Greetings dear readers. The host of the bad fanfics would like to introduce you his third ( Not so ) epic ( or original in particular ) tale.

Like with all of my previous fics, first I want to warn you. First thing first, I'm not a native speaker. My english is far from perfect so a few thing may sound silly or won't make sense at all. Secondly, My grammar is horrendous and my vocabulary is far from as rich as a native speaker's.

These issues might stop many of you from enjoying this fanfic. If you are such person, I would advise you to don't start reading because most likely you will leave with a bad taste in your mouth. I would loath to waste any of your time. If you still proceed with reading, keep your expectations low.

Now that you warned, a few thing you better know about my story.

- The protag isn't the paleblood hunter so he will be noticably weaker than the mc of the game. ( Seriously. If I drop an endgame hunter in the mgq world that would be too op. In the early parts at least. )
- Luka is only fifteen years old here so there won't be any lemon or things like that.
- On the other hand, at some point, the story could get realy violent. ( Not all the time thoug and I try to justify it to avoid my story becoming an edgy shitfest. )
- Despite the previous point, I try to write something wholesome. ( Not something you would expect from a Bloodborne crossover I know. )
- And most importantly, The plot will mostly follow Monster Girl Quest original with one or two smaller and maybe one major detour. ( My final decision regarding the later one is not set in stone. )

With that, I write down everything you have to know. I hope you will enjoy the ride.

Chapter 1: Into a different kind of hell

Sometimes, I wonder how long I have been marching in the streets of this wretched city. Always seeking for new preys to hunt down. Why did I went to Yharnam? I don't remember. I forgot everything after a I recieved the blood transfusion. Who I was? Where do I hail? Who were dear to me? Even my own name is a mistery.

I become a plain blank, a tabula rasa. The firs thing I remember is that I'm in a barrack? I'm not sure anymore. Anyway, that was the place where I got my trusty weapon, a large and heavy axe with a thick and robust head. The steel it was made of is of a high quality. Ony the gods know how long I have been using it, and yet, still as sharp when I first grasped it. Needless to say, such a weapon carries devastating force behind each strike. With the additional extending handle, it has both great destructive power and versatility.

But the the Hunter Axe wasn't the only thing I got back then. The same attire that I'm wering to this day was also ended up in my possesion on that night. The entire set consist of a thick, brown, leather, trench coat, a tricorne hat, boots, gloves and trousers of the same colour and material. While it didn't offer much protection against the beasts, sometime there is only a thin line between life and death. I experienced it in first hand. And that thin line was this very attire.

After I finished gearing up, I was told to kill a few beast, I signed 'The Hunter's Hontract' after all. Since then It was the only thing I done. Walk down the streets, find beasts, kill them, rinse and repeat. The strangest thing is that sometimes it feels like I'm doing this for hours. Sometimes it feel like months. And there are times when I feel like I spent half of eternity wandering around this cursed place. Other than a few fellow hunters, I hardly met with people. Well, I tried in a few occasion, but it seems like the yharnamites are just as hostile as the beasts itself.

What is it? Suddenly the stench of something I never smelled before hits me with as much force as a brick troll. Curious, I start to follow the trail of foul odour. It leads me to the entrance of a tunnel that is under a bridge. Inside there is so dark that I must light a torch. With a source of light, I'm able to see my surroundings. This gives me enough confidence to keep on walking forward. As I'm progressing, the stench gets stronger and stronger with each steps I make. In the distance I starting to see a large silhouette. Though I don't know what exacty it is, I become discouraged. This tunnel is too tight for me to make precise manouvers. My options are too limited to face the upcoming danger. If the thing decides to charge, I won't be able to dodge. I must retreat.

However as I'm about to turn back, I hear an earpiercing squeal. Like if it was made by a pig. God damn it! It noticed me. Okay, if I want to make it out alive I have to keep my calm. First, what options i have left? Well, the tunnel is too long for me to reach the exit before the beast. Next... Come on! Use that brain of yours! It's up to that grey lump wheter I live or die. Merely on insrtict, I start to run in the direction of the beast. As I'm getting closer, I realise that actualy it is an enormous swine. Thoug the realisation don't make the creature's presence less terrifying. Not at all.

