Hello! I've done a little writing on here before but years ago and I hated the stories, so those are gone and I'm not writing again! I've been obsessed with the K/DA lore recently and had a bit of inspiration to write something. I love writing using heavily contrasting characters, and I'm sure it'll be fairly obvious to see fairly early just how different some of the cast can be from my own character.
This will likely be the shortest chapter of most, as it is really just setting up how everyone meets and giving a basic introduction to who Leaf is, but I hope you enjoy nonetheless!

Reviews are always welcome as I don't have anyone to beta-read my work and I'll always have space to improve, so feel free to give opinions!

As always, I do not own any characters here other than Leaf, they are property of Riot / League of Legends.

The cheers and screams could be heard from over a city block away, despite the usual bustle of the city. Most people were making their ways away from the concert hall, leaving what felt to most like a party of a concert. Two figures, each on opposite sides of the street, were making their way progressively closer to the expanse of a building. Neither seemed to notice each other, one man towering above the rest of the crowd, easily pushing his way through. The second was not as lucky, being bumped and pushed as he tried to move against the flow of the crowd. The concert, as it was just letting out, was unleashing wave after wave of people to interrupt progress.

Leaf, the smaller of the two figures, knew he just needed to get past the concert hall and moving would be easier. He glanced at his watch, groaning slightly.

12:37

He had wanted to be home hours earlier, dreading now an early morning class matched with a lack of sleep. He managed to get lost in thought despite how hard he was having to work to keep moving forward. His daydreaming proved to be a mistake however as he felt himself get hit hard, his whole body spinning slightly, seeing someone having ran into him not even stopping their movement. Leaf took a few steps back, expecting to bump a wall but instead finding himself in a small alleyway.

Taking a gamble, he made his way down the alleyway, walking quickly now without the crowd to push against him. It curved around the back of the concert hall and despite the buildings between it and where Leaf was, he could still hear music blaring. The alleyway finally ended, spitting him out at what looked like a staff entrance behind the concert hall. He couldn't shake a feeling he wasn't supposed to be there but figured the alley would have been blocked off if it was a major problem. He began walking again, making his way to the far side of the building as quickly as possible.

Inside the concert hall four girls were setting bags and suitcases in stacks, two more significantly larger people organizing and beginning to load the luggage onto a cart. Three of the four were laughing together, the final just keeping a slight smirk on as everyone joked and bantered about the concert.

They were almost shouting to each other, post-concert music playing over the speakers in the main hall managing to drown out most conversation in the building. The party began to work their way outside of the building, winding halls familiar to them already. One of the larger men followed the group, an earpiece glinting yellow-orange light as they walked.

They finally made their way outside, one of the girls running slightly ahead and stretching, enjoying the cool air. A few laughs came from the rest as they caught up and most of them pulled jackets tight around themselves.

The sense of joy did not last long, unfortunately.

As the fifth man left the building, he closed the door, a loud click being heard. He began to walk to the group once again before a crash and a snap were heard and his world began to fade to black.

Leaf had almost made it past the building, glancing back to see a door open and the five figures leaving. He started to walk faster, not wanting to cause any trouble before he heard what sounded like breaking glass. His head snapped back to the area and he now saw six people, one dropping to the ground. He was running before he had even decided to, his phone dropping to the pavement behind him.

The four girls didn't make a sound, and while they seemed worried, they did not seem scared.

The unwelcomed man had something large in his hand, to Leaf it seemed like he'd ripped a light post from the ground, but he didn't stop to think long enough to decide what he was doing was a bad idea. The man pulled the pole back, looking like a batter about to hit a homerun, and swung towards the girls. Three of the girls were gone in a heartbeat, moving faster than Leaf could pay attention to. What he did notice was the one who was too slow – she was going to be hit.

The pole was just a foot from Evelynn, and she felt something almost new to her. She was scared, terrified even. Her eyes shut and she accepted she was going to be hit, throwing her arms up to try and stop as much damage as possible. One second passed, then another, finally a third and Eve opened her eyes.

The pole was inches away from her but wasn't moving. A barrier had formed between them, what looked like blue glass, shining light but cracked from the impact. Feet away a seventh figure could be seen, one hand up, blood dripping from his mouth.

Leaf could feel the impact even though it hadn't hit him. He pulled his hand back slightly and the shield dropped, his eyes flickering to the man carrying the pole. The man looked furious, eyes burning almost red through the darkness.

The man turned his attention to the newcomer, lifting and swinging the pole significantly faster than he had before. Leaf dropped to the ground, a glowing blue shield once again forming, deflecting the swing up and away. Leaf turned, seeing the four girls standing a few feet away from him, staring at him with wide eyes.

"RUN"

Leaf could barely get the words out of his mouth, standing up on shaking legs. He didn't bother to see if they ran, he couldn't afford to. Leaf heard a pounding in front of him and saw the beast of a man charging towards him. He jumped to the side, but the man's arms went out. He barely threw up a last shield, burning black in the night instead of blue.

The man impacted, shattering the shield and slamming directly into Leaf. He hit the ground hard, his vision beginning to fade, eyes closing.

Darkness.

A flash of shadows flew over him and a crash sounded from the direction of the man.

Darkness.

He forced himself awake, seeing now a face close to his own, blue eyes staring directly into his own.
"He isn't dead!"

Darkness.

He awoke a third time, feeling himself being carried, someone running. He moved his head, pain flaring through him as he did so. He saw a figure covered in shadows, what looked like bladed tails protruding from their back as they ran. There was a commotion behind them as they ran and Leaf tried to look, but the pain was too much and he felt himself slip into darkness again.
