This is a story of my own creation however I do not own any of the characters!
Characters: Tom and Nicki (married) They have three children- Josh 14, Charlotte 11 and Florence 6
Tom and Nicki still both teach at WR- Josh and Charlotte are pupils there. Just a story about their lives had Tom and Nicki really been a thing! Rachel Lawson is the head- she is married to Eddie (deputy) and they have twin girls Grace and Esme age 14
Tom and Nicki Clarkson woke up on a dull grey Monday morning- Nicki turned to her husband and kissed him on the cheek "morning babe- time to go back to work, summer is over" "did you have to wake me, I was having a lovely dream and funnily enough it didn't include bottom set year nine" "come on Clarkson, get your bum in gear we have a busy term ahead" "suppose I had better shift then" Tom said with a grin. Just as he spoke, their youngest daughter came into the room teddy bear in hand wiping sleep from her eyes. "Mummy, its morning and I think it's time to go back to school" she said smiling "yes princess, it is are you looking forward to year 2" Nicki said scooping up their little one "yes mummy, I am looking forward to seeing everyone and meeting my new teacher" she said enthusiastically. Tom climbed out of bed, ruffling Florence's dark curly hair "I had better go and wake the other two, prepare for groans" Tom chuckled. Tom made his way down the hallway of their 4 bedroom house to their eldest sons room, he knocked "Josh mate, time to get up, first day of year 9 today let's get cracking" he then moved down the hallway to his daughters room unlike her brother, Charlotte was already up and was getting her school bag ready for her first day at Waterloo Road "morning dad" she said as she flung open the door, "morning love, you're already dressed?" Tom said with a surprise "yes dad, first day of big school come on times getting on" the excited 11-year-old said as she moved past her dad and went downstairs. "I hope this is what we will see every morning" Tom laughed. Eventually the entire Clarkson house was up, dressed and ready for their first days back at school and work.
After dropping Florence off at school, Tom, Nicki, Josh and Charlotte made their way into the carpark of waterloo road. "Josh can you show Charlotte where everything is today please, keep an eye out for her" Nicki said as Josh rolled his eyes at his mum- He had just read a text from Lauren Andrews who had been his girlfriend since year 7 and the last thing he wanted to do was show his little sister around school "yes mum" Josh groaned. "Charley do you know where you are going for form?" Tom said, "yes dad, you've only shown me like a million times, I'll be fine see you on the playground after school" Charlotte insisted. "okay, have a good day love" Tom and Nicki said together. "Right Mrs Clarkson let's get on with the term" Tom said kissing his wife before they both got out of the car and headed to the first staff meeting of the year.
Josh headed from the car, to see his girlfriend Lauren and his best friend Finn walking towards him "morning Joshie boy" Finn said enthusiastically as he walked towards his friend. "morning mate" "oh that's it, morning to Finn before me is it" Lauren teased grabbing Josh's hand. "morning babe" Josh said quickly, kissing her forehead. "everything ready for tonight" Josh said to Finn who had been planning a massive all-night drinking session at his house for months "yes, have you got your excuses lined up" Finn said speaking to his friends with a massive grin on his face. They both looked confident "yes, I have a headache, so I am going to bed- then pillows under the duvet and out of the bedroom window, over the back gate" Josh and Lauren practiced. "beautiful- it's going to be the party of the year, mark my words" Finn said. The three friends walked into Waterloo Road and with that the term could begin…
The morning passed by pretty slowly, Tom put three year 9s in detention, Nicki made year 7 run around the playground twice because they couldn't be quiet reading poetry. Rachel was in her office working when one of her daughters, Grace burst into the office in floods of tears. Rachel jumped up from her chair "Grace darling what's happened" she said as she wrapped her arms around her 14-year-old. "it's Jake mum, he's finished with me" the girl sobbed into her mum's chest. Just at that moment Eddie came into the office "hey hey what's all this" he said seeing his wife trying to comfort one of their daughters "boy trouble" Rachel mouthed "where is he, what has he done" Eddie said being the protective father that he was "he's finished with me, he said that he can't be in a relationship at the moment and he thinks we have drifted" Grace sobbed "but I love him Mum" "oh sweetie I know it hurts now but it will get better my love I promise" Rachel comforted her daughter.
Eddie could see Rachel had it under control so decided to leave them to it. No sooner had he left the office he saw his other daughter slamming the door of her maths classroom and attempting to run down the corridor only to run straight into Eddie "What's going on" Eddie said in a firm but concerned voice "I'm not going back in there, that teacher is a nutter" Esme protested "that's not what I asked kiddo, what happened" Eddie said slightly firmer than before looking his daughter in the eye. "She said I was talking and then she said I was not concentrating- but the stuff we are doing is well boring and she can't teach" Esme said. Eddie frowned "that is not a reason for storming out of the room young lady, were you talking?" Eddie asked Esme looked down at her feet which gave Eddie his answer. "right let's go" Eddie walked Esme back to the classroom and spoke to the teacher inside. It turns out there was quite a bit more to the story than Esme had let on, she had sworn at the teacher and thrown a chair. Eddie came out of the classroom with a face like thunder "mum's office NOW" Eddie said. Esme decided she had better not argue and walked quite quickly behind her dad. Eddie and Esme entered the office "sit there" he instructed as he knocked on Rachel's door. "come in" Rachel's voice came from inside; she had sent Grace back to her lesson after calming her down.
