Author's Note: I am Handicapped with Aspergers, Dyslexia, OCD, ADHD and a whole lot more so please bare that in mind if my spelling is off. I use spell checker. I also have a slight mental disability so please excuse any mistakes. I do the best I can with writing these stories and trying to post chapters. Also I am a very sick person so their will be periods where I don't update. But ALL my stories will be updated eventually.
Also when I come up with a story idea I can't stop myself from writing it down and posting it. I literally can't sleep to I have written it down. So that is why there are so many stories.
Introduction
Artemis gets sick or did she get poisoned? She refuses to spoil Apollo's Honeymoon. How stubborn will the Moon Goddess be?
Part One of Two
Artemis hated being sick. Absolutely hated it. There was only a couple of ways for immortals to get sick. One was letting yourself get run down and the other was basically foul play.
At this point Artemis wasn't sure which she was. After all she HAD been pretty busy. What with her brother being turned mortal and all the stress that bought. Then him coming back and announcing he was dating his companion Meg. Then him proposing and the craziness of the Wedding that followed.
She had been chosen to help with the Wedding. She wouldn't denied her brother that request. Or the fact he wanted her next to him.
But she had started feeling sick days ago. She was sure it would go away in time. But the Fates must hate her. Here she was two hours before the ceremony throwing up. She knew she needed help. But she absolutely wasn't going to ruin her brother's special day. She owed him a good day.
Artemis groans as her head pounds. Why her? She DID need help. But not Apollo's. And someone that could keep their mouth shut.
She makes a rainbow.
"Iris show my Asclepius!" Artemis orders while trying not to throw up
"At once Lady Artemis", she replies
"Oh are not a word", Artemis growls
"Of course. All calls are private", Iris replies
The rainbow shimmers showing Asclepius in his office at the infirmary. It looked like he was getting ready for the wedding at work. Asclepius looks up surprised to see his Aunt contacting him on his fathers wedding day. Shouldn't she be getting ready?
"Aunt shouldn't you be getting ready?" Asclepius asks
Artemis glares at him.
"I need you aid", Artemis says
"What sort of aid?" Asclepius asks
"I am sick", Artemis replies straight to the point
"That can't be. Unless you drank some of Dionysus's brew at the bachelorette party", Asclepius states confused
"I didn't drink! Just get your ass to my Temple with something to calm my stomach and head! And not a word to anyone especially you-know-who", Artemis growls
"Shouldn't HE know?" Asclepius asks
"Asclepius...", Artemis growls
"Yes?" Asclepius asks
"Get. Here. Now. I only have so long to settle myself before someone comes looking for me", Artemis orders
"Give me ten..."
"5. Apollo will be starting to panic soon. And I have to get him to the alter", Artemis orders
"Agreed. See you soon", Asclepius says as the rainbow disappears
Artemis groans. Her head was killing her. And her stomach was bad. She stumbles into her kitchen to find some water.
How was she going to get through this day?
She hears someone knocking on her temple door. She lets out her senses and sighs in relief when she feels it is Asclepius.
She goes to the door and quickly opens it.
"In", she growls
Asclepius nods and follows her in as the Temple door slams shut.
"Let me look at you", Asclepius orders
"Just give me the pills", Artemis orders
"I am a Doctor let me check you over or I'll tell and get Dad", Asclepius threatens
"Don't you dare", Artemis growls
"Try me", Asclepius replies
"If you don't give me those fucking pills and keep this secret from everyone especially Apollo then I'll shove an arrow in to a most sensitive place AND throw IT into Tartarus!" Artemis threatens
Asclepius eyes widen at the threat.
"You wouldn't", Asclepius replies
"Try me!" Artemis growls her eyes flashing
Asclepius sighs and hands her two bottle.
"Nausea and mild pain killers for the headache", Asclepius tells her pointing at each one, "No more then two of each at a time. And 6 hours in between"
Artemis nods shaking the nausea pills out then the pain killers. While she throws them in her mouth she feels a hand on her forehead. She glares at Asclepius.
"You have a fever", Asclepius comments
"And the pain killers should lower it", Artemis states walking out to get dressed.
But she hears Asclepius mutter.
"Stubborn as a mull. I swear I HATE treating..."
