"Good morning Chise," said Ruth, padding inside the room.

"Morning Ruth," said Chise, stretching from her spot on her shared bed. "I'm guessing Elias is already downstairs?"

"Yes, he left not too long ago," Ruth said, transforming and grabbing some blue pants and a green shirt. "I'll meet you down there."

Chise quickly got dressed, heading down to the kitchen for breakfast. Ruth was already shoveling food into his mouth. Elias' plate was empty with trace remains of food. The young mage ate her food, drinking some tea every now and then. Elias stared at his wife, taking in every feature.

He had almost lost her when she had turned eighteen. By some miracle, he was able to help control the magic input and saved her life. Shortly after that, they got married by Simon in their garden since Chise was too fragile at the time. Now the nineteen-year-old woman was gaining health, slowly but surely.

"Is something wrong Elias?" Chise asked.

"No. I'm just admiring you," said Elias.

"Okay, well I'm off to the garden to study my books. I'll be back in a little bit," Chise said, getting up and heading out the door.

Chise sat down on the bench near the roses, opening up the book she brought along. A salamander sat down on her lap, looking at the book with curiosity, tilting its head at the words.

"Sometimes snow bugs can be used for reducing fevers," Chise read. She was unaware of the coming danger to her until it was too late.

She didn't even scream before utter darkness took over her mind.

Silver Lady made some tea just before lunch, pouring a cup for Elias, who sat in his seat in the front room. Ruth laid on the couch, heading between his paws as he waited for Chise to return. He would have joined her, but he felt that she wanted some time to herself. Elias thanked Silver Lady for the tea, sipping away at the golden liquid.

Ruth looked up when lunch was brought to him. He eagerly scarfed it down, burping loudly in satisfaction. The familiar thanked the silky for the food.

"Did Chise get some?" Ruth asked. Silver Lady shook her head. "I'm guessing you couldn't find her?"

Silver nodded. Ruth sighed, knowing that Chise would sometimes hide away at the times to completely focus on her studying. She would show up in an hour or two when she got hungry. It usually took her about three to four hours to read before she felt satisfied for the day.

An hour passed and no sign of the sleigh beggy. Elias began to get worried, pacing around the living room with Ruth nearby. The Thorn mage began heading to the door when a flash of light in front of him halted any movements. Silver and Ruth stood on either side of the hybrid. A very familiar figure stood where the flash had originated from.

"Ashen Eye," Elias growled, feeling uneasy about what was coming.

"Son of Thorns, I come to give you a chance to find your wife," said Ashen Eye, a hint of amusement in his voice.

"What did you do to her?" Ruth demanded.

"Oh nothing much, I have simply hidden her away for a bit," said Ashen Eye. "You have one week to find her. If you fail to, then both she and the child are mine."

"Child?" the familiar asked.

"You didn't know? The sleigh beggy is pregnant, carrying the child of the Son of Shadows," Ashen Eye taunted.

"Pregnant?!" Elias gasped, his fear growing within his chest, heart pounding loudly against his ribs. Ruth and Silver were also shocked at the sudden news.

"I'll give you a hint. She has been to the place before. It won't be easy to find her, so I'll leave you to begin your search," said Ashen Eye. "Farewell Thorn and good luck."

Elias couldn't physically cry, but he did so on the inside. A sad whine came out of his voice box. How could he have been so foolish to leave his wife alone? How come he or Ruth couldn't sense her in danger? Why Chise specifically for these sick games?

"Where should we start?" Ruth asked, looking up at the tall halfling. "I can't tell where she is at, but it is slightly cold."

"The dragon Aerie is my first thoughts," said Elias. "Maybe Lindel can sense if she is there. Silver, stay here just in case she finds her way home. Ruth come with me."

The mage grabbed the familiar and teleported away to Iceland to find his friend living there, and possibly his young wife. The keeper was surprised to see his former apprentice with worry radiating from his eyes.

"Lindel, have you sensed if Chise is here?" Elias frantically asked.

"No, I haven't, nor have I sensed anything out of the ordinary. Why?" Lindel asked.

"Ashen Eye has hid her somewhere. He said she is in a place she's been before," said Elias quickly. "I only have a week to find her, or else she and the child she carries is taken from me."

"I will help look Elias. Go look anywhere else she may be. I will send word if I find her," said Lindel.

"Thank you so much," said Elias.

"It is no problem at all my child," said Lindel.

The two disappeared yet again. Lindel looked up to the sky, trying to think where she may be. There were a lot of places Ashen Eye could have chosen. And with the apprentice being pregnant, there can be a risk to the child growing.

"I hope we find you soon Chise. I won't give up and neither will Ruth or Elias. They care too much about you to allow anything horrible to happen to you," Lindel spoke softly into the air. "I promise you will return home safe and sound. I pray that you are somewhere safe until Elias comes for you. Even if I cannot leave, I will help in anyway I can."

Elias transformed into his beast form and ran off, looking through the forests and fields in the countryside outside of London. He searched all that he could remember Chise being at in the past. There continued to be no sign of the nineteen-year-old woman. Ruth tried their bond but it became blocked off the instant he tried to contact her.

Six days went by and the bird mage still hasn't been rescued. Time was running out quickly. Elias collapsed near the front door, completely exhausted. He only has three hours left before he lost his wife and unborn child. An idea came to mind. He had done it once before with Ashen Eye's game and he hoped it worked now.

The mage retrieved some spruce branches and tied a red strong around them with a rock attached. Taking a deep breath to calm himself, Elias looked to the bundle in his hand.

"Take me to my wife and the baby she now carries," he said.

The bundle floated up and headed off into the forest north of the house. The half-Fae ran after it, completely relieved that his idea worked. In the middle of the pond where he gained control over his transformation again with Chise. She slept soundly as if nothing had happened. Ruth trodded up next to him, smiling at the fact they had won.

"Well done Son of Shadows. You have won the game. I shall leave you two alone. Thank you for such an entertaining time," said Ashen Eye before disappearing again.

Ruth went out and brought Chise to land, who was now waking up. The black dog turned human and scowled at his partner.

"Don't you ever scare us like that again. Our bond was blocked or else I would have found you sooner," Ruth scolded.

"So Ashen Eye was playing his games again, eh?" Chise asked. "Sorry for keeping you guys so worried. He put a sleep spell on me. I didn't realize he was there until it was too late. How long have I been out?"

"Almost a full week," said Elias. He picked up his wife, one hand going to her stomach. "I am so glad you two are safe. I promise to keep you in my sight at all times. Why didn't you tell me that you are pregnant?"

"I suspected but didn't know for sure until Ashen Eye said something about waiting for the new mage child to show up," said Chise sheepishly.

"It doesn't matter now. Let's go home now, shall we?" said Elias, heading back through the forest. "I love you so much Chise."

"I love you too Elias," said Chise. They saw Silver Lady run up to them before they made it to the front door of the little house. The silky smiled happily. "Thanks Silver."

Oberon jumped out of nowhere, scaring the couple.

"It's about time!" Oberon exclaimed. "So is the child gonna be blonde?"

A/N: The end. Hope you enjoyed. I will hopefully be updating my other TAMB story too. Rereading the manga and taking notes. I forgot where I was taking the story XD.
