-PIXIE POV-
Pixie's mother, the Oh-So-Famous-Beatrix Lebeau, woke Pixie up early on a Monday morning and asked her to go feed the slimes. Pixie gladly jumped out of bed, excited for a chance to get away and to bond with her favorite slimes, and dashed to her dresser. She pulled out an outfit: bright blue jeans, a periwinkle T-shirt, and a navy blue sleeveless jean jacket. She tucked her unusual dark pink hair into a high-ponytail and put on a pair of bright pink high-tops.
Pixie quickly ate a bowl of Cuberry Cereal for breakfast and dashed outside into the hot, sunny, early morning . As soon as the slimes saw her, they bounced up and down in giddy excitement, excited to see her again. Pixie smiled and ran over to the garden to grab some Carrots and Oca Ocas to feed to the slimes.
Pixie had been living on The Ranch with her mom, dad, and five-year-old brother, Dak, since she was a baby. Her mother was Beatrix Lebeau, the girl who discovered all of The Far, Far Range and lived on The Ranch all her life. That was great and all, having a famous mom, but Pixie liked to get away sometimes and hang out with the slimes, her only real friends on The Ranch.
Pixie tossed the Oca Ocas and the Carrots into the Rock Slimes' corral. The slimes bounced up and down and gobbled the vegetables as if they hadn't eaten in a month. Pixie laughed as she pushed the button on the Plort Collector.
"You guys must be hungry!" she exclaimed, sucking up the plorts with her Vac. Because of her mother's famousness and wealth, she had a top-of-the-line, limited edition, expensive Vac. Personally, Pixie would've settled for a regular Vac like the one her mother had grown up with, but apparently that wasn't okay. Pixie needed to have "all the necessities in supreme condition," according to her mother. At least her father wasn't as stuck up and fancy as her mother.
After Pixie collected the Rock plorts, she fed all the other slimes, which included Fire, Puddle, Phosphor, Dervish, Honey, Rad, Hunter, Tabby, Crystal, and even the dangerous Saber slime, as well as many others, until practically the whole ranch was fed and happy. Pixie shot all the plorts she'd collected into the Plort Market.
Well, all but one plort.
A couple of days ago, Pixie had spotted a Gold Slime, just hangin' around over by The Dry Reef. She'd quickly shot a Silver Turnip at it in hopes of a plort, and BAM! A gold plort, just for her! She was saving the gold plort, waiting for the price to go up. Pixie double checked that the plort was still in her Vac before heading off into The Dry Reef to explore a bit.
Pixie skipped through The Dry Reef, petting, playing with, and feeding Pink Slimes as she went. Once she even encountered a Philosopher, bounding around in the early morning before it faded away to wherever Philosopher Slimes went during the day. Pixie strolled through the path, walking even deeper into The Dry Reef than her mother would probably allow. Pixie shrugged off the thought. She didn't care if she got in trouble. All Pixie really wanted was to explore and hang out with the slimes, maybe even someday discover new lands like her mother had done
After a while, Pixie got tired and settled for some water. She sat down on the ground next to a water spout and filled her Vac up with water, and then cupped some in her dirty hands and took a sip. It tasted fresh, cool, and relaxing. Then she noticed some of the slimes looking up at her with big, cute, begging eyes. Pixie sighed. How could she resist these cuties? She poured a little water into each of their mouths and patted them on the heads (wait, did they even have heads?), giggling at their stubborn cuteness.
Pixie stood up and kept exploring, shooting water from her Vac at slimes as she went. Pixie had walked this path almost everyday of her life, but she never got tired of the cheerful and cute slimes, the many delicious varieties of food, and just the overall positivity and liveliness of it all. This was her home. She never wanted to leave.
Eventually, Pixie came to the end of The Dry Reef. She hopped onto the makeshift bench she had made the other day out of a dent in the cliff walls around her. A little Rock Slime bounced up onto her lap, cuddling her. Pixie laughed patted the slime's chubby little cheeks, making sure to avoid the top of the slime where the spikes were.
Suddenly, the slime's eyes went wide and turned pale (well, as pale as the blue slime could be). It dropped off her legs, not even trying to stop it's fall. Pixie gasped. She was about to help the slime when she saw it:
Tar. It was a Tar slime, the deadliest slime ever, standing right there in front of her! There must have been about three, but Pixie didn't have time to count. She tried to shoot water from her Vac, but she'd used it all to cool down the slimes. Darn. Why'd she have to be so nice?
Pixie watched in horror as more and more slimes were consumed, turning into Tar Slimes themselves. Pixie started sweating. Panic filled her throat. She couldn't yell for help, no one would hear her back at The Ranch. She spotted a bush and quickly dove behind it, just missing a Tar Slime. Both the entrance and the exit were blocked, so she had nowhere to go. Pretty soon, all the slimes in The Dry Reef would become Tars.
Pixie was overwhelmed. She had heard stories of people getting eaten and killed by Tar Slimes, but she never thought her nightmare would come true. Pixie didn't do very well in moments of panic, either. She cried and hiccuped, trying to steady her breathing. Unfortunately, it wasn't working.
Pixie put her head in her hands and tried to think. She could… run away? No, the exit and entrance were blocked by Tars. She could… jump into the Slime Sea? No, Pixie didn't know how to swim. She'd drown. She could… try to climb the cliff walls surrounding her? No, they were too tall and steep. Besides, Pixie had never tried to climb before. How'd she know she would even make it before slipping and falling to her death? She should've just stayed at The Ranch and followed her mother's directions.
Just when Pixie was about to lose hope, she heard a voice. Someone was yelling, a male, maybe.
"HEY, TAR! OVER HERE!" Pixie lifted her head. A boy jumped randomly out of nowhere and started shooting the Tar Slimes down with water from his Vac like a pro. Wait, what? Pixie had thought she was the only family to live on The Far, Far Range. The boy had crazy, scraggly, dark blue hair, deep green eyes, and lots of freckles. He was wearing a blue shirt to match his hair, and black trousers. After all the Tar Slimes were gone, he looked around, confused for a moment, and then he spotted Pixie.
He walked up to her bush and pushed the leaves and branches away, revealing Pixie. He smiled at her mischievously.
"Hi." He said, offering his hand. Pixie reluctantly took it and stepped out of the bush, brushing the dirt and leaves of her jeans. She pulled a twig out of her pink ponytail.
Author's Note: So there you have it, the first chapter! I'm not sure when the second one will come, but I'll try to post weekly. Tell me what you thought in a review!
