"Mother!" Elianna yelled at her mother who had a suitcase and was walking towards the door. "Where are you going?"

An arm wrapped around her shoulders and she looked up to see her father's face, who watched his wife leave the house with a stern face.

"Father, where is mother going?" Elianna glanced back to the yet open door, as her mother walked out into the front yard, towards the gate.

"She's leaving Elianna, she supposedly loves someone else, a half-blood, supposedly." With a wave of his wand, he closed the door, blocking the departing woman from view. "Elianna, I fear that you will need to stay here and watch over your siblings," he knelt down to look at her in the eyes, "my work is getting busier at the Ministry, and I do not have time to find someone to watch them or to remarry. Do not worry though, I will find you tutors to educate you. Education is very important…" he trailed off, giving a glance to the door once more, then receded up the stairs, returning to bed.

Elianna watched her father retreat, then ran to the door and opened it. Her mother had reached the gates, where the enchantments protecting their house ended and apparated. Gone. Her mother was now gone, leaving her to take the role, despite being only eleven. She had four siblings, the youngest being only two, and the oldest being eight.

Behind her, she heard a small 'pop' of one of the house-elves that her family kept. "Master told Pippa to bring the young mistress to bed," Pippa spoke in a squeaky voice. "It is the young mistress's birthday party in the afternoon."
