Billy." Said Amanda with a sigh. This thing with Billy was

"Is that why you don't want to be with me?" asked Billy looking at her suddenly hit by epiphany. Now he understood her hesitancy.

"This is not the time to talk about that. I need to get back to work."

Billy rose and went to the door, fully closing it and locking it.

"Billy…" she said wearily.

"You think I will go back to her." He asked looking at her wanting to hear her thought process.

Amanda got up from her chair and began pacing, clearly frustrated. "Of course I do. She is the mother of your children! You told me she was the woman you love and you have history and the endgame is you always get back to her. What else am I to think? That I am different?"

"Yes." said Billy in conviction.

Amanda scoffed at that.

"I mean it Amanda. I love my children and you know that but as much as I do and as much as I would want to see them every day, I wouldn't get back with Victoria. It wouldn't work out not after what I have discovered." He said then his gaze held her, the meaning clear in his eyes.

"You don't know that."

"I do." He walked to her slowly, looking deep in her eyes as he spoke softly in a husky voice that hit her deep, made her shiver all over. "How can I go back when I know how it feels to be with you, to talk to you, to see you smile, to hear you laugh? How can I go back when I know how your lips feel against mine, how sweet you taste, how your touch feels on my skin?" His hand touched her, trailing her eyes, her nose, her lips while his gaze still held hers, burning and intense.

She was breathless. His words, his touch, his warmth was clouding her, blanketing her in a haze of lust and passion. She knew she should move, she should ask him to leave but she didn't. She didn't want to. She wanted him too. She had tried to avoid it, to pretend it wasn't there, that they were just friends but that had been a lie. They couldn't. That kiss they shared, she couldn't take it off her mind. At night she lay awake thinking about it, fantasizing on how it would happen again. "Billy…" she moaned out.

"I want you Amanda. God help me. I have tried to honour your wishes and be just friends but I can't anymore. Can you?" he asked gently watching her gorgeous face, seeing her surrender to his touch. "Can you deny us this?"

"No." said Amanda before she pulled him down in an intense passionate kiss that curled her toes. She gasped, unable to stop the moans escaping from her lips. His hands gripped her around the waist hard but not painful. In that way that she would feel them long after. Her hands trailed his strong chest, his shoulders, his cheeks, anywhere they could reach as the kiss continued, arousal rising quickly.

Billy couldn't get enough of her. She felt so good. That first kiss they shared was nothing compared to this. It was intense, it was passionate, it was everything you would want in a kiss. His hands trailed her perfect body, surrounded by her scent, hearing her little sighs and moans and he could feel his body rising in arousal. Gently picking her up, he set her on the desk, pushing the things on her desk to the other side. He could hear some of the stuff falling with a clutter but he didn't care his focus on this gorgeous creature. He thanked the gods that she was wearing a skirt and button down blpuse.

Amanda felt his large body come over her and her arms went around his neck pulling him close, their lips coming together again. She couldn't get enough of him. she moaned when his lips left hers, trailing to her neck. Her hands left his neck and slid down his back and she untucked his shirt, her fingers itching to touch his skin. His hands trailed up her exposed thighs making her shiver and buck her hips. Her skin felt like it was one pulsing nerve and each touch was driving her closer to madness.

Billy was so lost in her. Wanting to touch her, he opened her blouse and moaned at the dark red lace bra that greeted him. He kissed her down her neck, her chest, his hands caressing her relishing in her moans. He wanted her. He wanted her so bad.

It was when she felt his hand going to her back to unclasp her bra that Amanda got back some of her senses.

"Billy…we have to stop…" she breathed out then let out a moan when his lips hit a sensitive spot on her neck. "Oh my God… (moan) Billy please…(gasp) this is not professional."

"I don't care." Billy growled out his lips returning to hers to silence her with a kiss. It worked at least for a while as they got lost in the kiss.

"Billy….stop…We can't. Not here."

"Then where?"

"My suite. Tonight." She said breathless

"You promise?"

"I promise."

Billy looked at her then leaned down and captured her lips. This time it was a slow, gently kiss and she felt his hands buttoning her top one by one his fingers caressing the skin he came in contact with making her shiver. It was the sexiest thing ever and it took all she had not to just throw caution to the wind and just make love to him.

Billy broke the kiss and looked at her. "I better go." He said tucking back his shirt and making himself look presentable.

"You better do." said Amanda getting off the desk and straightened her skirt then her hand went to his lips, wiping the lipstick off. She gasped when his lips captured her finger, sucking it into his hot mouth, his gaze locked on her. God help me, she thought as she fought her libido.

Billy smirked releasing her finger then said, "See you tonight."

"Tonight." She breathed out and watched as he walked, his tall frame having a natural swag to it. He turned around at the doorway and smiled at her before he was gone.

Amanda stood there, for the second time that day thinking, what just happened?

There it is.

For the love of me, I can't write Lily. I just don't know how to write her that's why there is no full scene of her.

I am not so sure if I did good justice to this one (I have a bad flu. St least I have no headache that usually accompanies it but it's still draining). I hope you enjoy it all the same.

Tell me what you think.
