Prompt: "Hey! Come on! Let me in!" "No! I might get you sick!"
(A/N: Hi guys! So, don't think that I am off my break. Because I'm not. I still won't be posting on SS or RTSL chapter just yet. Sorry! Instead, I have joined a forum. It is called camp Jupiter. This is my first submission for it! You guys should check it out, I've put a link on my profile. So how this works is that I get a bunch of prompts to choose from and must write a one-shot on it.
Also please read the bottom A/N!
Hope you all enjoy!)
"I'm fine!" Annabeth said to the IM.
"No, you're not." Replied Malcolm, frowning. "You're sick. You are most definitely not fine."
"I am!" Annabeth huffed.
She wasn't.
Annabeth was at the Jackson's. Alone.
Sally and Paul had gone on holiday to get some quality time together and had left Percy and Annabeth in charge.
And Percy was at camp Jupiter for some time checking up on things.
So poor Annabeth was home alone.
And she was sick.
And to make matters worse, the rest of the seven, Calypso, Thalia and Nico were supposed to be coming over for a sleepover that evening.
Just great.
"No, you are not!" Malcolm's voice was unusually stern.
"Prove it." His sister challenged.
"I will." He started counting. "One. Two. Three-"
Annabeth sneezed.
"Hah!" Malcolm cried. "Told ya!"
Annabeth wiped her nose and grumbled.
"It's okay sis," Malcolm's voice was softer now. "I'll call Percy and-"
"No!" Annabeth sat up straight. "he's busy. I don't want to disturb him. And anyway, I'll get him sick. I don't want him to get sick."
"But Anna-"
"No!" The girl was persistent. "Please."
Malcolm sighed. "Alright, I'll do what you want, just… Take care of yourself okay 'Beth?"
Said girl snorted. "Mal, I've been through much worse things than get a little sick."
She shuddered, remembering some of the things that she had dealt with.
"Hey, it's okay." Malcolm said comfortingly as if he knew what Annabeth was thinking about.
"Just stay safe sis. Love you Annie." He laughed.
Annabeth scowled. "Don't call me Annie!" But it was too late, the son of Athena had already swiped his hand through and left his sister talking to air.
She huffed but mumbled, "Love you too Mal."
The blonde girl stared into the empty air for a second and sighed.
She grabbed the blanket and wrapped it around her tightly to stop herself from shivering.
"Ugh," Annabeth muttered. "Stupid fever."
She looked at the time and groaned. It had just turned noon. Only four more hours until everybody else showed up.
She heaved herself off the sofa and waddled to the kitchen, taking her blanket with her and looking much like a penguin.
Annabeth turned on the stove and put a pot of water on to boil.
"Dad said soup is good when you're sick." She said to herself. "Guess it's time I learned how to make soup."
In the next half an hour, Annabeth managed to burn herself, cut her finger and spill half the water that was in the pot in an attempt to make soup.
"Styx..." She looked at her finger and ran it under cold water until the bleeding stopped.
"Stupid carrots." The girl mumbled.
She walked over and ate a tiny bit of ambrosia and watched as the burn healed and the cut closed into a tiny scar.
Annabeth scowled.
"Screw the soup."
She started walking out of the kitchen with the blanket still around her when she slipped on the water and fell on the floor.
It was too much for her and she broke down in tears.
"I can't even make soup! I'm so stupid. And now I'm in a puddle. I want Percy!" She blinked and wiped her face. "Stupid hormones... Why does-"
The doorbell rang.
Annabeth frowned. She wasn't expecting people this early.
She carefully got up off the floor and walked towards the front door, taking the blanket with her.
Her face was red and tear-stained and her hair was pulled into a messy bun. She was wearing shorts and a camp half-blood t-shirt and wrapped around her, was a blue blanket.
Percy's blanket.
Annabeth did nothing to fix her appearance and sighed as she turned the handle.
"Yes? What do you want-"
"Annabeth?"
Said girl looked up from the floor, her eyes widening slightly.
"Percy?"
The boy grinned and then looked at Annabeth properly.
She looks like a puppy. He thought. A very cute puppy.
"Hey, wise girl." Percy smiled at his girlfriend.
"W-what are you doing here? I thought you were at camp Jupiter-"
Percy cut her off.
"Your brother IM'ed me." He said. "Malcolm said you needed me. Are you alright?"
Annabeth scowled and mumbled. "I'm going to kill you, Malcolm."
Percy took a step forward into the apartment and shut the door just as Annabeth took a step back.
Percy frowned a little then reached out to touch her forehead.
He smiled and said softly, "You have a fever wise girl. Come on, I'll help you."
Annabeth shook her head and took another step back.
"No, I don't want you to help. You'll get sick."
Percy laughed lightly. "No, I won't, it'll be fine. Come on, let me help."
The daughter of Athena shook her head again, more insistent this time.
"No."
And with that, she ran off into Percy's room, abandoning the blanket in a heap and heading towards the door.
Percy blinked, a little surprised. That wasn't the reaction he had been expecting.
He shook his head and followed Annabeth quickly and walked straight into the door.
"Ouch..." He mumbled and rubbed his nose.
Percy scowled and tried opening the door.
Locked.
"Annabeth!" He cried, banging on the door with his fist. "Hey! Come on! Let me in!"
"No!" Came his girlfriend's reply. "I might get you sick!"