Artemis just shakes her head which was a bad idea since the medication hadn't worked yet. She slowly puts on her dress and starts to do her hair. She knew she had to make an effort with makeup to cover up the fact she is sick.
She soon felt the relief the medication was offering. And she thanked small mercy's. She was checking her makeup for the final time before deciding this was as good as it will get before walking back downstairs to find Asclepius still hadn't left.
"Why are you still here?" Artemis grumbles
"I am worried about you", Asclepius replies
"Why?" Artemis asks putting the medication in her small purse.
"Because someone has too! You won't let me tell anyone especially Dad. So your stuck with me!" Asclepius tells her
"Oh joy. I have to get to Apollo. Your. Not. Coming. I AM FINE", Artemis states
"We'll see. I'll let you go. But don't whine when you come to me and I tell you 'I told you so'", Asclepius replies
"I won't be doing that", Artemis replies storming out
Asclepius sighs this is going to be a fun night. Because he knew when an immortal got sick. They got sick spectacularly. Especially if the sick person was a God or Goddess. He sighs he would have to keep an eye on his stubborn Aunt. And hope for the best...
Artemis managed to get through calmly her nervous brother and stopping him from doing anything stupid. She just managed to get through the service with her bastard of a step-mother harping on and on. Artemis swears Hera knew she was sick so she deliberately kept going on and on to keep her standing.
She was happy when they moved onto the reception and she was able to sneak some of the anti-nausea and pain killer medication. As she suspected her temperature was a little high. As she says two Apollo's not long ago and had to blink them away.
She was seated next to Apollo. Which was bad because he would maybe notice if she didn't eat or drink. She would have to subtly switch the wine for water thorough. Her stomach definitely wouldn't handle wine.
Eating was a difficult task. She only ate a little and banished the rest in small lots. She. Ace sure to drink lots off water. As she was starting to get hot.
She didn't realise it was speeches time.
"Aunt your up!" She hears Asclepius put in her head
Artemis quickly realised he was right. She takes a deep breath and stands up to give her speech. Trying and hopefully succeeding on keeping her hand from shaking with her glass in hand.
She manages to both compliment and embarrass her brother. Which in her state was amazing.
Now dancing started. And another part she was dreading was dancing with her brother. As she had been asked a few weeks ago to do after the first dance. Oh how she wished she foresaw this.
Watching Apollo thorough made her dismiss that. She could get through this. Her brother deserved a great wedding and day. She HAD to give him that.
Apollo smiles at her and offers her his hand. She puts on a smile and takes it letting him lead her onto the dance floor.
"You ok?" Apollo asks her
"Never better. Why?" Artemis asks lying
"Well you haven't exactly taken out your knives and threatened to cut Hercules or Cupid's balls off like you normally do", Apollo replies smirking
In truth Artemis didn't tell him she had actually forgotten her knives this time.
"Well there is always time", Artemis lies, "Are you happy?" Artemis asks changing topic
"I am. I never have felt so happy", Apollo replies as he looks at Meg dancing with Will.
"I take it your womanising ways are done?" Artemis asks casually
"Meg and I have talked. We both agreed to an open marriage but we have to have permission from the other to have a relationship with another or have kids with another", Apollo informs her
"Interesting decision", Artemis states struggling not to throw up
"Thank you", Apollo replies happily
"For what?" Artemis asks confused
"For being supportive. For being HERE. Even though I know you don't like maidens marrying and so on", Apollo tells her
"I would always support you", Artemis replies honestly
"Sometimes I wonder", Apollo mutters
"What?" Artemis asks shocked
"Oh look our dance is over", Apollo replies pulling away
Artemis lets him go shaking her head. Maybe she did not hear that correct. Maybe her fever WAS getting to her.
Artemis watches the rest of the evening. As pain was shooting through her stomach now making her nausea worse. Her head was pounding with the noise.
She didn't notice Asclepius keeping an eye on her. Or Athena ask Asclepius if something was wrong. She just wanted this night to be over.
But she had a gift for her brother and his wife to give. She walks over to them.
"I have a gift to give you both. If you follow me", Artemis tells them softly
Apollo raises an eyebrow and Meg looks shocked. But they nod and follow her outside. And many others follow too.
They were lead to the balcony of a moonlight night.