Luckyly, I was fast enough to slip past it before it rammed me. Not wasting my precisious time, I make a large gash on the pig's side. As a result, it shrieks in agony. Enraged, it tries to swipe with its' head at my direction. I jump back, and transform my axe into a halbeard then slam it down onto the beast's head. Still not enough to take it down, I dash to the overgrown swines rear and swing my weapon with as much force as I'm able to muster. This time my foe is on the ground. Again on instricts, I trust my hand into the beast's flesh. To my surprise I was able to penetrate its' skin with ease. Then I grab it's guts and rip it out. At first glance it seems like this got the job done. Though it would be preferable to make sure that I killed it. After the corpse is inspected, I declare that it is indeed dead.

The end of the tunnel is only a few metres away. As I left, I met with a high brick wall. Fortunately there is a ladder so I can climb up. It took me at least five minutes to reach the top. There I notice several more beasts. The closest to me are a brick troll and a transformed yharnamite with a large ball made of wood. It was soaked in oil too. Behind them an angry mob is barricading a the bridge, The two wouldn't be much problem to deal with, however the mob would surely outnumber me. Perhaps I could take advantage of that ball. Yes.

I decide to approach them carefully. Before they can realise it, I'm at their back. Trying to pull of the same with the brick troll what I did with the swine, I ready my axe and gather my strenght. Upon collision my next foe collapsed. In a blink of an eye my hand is trough the skin and grasping the massive backbone of the beast. With a powerful pull, I remowe it, killing the troll. His shocked companion swings with his torch on reflex. It happens to be my lucky day, for the ball ignites and starts to roll down the bridge, sending the mob to the otherworld.

With my bloody job done, I continue my patrol around Yharnam. As I'm nearing to a cemetery, I notice two more beast in the corner. They seem more malformed than what I have seen so far. Each of them holding sharp, metal spikes. Comfronting them would be equal to suicide. It will be better if I sneak past them.

With careful steps, I make my move, their attention is elswhere so I start walking faster. It surprises me how smootly I reach the cemetery gate. Not a single complication arise. In the unfamiliar place, the sight of an unfamiliar hunter greets me. Black clothes, black fedora, bandages around the eyes, necklenght silver hair and beard, and wielding a Hunter Axe, just like myself.

We start to size each other up first. I'm about to greet him but he attacks without warning. A step to the right was enough to evade the mad hunter's assault, albeit barely. He is far faster thatn any foe I fought. Most likely stronger too. The giant of a man smashed the tombstones to tiny little pieces effortlessly. At this point, I'm not sure if wether I survive or not, but never will without trying.

My train of thought is stopped as he readies his blunderbuss. I seek shelter from the projectiles behind a tombstone. The hunter follows up with a lunge. The force behind the strike was so great that the axe was planted in the ground. It leaves me unough room to bring my weapon down on him. The steel cuts deep, yet he isn't bothered, not even a flinch. The last thing I see is an axe flying in te direction of my neck at a blinding speed...

...then darkness.

" The next thing you will ask is: Where am I? " Says someone I don't know who. There is only darkness.

" Where am I? What? " I ask in confusion. While I hear the voice I'm unable to respond. There is so much happening under a time so short. It is too much to handle.

" Looks like your mind is too weak to comperhend my true form. " A person materialises before me. He has swept back, neck lenght, black hair, heavily tanned skin and brown eyes. Strangely enough, what he chose to wear black leather shoes, black trousers, a white shirt and a smoking jacket. " How about someone familiar? It would be strange talking to a formless voice after all. Not like the situation isn't absurd enough as it is. At least for you of course. "

" Someone familiar? Who? "

" You dont know? "

I only shake my head.