"Annabeth." Percy frowned and jiggled the handle. "Open up."
"I don't want you to get sick." Annabeth's voice was just above a whisper.
Percy smiled to himself a little. His girlfriend cared a lot about him and wanted him to stay safe and would go to strange lengths to do that. Like, lock herself in his room.
"Wise girl," Percy said softly. "I don't care if I get sick. I care because you are sick. And I want to help you get better even if I get sick with you. So, please wise girl. Open the door."
There was a short pause of about five seconds until an audible click! Was heard.
Annabeth came into view.
She was standing on the other side of the door and looking at the floor.
Percy put his arms out and Annabeth fell into them without a second thought.
He just held her, wrapping his arms around her as if shielding her from the rest of the world.
Annabeth buried her head in the crook of Percy's neck and breathed in deeply, sighing a little at the familiar ocean scent and ignoring the way she clutched his shirt.
Her boyfriend picked her up bridal style and brought her to the couch where he sat down and put Annabeth on his lap.
She leaned on his chest and closed her eyes, listening to the steady beat of his heart and enjoying the calming way his chest moved upwards and fell down again subtly.
They stayed like that for a few minutes before someone decided to make something for their other half.
Percy smiled and pressed a kiss to her head. He gently picked up Annabeth again and stood up and then placed her on the couch so she was laying down.
Annabeth opened her eyes and tilted her head slightly.
"Percy?" she asked, quietly. "Where are you going? Don't leave me."
"I'm not leaving you," Percy said rubbing Annabeth's hand. "I'm going to go make you some soup alright? It'll help."
Annabeth nodded and yawned cutely. "Okay seaweed brain. Love you."
After Tartarus, Percy and Annabeth felt the need to tell each other that they loved one another constantly.
It didn't matter who was there, what type of situation they were in or where they were, they always remembered.
So now, Percy said, "love you too wise girl." He smiled and kissed her forehead before heading off towards the kitchen.
Annabeth smiled softly before closing her eyes again.
The son of Poseidon entered the kitchen and looked around.
There was water on the floor and vegetables on the countertops.
The stove was turned off thankfully and the pot was on the floor.
Percy lifted a hand and all the water on the floor went down the drain.
Then he started by filling the pot with water and putting it on to boil.
He quickly cleaned the kitchen and finished chopping up the vegetables and then put all the ingredients in the pot.
After a little while, he was done.
Percy grabbed a bowl and put some soup in it and walked back into the living room where Annabeth was.
He gently shook his girlfriend in an attempt to wake her up.
She rubbed her eyes and opened them.
Percy lifted up the bowl. "I've got the soup wise girl."
Annabeth smiled and sat up carefully. "Thanks, Percy."
"Anything for you." He replied with a lopsided grin, sending butterflies in Annabeth's stomach. No matter how long she had seen that smile, it had always made her feel her like the best girl in the world.
She looked up and saw Percy setting the bowl down on a nearby table.
He then picked up Annabeth, much to her surprise and evident confusion, and sat in her place.
Then he placed Annabeth on his lap so the back of her head was on his chest and wrapped his arms around her.
"But won't you be-" She began to protest but Percy cut her off.
"Just let me your couch."
Annabeth smiled and tilted her head upwards so she could look at him.
Percy looked down.
Their lips met, and for a few seconds, everything was okay.
Annabeth pulled back after a while, much to her boyfriend's indignation and took the bowl of soup and started drinking it slowly.
Percy sighed and rested his chin on her head and held her close to him.
A little while later, Annabeth had finished her soup and was waiting for Percy to say something.
"I have an idea." He said, smirking.
"And what would that be seaweed brain?" She asked, not liking the cheeky edge to his voice.
Percy lifted his arms and started tickling her mercilessly, ignoring her demands of stopping and concentrating on the fact that she was adorable when she was red.
Annabeth finally broke free and jumped off the couch and ran around the room with Percy chasing her like a game of tag.
Annabeth hopped onto the couch but was stopped as Percy –now in front of her- grabbed her waist, and sent them both plummeting onto the sofa.
Grey eyes met green as Annabeth fell on top of Percy and the world stopped.
Her hands were on his chest and his arms were wrapped around her waist while their legs were tangled together.
"Well, hello there." Percy's voice was slightly husky and he spoke quietly.
"Hi," Annabeth breathed.
She couldn't hold it in anymore and just kissed him, right there in the middle of a tickle war and a game of tag, snaking her arms around his neck.
Percy responded immediately, their lips moving in sync as he tightened his grip around her waist and brought her closer.
Seconds past and finally, they broke loose, gasping for air as they did.
Percy grinned and Annabeth's face mirrored his as she lay down on him again, breathing in his scent.
Percy hugged Annabeth the whole time thinking about how he was the luckiest person in the world to have her.
For the next half hour, both of them hugged each other, sneaked in kisses and just cuddled with one another until they fell asleep, still holding onto each other.
And that is how their friends found them an hour later after Thalia kicked the door open because no one was answering it.
They crept into the living room and all of them smiled at the sight they saw.
With Annabeth's cheek resting on Percy's chest and her arms hugging his shoulders and Percy, with his arms wrapped around her and breathing down on Annabeth's head with their legs, still tangled together and each with a soft smile gracing their lips.
Percy got sick the next day.
But he didn't care.
Not one bit.
And how did he get sick, you may ask?
Two words.
Uncontained kisses.
