The ground felt too soft, the world too bright against his eyes…were Toga and Sako still alive? Were his friends fighting right now? Where had he been this whole time?
Lying in a sea of flowers, his eyes had struggled to open again, wondering where all this odd shine had come from, but Twice felt his sight finally become clear. He saw Magne looking at him happily, donning her signature red sunglasses, her plump lips curled in a welcoming smile. She said nothing.
Magne…she—his friend! She…was with him.
Twice knew he was meant to be filled with joy, on top of the world in fact, but his heart felt nothing but an indescribable nausea.
The memories of his friend's final moments came flooding back, as her limp remains fell to the ground in a shower of red, in a dismal and sickly room. A sickly room he had led him too.
"Big Sis…Magne—I'm sorry…so sorry."
"Twice."
"I couldn't protect you back there…you…it's 'cus of me, I—"
"Jin."
He hadn't even realised tears were freely spilling, and his lips trembled.
Wordlessly, his old friend opened her arms, bringing his body close to hers in a hug.
"Thanks for taking care of them for me."