" Well. It's only amatter of time till you find out. Can't wait to see your face when you come to undersanding the punchline. But let's keep that to the future. I'm not here to spoonfed your whole life to you. That would take too long. Rather I'm here to make an offer. "

" An offer? I don't even know who you are. "

" If a name is what you need, you may call me Odeon. So, about the offer. I don't knof if you realised, but you are dead. Become shorter by a head if you know what I mean. "

" Figured as much... Still, it's hard to believe. Is this hell? "

" No. I don't believe in hell and heaven anyway. By the way, do you enjoy it here? "

" No. Absolutely not. "

" Well, luckily for you, you don't have to be stay here much longer. Though where you will end up is depends on you. "

" Can you stop speaking in riddles? Please. For my sanity's sake. "

" Okay. To get to the point. Now that you are no longer in the ranks of the living, you either end up in the Hunter's Nightmare. Before you ask! It's like what you would imagine hell would be like. Or you accept my offer and basicaly get a second chance. Not free of charge of course. "

" Honestly. I expected that there will be a catch. And I feel like that I hardly have any choice in the matter. "

" No, you free to pick your poison. Though you have to be a fool to chose the Nightmare over the sweet extra life. "

" Tell me more about your so called 'sweet extra life' then. My attention is yours. "

" If you are so eager. First thing first, are you familiar with the theory of pararel words existing next to each other? "

" No? "

" Then I don't bother. What you need to know is that I will take you to a new place. All you have to do is kill someone called Ilias. Will you do it for me. "

" It sound nice. BUT there is one thing I fail to understand. You seem far more powerful than me. If you could get rid of this 'Ilias' yourself why need me? "

" Don't get me wrong. It's not beyond me. The thing is however, that whenever a being such as I makes contact with a civilisation, it ends up as a disaster. The madness that is happening in Yharnam is one of my kins doing. "

" I see. "

" Then you understand why I prefer not to solve the problem myself for lack of better words. Can I count on you? "

" Not so fast! Why do you think your target is a threat? "

" Well, She is considered as a goddess in her world. If she would discover my kind's existence... It would be bothersome. "

" And do you expect me to kill a god. "

" I know you can kill a god. Believe it or not, there were hunters long before you were born who were even capable much more. Those hunters were once just like you. "

" I'm sure that you only saying this to accept your damn offer, but I'm in regardless. "

" Delightful! Good luck on your journey. I hope it will pay off. "

After the being left, the everpresent darkness become my sole companion once again. As the time is passing I feel my consciousness is slipping away and I'm becoming numb. Unable to connect to the world outside my head I fall into a deep slumber.

It was an average saturday morning for Luka. Wake up, have breakfast then do the washing up. With the previous two already done, he was walking to the nearby river to wash his clothes. Since he didn't have much clothes, the shorta always finished quickly. Today was different. For when he reached the riverside, he found a person laying unconscious. Like if he was washed away by the water.

The kindhearted fellow he was, Luka ran to the man's help. The first thing he cheked was his heart. Thankfully it didn't stop. Morover his breathing was alright as well. Next, he started inspecting the mysterious stranger in greater detail. He had swept back, neck lenght, black hair, heavily tanned skin and brown eyes. He wore a reinforced leather trench coat, trousers, gloves and boots. All of them in the same colour. Next to him was a leather piece resembling a hat. Though it was destroyed beyond repair. Moreover, the individual was armed with a gigantic axe, strapped to his wasist. Other than that, he seemed to have a large build. ( Even though most people was considered large compared to Luka.) The man was at least 188 cm (6.2 ft) tall with broad shoulders and thin waist.

Carrying him back to his home wasn't a small task. The whole process taking him a good 50 minutes if not more. It would took him even more time if it weren't for some helpful villagers. For their deed the soon to be hero was grateful. Since the man seemed fine other than being out cold, he was put on the floor for Luka's bed seemed too small for him.

He laid there for the past two days. During that time, Luka washed his clothes and inspected his weapon closer. Though, lifting the enormous axe was proven to be beyond the shorta's capabilityes. Thanks to his lack of strenght, Luka left it on the floor. It had a design he never seen nor read about before. As he tampered further with the weapon, he started to doubt that the wielder could use it effectively and came to the conclusion that it was more like to scare away bandits and monsters. At least till he accidentaly activated the mechanic that extended the handle. It surpised the shorta greatly. After that incident he chose to not touch the stranger's belongings ever again.

On the third day, when Luka was about to leave his house, he noticed that his 'guest' started moving. Minutes later, his eyes slowly opened too.