"Why are we here My Lady?" Meg asks
"Call me Artemis, Meg. Your my sister now and a Goddess. We are equal now. As such you have earned my respect, gratitude and my bow", Artemis replies shocking everyone
Even Apollo's eyes widen at her words. Meg might not know it but by Artemis saying 'earned my respect, gratitude and my bow' especially the 'bow' part. Meant that Artemis would fight for Meg like she would fight to defend Olympus. Also by Artemis saying that she was declaring Meg untouchable. As many feared making Artemis mad.
"Your gift M...Artemis?" Meg asks blushing
Artemis waves her hands at the stars. Everyone watches as NEW stars appear. Making a totally knew constellation in the Sky.
Artemis weaving her hands concentrating on what she wanted it too look like. It was difficult in her state. But she was one of the most stubborn people on the planet. So she wouldn't postpone her gift for a later date.
Everyone gasps at the spectacular constellation that appears.
"What is it called?" Apollo asks curiously
"The Sun Couple", Artemis tells everyone as she started to sweat.
Everyone was stunned speechless at that. Nobody knowing what to say too that...
Not long later everyone was saying goodbye to the Couple. Who were about to embark on their Honeymoon.
Meg goes up to Artemis and hugs her.
"Thank you", Meg says
"Think nothing off it", Artemis replies masking her pain.
Apollo comes up and hugs his twin tightly. Artemis has to hold back a whimper.
"Thank you Sis. For everything and making this a great day", Apollo tells her pulling back
"Have a great month long Honeymoon", Artemis replies with a fake smile.
"We will", Apollo smirks and winks
Artemis watches as Apollo helps Meg into his Sun Chariot that had been given a makeover by Hermes.
Everyone waves and shouts goodbye. Artemis barely realises her brothers chariot disappearing in the distance. The pain was excruciating from her head and stomach. Her body ached ALL over. She was both hot and cold. And the nausea was coming back in vengeance.
"Artemis?" she hears Athena say
Artemis looks up to see Athena and Hermes next too her. Artemis now was leaning heavily on the wall.
Suddenly Asclepius was there as she slides down the wall her strength spent.
"I Know I don't have to say it, but I told you so. Auntie we need to get you help", Asclepius tells her as more people noticed what was going on.
"Make...sure nobody...tells Apollo or Meg...then I'll come with you", Artemis rasps
"Artemis...", Asclepius starts
"Promise me!" Artemis says while groaning
"I swear on the River Styx nobody will contact Apollo and Meg about your condition", Asclepius vows knowing it was the only way he would be able to help her.
"Thank you", Artemis replies
Asclepius feels her forehead and swears. It was radiating a good amount of heat.
"Hermes pick her up. We need to get her to the infirmary! Now!" Asclepius orders
Hermes gently picks up Artemis. And she doesn't even complain. That showed how bad off she was.
They flash too the infirmary/hospital and Artemis is rushed just right in. Hermes was kicked out as all the healing deity's arrive.
"Her temp?" Asclepius asks
"106", Epione replies wincing
"I want her on IV nectar and cold fluids. Get ice packs. I want a blood test done immediately because she can't just be run down. I want vital machines hooked up and working. I want a tray of Ambrosia too", Asclepius barks
Everyone rushes around to do his orders.
"Auntie can you tell me want us going on?" Asclepius asks her
"Headache, nausea, pain in stomach, aching all over, hot...and cold", Artemis rasps
"We will help you. But Auntie you need Dad", Asclepius tells her
"No...he...he deserves his Honeymoon...I gave already caused him enough drama", Artemis chokes out
Asclepius rolls his eyes. He hoped she would change her mind and quick...
The Council was out in the waiting room. All stunned at what happened none of them even saw a hint of Artemis being sick. Then she just basically collapses just after Apollo leaves.
"She must have been feeling off all day. She did seem off at times", Athena mutters
"That's because she has been battling this sickness all day", a voice says
They turn to see Asclepius coming towards them looking tired.
