Domination: Volume Two

Episode One: Flight 100

Featuring the Ninth Doctor and Lauren Dunbar

Jaxobar Spaceport.

Captain Jarvis Wilson stared in shock at the alert flickering on the dashboard. The engine on shuttle 15K had malfunctioned slightly and the shuttle was supposed to depart in fifteen minutes.
"Captain, what do you want me to do? Should I call an engineer?" the pilot asked, nervous.
Jarvis thought for a few moments and then knew what to do.
"No. We should be fine for one more flight. I'll go and welcome the passengers." Jarvis answered, walking out of the cockpit and leaving the pilot very stressed.

Elsewhere, in the departures lounge, a tall blue police box had materialised. Inside that police box, a youngish man wearing a battered leather jacket studied the instruments on the TARDIS console and looked up at his assistant.
"Are you sure she's here?" Lauren asked, referring to how the Doctor's old companion, Rose, had been kidnapped and how the Doctor had detected a trace of Rose at Jaxobar Spaceport.
"Positively sure. The TARDIS takes biological traces of all the passengers who've been inside it and, without a doubt, the old girl says Rose is here." the Doctor said, with his northern accent, running to the doors, "Come on, let's see who's knocking about."
"I don't think she's here." Lauren muttered, following the Doctor out of the TARDIS.

They stepped out into the departure lounge and Lauren instantly thought it looked exactly the same as Heathrow Airport. There were rows and rows of leather seats, as well as several futuristic vending machines scattered around the place. The Doctor had taken out his sonic screwdriver and had begun to scan the local area for signs of Rose. Lauren didn't join him, however, as she noticed a captain nearby who looked like he was hiding something.
"Excuse me, where does this flight go to?" she asked him, hoping he'd give up the information that was making him conceal his fear.
"Uva Beta Uva. Have you bought a ticket?" he queried, authoritatively.
"No, but have you seen a young blonde in the last few months? Her name's Rose, if that helps?"
"I remember someone called Rose arriving a few days ago." the Captain remembered, "But she stole one of our shuttles and set off to find someone called the Doctor."
Lauren glanced back at the Doctor and ran over to him, eager to tell him the information she had gathered.

Onboard flight 100, the passengers were beginning to get into their seats and settle down, ready for the flight ahead. Flight 100 was scheduled to be on shuttle 15K and the pilot stared at the passengers, knowing that they were doomed.
"Get in the cockpit, pilot." Captain Wilson instructed, "I'll take care of the passengers. That's my job."
"Sir, shouldn't we warn them?" the pilot wondered, "They're going to die."
"We don't want a panic. It would be bad for the business."

Lauren had now found the Doctor and had told him everything she had learnt from the Captain.
"Oh no," the Doctor said afterwards, "seems like the old girl was a few days out. Rose could be anywhere and we need to find her."
"Yeah. But I think there's something going on here." Lauren said, pointing at the Captain, "Don't you think he's hiding something?"
The Doctor noticed the slight twinge of fear on the Captain's face and realised what Lauren was on about.
"Alright then, we'll investigate. When we're done, we get back to finding Rose though. The longer we spend searching for her, the more worried I get for her. Come on."
They then strolled over to the Captain and the Doctor took out his psychic paper, making it look like a first class ticket to the Captain.
"Hello, I'm the Doctor and this is Lauren. We've bought a last minute ticket for this flight." the Doctor said with a cheery grin.
"Okay then. Come this way please." the Captain said, leading them into the shuttle.

The Captain showed them to their seats in the front row and the Doctor and Lauren sat down, settling in quickly.
"Well then this is comfy." the Doctor said, grinning, "I wonder when the buffet tray's coming round?"
"I have a bad feeling about this." Lauren said, glancing around, "Something's going to go wrong. I know it is."

The shuttle departed and, for a few moments, everything seemed to be fine. The announcement going through the safety procedures played and everyone relaxed into their seats. But then the vibrations from the engine stopped, and everything went silent.
"That's not supposed to happen." the Doctor said, noticing the silence. He undid his seatbelt and headed to the cockpit, unlocking the door with his sonic screwdriver and noticing the terrified pilot.
"The engine's stopped." the pilot said to him, "I don't know what to do. We're just drifting through space."
"Now that's not good. Let me see." the Doctor asked, examining the instruments on the control console and zapping a few with his sonic screwdriver.
"Excuse me, Doctor, what are you doing here?" Captain Wilson demanded, "Get back in your seat now!"
"What, when the engine's dead? Not a chance. If you want to get out of this alive Captain, you need to trust me and my companion, Lauren." the Doctor replied, indicating Lauren, who was stood behind the Captain, waving.
"Captain, the Doctor is the best man I know. If there's something wrong, he'll solve it." Lauren said, "Just let us do our work."

The shuttle had started to fall towards a small planet and was increasing in speed. The Doctor and Lauren were alone in the cockpit, trying to regain power onboard.
"Have you done anything like this before?" Lauren asked the Doctor, having plonked herself in the pilot's seat.
"Not often. I once saved the Wright Brothers from a giant squid by piloting one of their planes right into the squid's brain." the Doctor claimed, sonicking two wires together before flicking several switches and yanking a lever backwards and muttering, "No not that one."
"Why don't you just the TARDIS?"
"Yeah but it's not onboard. Unless..."
A thought suddenly occurred to the Doctor and he grinned at Lauren, hugging her.
"Oh, fantastic!" he cried, heading into the main cabin and activating his sonic screwdriver.

In a matter of moments, the TARDIS materialised and the Doctor rushed inside, leaving one of the doors open. He took out one of the floor panels and took out a long cable, connecting one end to the console. He then ran out of the TARDIS and connected the cable to the control console of the shuttle. All of the lights flashed into life and the Doctor pulled the y-shaped joystick upwards, making the shuttle land smoothly.

Having landed safely and gone through the interview process, the Doctor and Lauren stood outside the TARDIS, which had been moved to the shuttle runway so that investigators from the Redgrove Foundation could examine the ship. The two travellers watched Captain Wilson being taken into a police hovercar, knowing that they had done the right thing.
"So, back to the quest for Rose then?" Lauren asked the Doctor.
"Yeah." he replied, entering the console room with her. The doors closed and, in a few moments, the TARDIS dematerialised, taking the travellers to new worlds and times.