As I open my eyes I find myself in a house. It's poorly equipped I have to say. Like if it's from the medieval times. But more importantly, Is it daytime? Could Odeon kept his end of the bargain? I need to look around to be sure. Yes, the source of the light is the sun itself. I'm so used to the dark that it's actualy hurts my eyes. Now about the house: simple, wooden walls. Nothing special. A rather small bed. Yeah I can see why I am on the floor. And last but not least, a kid with purple hair.

Wait! Kid with purple hair? Not sure if I seeing thing wrong since I'm still hazy. " Oh. You are awake. " He says. Guess I don't have much time to think about it.

I'm staring at him awkwardly. After putting my thoughts together I finaly decide to speak. " Looks like. So, where am I? "

" You are in Ilias Village. Two days ago I found you at the river. I brought you to my home. "

Seems like this Illias is rather popular amongst the folks here. Better keeping that in mind. " That explains it. Thank you. You could left me there though. "

" Why would I do that? "

" Mainly because I'm a complete stranger, and a well armed one at that. Speaking of which. Where are my stuff? " I start to panic as the realisation hits me that my attire and weapon isn't besides me. Frantically, I scan the entire room.

But before I can dwell further in the matter, the young man reasurres me. " Oh that? Your clothes were diry so I cleaned them for you. Your axe is in another room. " After a short pause he continues. " I have to ask. Can you use that thing? It seems unwieldy to me. "

" I can perfectly use it. "

" Oh! Then you must be a hero. "

" Hero? " I start laughing loudly. So loudly that it surprised even myself. At least my journey in this new world starts with a good taste in my mouth. " That was a good one. " I say as my laughter dies down. " You can say I'm the exact opposite of what a hero is. " Seems like my outburst made the boy confused. Trying to bring the topic elswhere, I put my hand on his shoulder. " Are you admire those knights in shining armour that much? " It goes rather smoothly. I have to say I'm brilliant. Yes, it's a lie!

" Of course. I always admired the stories mother told me about heroes when I was young. Since then I always dreamt of being a hero. " He seemed pretty serious as he told me what I expected he will told me. There was a gleam in his eyes. Well. One day he will grow up too.

" Good luck with that. Where is your mother by the way? "

His mood darkens. Foreshadowing that something bad happened with her. This is not my day. " She died years ago. "

" I'm sorry to hear. Wait a minute! who is looking after you then? "

" No one in particular. But I'm fine on my own. "

" That's actualy prety impressive. How old are you again? "

" I'm fifteen. "

" Fifteen? Damn! You look younger. Unbelievably so. "

" Yeah... Many told me before. "

As pleasant is having small talk with him, I have to cut it short. There are some information that acquiring is essential to complete my quest. But first! " What is your name kid? "

" I am Luka. " he says as he offers a handshake. " And who you are? "

My name? As I'm about to make up one. " Garth. My name is Garth Splinter. " Suddenly I blurt out what may be my true name while I accept his handshake. It feels strange comming out of my mouth. Surreal even. Well, Odeon told me that getting my memories back is bound to happen. Now at least I'm closer to know who I was. I start musing. However I have to remind myself that there are more important things right now. " So luka, tell me more about this Ilias village. Will ya? "

" Of course. It lies to the south in Ilias continent. Though not being larger than other nearby villages, this place is special. You can find here the Ilias temple where aspiring heroes are baptised. "

So heroes can't be mentioned in the same page as your average mercenary. And aperrently the goddess have something to do with this 'baptising' thing. " What is baptising? " I ask.

" I'm glad you asked. On her birthday Ilias descends from heaven and gives her blessing to people, making them offical heroes. Needless to say, it all happens here, at the temple. For that, people flood the village every year. "

Interesting. I hope that this baptising will happen soon. Maybe that will offer a good opportunity to meet whit the goddess in person. " Out of curiosity, can I ask when will the next one will happen? Now that you mentioned it I became eager to see such an event with my two eyes. It's not every day when a mortal can meet with a real divine being. "

" Oh, you're lucky then. The next will take place two weeks later. "

" Wonderful! " Still too much time for my liking though.