"What do you mean?" Hermes asks
"This morning Aun...Lady Artemis, Iris messaged me she was vomiting and had a headache and asked for Anti-Nausea medication and pain killers. I granted her them after she made me swear not to tell anyone especially Apollo. I watched her throughout the day and noticed she wasn't doing as well as she acted", Asclepius tells them
"What do you mean?" Poseidon asks
"Well for one she had trouble actually getting ready for the service. Two she could barely stand during the whole service. Three she didn't eat much dinner. Four she was drinking a LOT of water. Five she barely was able to dance with Dad. Six she never once threatened or pulled her knives out on the men that dared approach her. Do I need to continue?" Asclepius asks
"Apollo would have noticed she wasn't eating. They sat next to each other after all!" Demeter comments
"She vanished the food in small lots. Not noticeable to those who weren't looking for it", Asclepius replies
"What is wrong with MY daughter?" Zeus asks
Asclepius sighs, "She is in serve pain. Her stomach and head are hurting the worse she said. But she said her body aches. She has a temperature that is continuing to climb. She is starting to get delirious from the fever"
"So what do we do?" Athena asks
"Well if this continues we should put her on a breathing machine to give her body time to heal. Only there is a couple of problems with that", Asclepius states
"And they are?" Aphrodite asks
"She has explicitly said no to being sedated and put on one. And since she was coherent at the time we have to follow her wished. Unless her medical guardian steps in", Asclepius replies
"We don't need medical guardians as we are immortal and rarely get so sick", Athena states confused
"While true. Artemis DOES gave a medical guardian", Asclepius informs them reluctantly
He really, really didn't want to tell them this.
"Who is it?" Zeus asks
"And why?" Athena asks
"Well as to why Lady Artemis agreed that because of the issues with Orion she might need someone to make decisions if she us unable too. By the way don't ask about exactly what. Because that is confidential. But Artemis made a deal to for this person to have medical power if she was incapacitated. And he would give her power if he couldn't", Asclepius informs them, "One guess who it is"
"Apollo", Athena and several others say together
"Got it in one", Asclepius replies grimly
"Well then we have to tell him!" Hermes explains
"We can't. The vow I made for Artemis to get checked. Covers ALL of us. We are stuck", Asclepius says grimly
"Can we go see her?" Hestia asks
"Sure. Try and help her cool off. Her temp is too high. We are waiting on blood tests to come back", Asclepius informs them
"What would that show?" Hades asks
"I don't think she is this sick just because she is run down. And leave it at that till the blood work comes back. Now I'll take you too her room", Asclepius replies
He shows the Olympians to a room. Artemis was laying there her cheeks were flushed scarlet. Her breathing laboured. She was restless. She also had IV me rad and fluids going into her. Ice parks were touching her skin.
She opens her eyes and looks at them. They could see she was barely there. Half delusional.
"Apollo...Apollo where are you?" she mutters
"Isn't that enough to break the vow?" Athena asks
"No she made me swear before she became delirious to do anything she asks us to do in this state. I swear she is the most stubborn person on the planet", Asclepius mutters, "I'll be back with the test results"
Asclepius leaves them. Hestia takes a seat next to Artemis and tries to smooth her by running her fingers through her hair.
"I'm sorry Apollo. I'll make it up too you", Artemis mutters deliriously
"Shh Artemis it is ok", Hestia murmurs
"I deserve for you to hate me my protector", Artemis mutters tossing fevered
Hestia looks at the others. They were getting a look inside Artemis's mind. In this state she couldn't hide it.
Another hour passes them learning more about what Artemis was thinking before Asclepius walks in looking troubled and angry.
"What is it?" Hermes asks
"What did the tests show?" Hestia asks concerned
"The tests are bad", Athena states looking at Asclepius
"You have no idea. While I was correct about her being run down. I was also correct on it also being foul play. There is an unknown toxin in her system that is causing havoc With her system", Asclepius informs them
Zeus growls. Lightning flashes across Olympus in his rage.
"So someone poisoned MY daughter?" Zeus booms
"Yes my Lord", Asclepius replies
"Can you cure it?" Athena asks
"That is the tricky thing. Her body is run down. I don't know if the Antidote we have made will be effective. But we will try", Asclepius replies
"Athena start an investigation. Find who did this!" Zeus orders
"Yes Father", Athena replies
"I want someone with Artemis at all times to we find out who did this", Zeus informs everyone
"I will stay. I can keep her calm", Hestia volunteers
"I'll help Athena. I need to do something", Hermes states
"Then let's get to work", Athena replies
"Where do we start?" Hermes asks
"Her Temple"