"What do you think you were doing" Rachel shouted after being filled in by Eddie "I'm sorry Mum, I know I shouldn't have but he was annoying me" Esme weakly said defending herself "that is not an excuse, you do not speak to people like that" Rachel said back quickly. "You are grounded for 2 weeks young lady" Eddie said "and you can have detention until the end of the week" Rachel added. After a long talk, Esme looked down "can I go now" she said "yes, behave yourself please" Rachel said. She sat down in her chair "no more drama's today please" she chuckled "we'll try" Eddie added.
The end of the day came fairly quickly after that and everyone was piling back into their cars and onto their bikes ready to end another day. "good day kids" Tom said to his eldest two children "yes, I met loads of new friends and got hardly any homework" said an excited Charlotte "yeah it was alright, got a bit of a headache though" Josh said trying to lay the foundations early. "all that thinking done your head in has it mate" Tom laughed. After picking Florence up from school the Clarkson's arrived home. "right uniforms off and homework please kids" Nicki said as they got into the house "Mummy can I read my book to you" Florence asked "yes darling of course you can" Nicki replied settling down with her youngest daughter on the sofa. After tea and a couple of hours later and Josh was almost ready to leave. He had made his excuses to go to bed early as the headache was still there and he wasn't feeling brilliant. Tom and Nicki said that it was ok, and they would check on him later. Josh clambered out of his bedroom window and onto the garage roof. He thought his dad had seen him at one point, so he stood very still in the darkness. When the coast was clear he ran down the street and made his way to Finn Sharkey's house. "okay Flo, bedtime" Tom said scooping up his youngest daughter and tickling her "but daddy I was playing" Florence responded protesting a little "play some more tomorrow, you're little and you need your sleep" Tom said leaning Florence towards Nicki and Charlotte to give them a kiss goodnight. "so you enjoyed school then Charley" Nicki asked when she was alone with her eldest daughter. "yeah, it was really good Mum" Charlotte replied sitting next to Nicki on the sofa. Nicki, Charlotte and Tom watched some T.V and chatted about the day till around 9:30 when Charlotte went up to bed. 11:30 Nicki and Tom decided to get up to bed "I'll just check on Josh" Nicki said. She walked towards his room and opened the door slowly; she went over to the bed to see if he was okay and had planned to put her hand on his forehead to make sure he didn't have a temperature. When she got there, she saw the pillows bunched up and shouted for Tom "Tom Tom quick Josh isn't in his bed" She said panicked. Tom ran in to see his wife panicking in the middle of the room "don't worry love, we'll find him" Tom said reassuring his wife and picking up his phone, he dialled Josh's number it went to voicemail.
Meanwhile at the party, Josh, Finn, Lauren and all of the other kids from Waterloo Road were having a great time. Josh was completely drunk having polished off half a bottle of vodka and some rum. Lauren wasn't far behind either, in fact they were all pretty drunk and falling about all over the place. Josh heard his phone ring, he picked it up and could just about see his Dad's name on the screen. He clicked it off and it went back into his pocket. Tom was still trying to frantically wonder where Josh could be "I'll jump in the car and go to Lauren's see if he is there" "Call me as soon as you know" Nicki said going back downstairs to the living room. Tom pulled on a jacket and jumped in the car, he first arrived at Lauren's house- Josh wasn't there but then neither was Lauren. Lauren's mum and dad were just about to leave when Tom arrived to see if Lauren was with Josh. "you stay here, I'm going to go to Finn's and see if they are there, I'll let you know" Tom reassured Lauren's parents who were beside themselves with worry.
Tom arrived at Finn's house, knowing exactly where it was after dropping Josh there so many times. Finn was a good friend to Josh but could also be a pretty bad influence at times. Tom could hear the music as he approached the door. The front door was wide open, he found where the music was coming from and pulled the plug. Most of the students had noticed him by now and were making their way out of the house "oi oi whats happened to the music" a very drunk Josh shouted and happened to walk right into his Dad. Josh froze and wasn't sure what to do, Tom grabbed him by the collar and pulled him towards the door "in the car" he said in a very stern tone of voice. "Lauren you're coming too, your parents are worried sick" Tom shouted, Lauren staggered towards the car. "everyone else, you have 10 seconds to leave before I ring the police" Tom shouted, and the house was clear in seconds. "sorry sir" Finn said holding onto the stairs "save it Sharkey, you need to work out how you are going to explain this mess to your parent's tomorrow" Tom said as he left the house and made his way towards the car. After dropping Lauren off, Tom and Josh arrived home. Josh staggered into the house to be greeted by a very worried Nicki. "living room NOW" Tom said sternly but Josh staggered and fell towards the stairs "is he" Nicki said, "oh yes, absolutely blotto" Tom said furiously "he was at a party at Finn Sharkey's along with half the school by the looks" he added. Tom and Nicki helped Josh back up and to his feet. Nicki took him into the bathroom and put his head under a cold tap…