With that it looks like we ran out of topics. And so we started to stare each other for a while in silence. Thankfuly the shorta decided to break the ice because it started to get rather awkward. " So, I have to ask, how did you ended up laying at the river? "

" Uuuh... You got me. To tell you the truth, I don't have a single clue. " Well, I was told that playing the amnesia card can get you out of tight situations like 80% of the cases. Besides, I actualy have severe memory loss. " Truth is, the only thing I remember is being knocked out by someone twice my size. " I said. Hoping he will believe my tale.

" I'm sorry to hear that. "

Heavens! He's buying it. " Yeah. I hope I will never cross my way with the feller any time soon. "

" You know it's hard to imagine a human twice as tall as you. I mean you are pretty tall yourself. "

" I would prefer not to dwell on the matter anymore. "

" Understandable. " Said luka as he started scratching the back of his head. " Umm, and what now? Are you remember a place resembling your home? "

" No. Certainly not. I have a feeling that I was always on the go anyway. "

" Then would you mind helping me train. I too intend to become a hero. If I remember correctly, you said you was good with that axe. "

Already figured that you can't wait to get baptised or what. Though you seem like a good feller. I don't want you to get killed while you playing the white knight. " Sure, not like I have anything better to do and I guess it's only fair repaying your kindness. "

Luka so far seemeds like a cheerful fellow. But now it goes even further beyond than that. Is he started sparkling?

" Thank you Garth! I can't put it to words how grateful I am right now. "

I'm glad I chose to stay with Luka because the way he fights is a disaster. If it can be called fighting at all. I also realised another thing about myself. That would be the fact that I'm a horrible teacher. Nor do I like teaching. In fact, I hate it. On the bright side, if there is one, at least my own weakneses are revealing befor me.

Right now he is swinging his sword, trying to hit me with it. I step to the right and he for unknown reasons fell to the ground.

" Hey Luka! Are you allright. " Gods! That sword could impaled him.

" Yes. I'm completely fine. "

" You know what? Put that thing down. We should practice with sticks instead from this moment. "

" Sorry. " He looks down.

" Don't be sorry, be better. But fret not! With my help, the chances are high that you will be at least able to defend yourself. " I hope.

" Yes sir! "

6 more hours practicing and now he is able to cut with his blade effectively. For him it's a great leap forward, and the proof that I'm not a completely helpless teacher as well.

" Okay. This will be enough for today. Overworking yourself will do more harm than good. " I declare.

" Understood. I go and make lunch. "

The next few days went in a similar manner. Phisically I deemed him fit enough. No surprise since he regularly do excercises that improves both his physique and stamina. I also noticed that albeit having small frame, Luka is an extraordinarily well runner. Compared to a human that is. I wouldn't give him a hour in Yharnam before he meets his tragic end. But we are not in that damned place so dwelling in it is unnecesary, even foolish.

After finishing with training, we went to clean ourselves. Needless to say after several hours of intense training we are reeking terribly. Done with bathing the time has come to eat something. As we are sitting at the table, Luka turns to me.

" Hey Garth, what do you think about monsters? " He asks.

" What monsters? "

" Oh. I forgot you have amnesia. "

With that, he started to explain what monsters are, the relationship between their kind and humans, and also mentioned that the goddess wasn't fond of of them. Though most of them went in one ear and out of the other as I couldn't get over how stupid that sounded. Like for some reason all of them were female and they were raping humans? What is this nonsense? I start to think that either Luka or Odeon is joking with me.

" If what you say is true then it would be the best to obilerate them once and for all. " Well, I am a hunter. Of course i will chose a violent method.

" Wait. Not all of them is like that. "

" Then kill off the bad ones? "

" I think It would be better to change their mind. "

" Then why do you want to be a hero in the first place? And I don't think Ilias will like your idea. "

He wanted to say something but ultimately stayed silent.

" Why do you want to aproach the matter peacefully? " I ask. Breaking the silence.

" If you think about it, there is a lot we have in common with monsters. I don't want to be in conflict with them so I decided that I will achieve peaceful coexistence between the two sides. "

" How? "

" I think everyone have a good side. If I make them realise that they are not as bad as they seem then maybe I can succeed. "

" Have you ever seen a monster before? "

" Uhm no... But what mother told me must be true. " I start to think his mom was delusinal. But again, I'm lacking the insight to see into the matter better. So who knows?

" If you think you can reason with them, then go for it. Just don't get yourself killed. "

" Thanks. And please, I would be grateful if this stays between us. The other villagers don't like monsters so much. "

" My mouth is shut. "

In the several passing days, we kept on training. The progress the little man made under such a short time is astounding. Right now, we are in the middle of a duel. I once again let him use his sword which he used with proficiency. While havaing a good techiqe, he lacked the speed and strenght to match me. Still, I have to say he is pretty impressive. If we weren't training, he was introducing the willage to me. It was a nice and cozy little place. The people were nice, the exact opposite of the Yharnamites. Last we visited the Ilias temple itself. After what the hellhole that Yharnam was, I have to say I enjoyed this calm and stressfree lifestyle.

Those days while short, were sweet. But it is time, the day of the baptising has come. That meant that I have to start hunting. I woke up early to be the first who meet the goddess. Luka is still sleeping. as Before I take my leave, I leave a note so that he will know I'm at the temple. When I enter the streets, I have to realise that unlike what Luka said there isn't much adventurers flooding the village. Instead of an army of aventurers, only I heading toward the sacred place. When I arrive, I see just a few gathering.

After waiting many hours filled with boredom, A loud noise can be heard. Like simething hit the ground with great force. Then more time is spent with waiting I also started wondering where is Luka. Other than that, nothing happened. Finaly a priest exits the temple.

" Is something wrong? " I ask.

" Ilias should be already here. "

" How late she is exactly? "

" Several hours. "

" Then something is definetily wrong. "

" I'm afraid yes. There is only five minutes till noon. She alway baptising man till that time. "

" I suppose It won't be wrong assuming that she won't show up. Or am I wrong? "

" I sadly have to say that your assumption is correct. "

Looks like there is no point bothering any more. I was about to leave when Luka arrived. " You look like you're about to die. What happened to you? "

" Well, I was about to go here when I heard people screaming. It happened to be a monster is lurking in the village. As someone who wants to be a hero, I went to drive off the monster. It was a slime girl. I have to say she was a persistent one, but I made a short work of her. "

" Then what took you so long? "

" Yeah... About that. I'm sure you heard that loud crash. It was a monster. For some reason she fell from the sky while she was flying. After she woke up, we were talking a little bit. She was rather rude. First she was mocking my goal, then called me a child. Eventualy I had enough and left. "

" At least she let you get away. "

" Not like it matters any more. I am still late from the baptising. "

" If it makes you feel better, Ilias didn't show up at all. "

" Unbelievable! Something serious must happened. "

" And what now? " I'm looking at him. Soon, I have to take my leave in one way or another.

" Even though I'm not an offical hero, I leave Ilias village regardless. You can live in my house the time being. "

" There is no need to. There are things I have to take care of myself. Say, would you mind joining you till I get familiar with the world once again. "

" No! I don't mind. Honestly I would be glad if you come along. But before we go, I have to pick up few thigs at home. "

" Take your time. "

And so, we arrive to Luka's house to make the final preparations for the departure. As we step in the very building, I start to feel uneasy. Wary to my surroundings i put a hand on my companion's shoulder. " Be careful. Something is not right. " I whisper quietly.

At first the shorta just staring at me dumbly. Before he could ask why, we hear a voice. Clearly femine. " Took you long enough. " Suddenly, a monster appears. Down till her waist, her form is humanlike aside from the purple skin and a pair of horns. But her lower body is of a snake's with red scales. I have to mention that her hair seems strange too. Not because of it's silver colour, but for the red symbol that resembles an eye.

I see her eyes fixating on me. " Who are you? " She asks with clear surprise.

Well. It ended with a cliffhanger. If I can say it can be regarded as one. I think it will be for the best if the chapter ends here. It already ended up longer than I thought will with 5 k words. I promise that the next one will greatly stray from the original material. With that, I say goodbye.
